No, Like in ACT your Driving Instructor can give you a log book, it will basically say you have an ability to drive a safely, you give this to log book to licensing office and they will give you your license

but still you need to pass a theory exam 🙂

Not quite... some friends in AU have confirmed this and google can confirm this as well 😉 Needless to say, better check the state one will be drivin to ensure about the specific requirements, as well as the laws/rules.

yup, halos pare parehas, me maga konting dagdag lang siguro kagaya ng sinabi mo na hazard perception test.

may mga pinoy pa din kasi na kumukuha ng Int Drivers Lic sa LTO bago pumunta ng Au, e pwede naman na hindi ipa convert sa IDL ang licence.

Yung iba nagbabayad pa ata sa fixer para lang mapadali ang pag issue ng IDL.

In NSW kse meron dkt, hpt & dqt. Dqt ang exam from p2 to full license. Just not sure kng ano ittake to convert from ph dl.

for PR visa holders, there is no need to get an Intl DL.. your PH license is valid (3 months for most states)...

there is no such thing as converting your PH DL to an AU DL... (so this thread's title is technically incorrect .. lol)..

yes your PH DL can help you skip the P-License classification.. provided you satisfy other conditions such as if your PH DL > 2years .. but still all PH DL will need to take the theory test, and all practical driving test... within 3 months of arrival... standard yan for all states..

tama yan brod, kahit naka 457 visa ka e pwede yung non prof licence from pinas. nangyari sa akin na na skipped ko yung P Lic classification nung pumasa ako sa driving test from Phil Non Prof Licence (dahil more than 3yrs na ako nag ddrive sa pinas na kahit wala naman akong sasakyan dun alam nyo naman sa LTO - lol).

salamat po nito. so tama nga, hindi na ako kukuha pa ng DL sa Pinas. doon nalang sa Au soon. Maybe pag may job na (if need talaga) & familiar na sa Adelaide.

I have a question re: license. If you take the driving test using an automatic shift car, does that mean that you are not allowed to drive a manual shift car? Kase gusto ko sana mag aral and mag exam using auto para hindi masyado hassle yung pag shift pero I am thinking of going back to manual in the future. Does that mean na mag driving test ulet? Nakaka stress ang driving test dami ko bad habits. lol.

yung sa case ko on a 457 visa, I took the actual driving test sa RTA using an automatic transmission car. Nung pumasa ako, full licence class C ang binigay sa kin with condition "Q" (Q for not a permanent resident). walang nakalagay sa licence ko kung may restriction (manual or automatic).

Yung Phil Non Prof licence ko ay restriction 2 at 2003 first issued. I took the driving test sa RTA nung 2009 (in this case, more than 5years na ako ng ddrive).

Mas maganda kung mag inquire ka sa RMS (RTA before) about your query.

Baka may bearing yung driving experience mo sa pag issue ng "automatic only licence" or full licence.

By the way, I assume na nasa Sydney ka as per your timeline.

the car that i used in the driving exam was automatic; the license i got was without any restrictions naman.

Thanks Milkan. Yes I am in Sydney na. Same tayo ng Philippine license. Might drop by tomorrow sa RMS para kumuha na rin ng application form. Kase if ever, ngayon pa lang mag practise/test na ko using a manual. I prefer manual pa rin kase.

yup tama ka, go for manual.

kuha ka ng driving instructor brod, kasi yung mga comments namin dito e as per experienced namin, iba pa din kung may instructor ka na ng tuturo sa yo in a professional way.

Also booked my driving trst, sept 10, 835am pa nmn, good luck to me hehe hirap ba talaga ang within school hours? I was thinking of rebooking, na takot ako sa comment ng instructor eh. Bt i was thinking it won't be that bad right? What dyou guys think? Mai fee pa naman f mg rebook dito sa vic, di tulad sa nsw.

tricky yung school hours na driving test mo. minsan papadaanin ka sa school zone ng examiner. be careful at strict sila sa school zone speed limit. baka hindi mo makita ang school zone sign area.

I suggest na kung may Map ka ng Victoria, (Gregorys or Melway) tignan mo kung san ang schools sa area na possible na madadaanan nyo during exam.

Hi guys, just want to share my experience on getting my driver's license here in Victoria.

One tip that I could give for those who will just be arriving here who already has a PH pro/non-pro license and wants to get an AU license before the 3 or 6 months validity expired is to have it process as soon as possible when you arrive.

For those who don't know, you can drive and use your PH license here in VIC for 6 months, after that you'll need to get your VIC license. I only started processing mine 2 months before the 6 months validity expired. I thought 2 months would give me enough processing time but luck wasn't on my side. I did my learner's exam around second week of July and my Hazard Perception exam last week of July. After that, I scheduled my driving test and the earliest schedule that I could get was Sept. 2, it was only a few days before my 6 months validity runs out which was Sept. 16.

I thought that I'd be good thinking that I could get my license before my PH license validity expires but on the day of the driving test, they did not allow me to proceed with the test because the speedometer of my car is not visible on the passenger side (lesson learned, make sure to read the paper that they'll give you once you made an appointment). They had my test rescheduled on Sept. 26. I had to stop driving for 10 days after Sept. 16. I also had to book a driving school for me to be able to use a suitable car. It cost me $275 dollars for 2 and half hours of driving lesson and using their car on the driving test but it was all worth it. I was able to pass my test without any point deduction and was given a full license.

Hiring a driving instructor has been really helpful to me because they were able to point out some tips on how to pass the test. It was really about being technical like always doing mirror and head check when changing lanes or turning left/right. Stopping 3 or more seconds at the stop sign. Waiting a few seconds before changing lane after indicating your signal lights. Maintaining the correct speed. Maintaining the correct distance to the car in front of you. Accelerating and decelerating/braking smoothly, etc...

Driving instructors also knows the route of the driving test so you will be able to familiarise the area before your actual exam. They also knows which examiner are strict so you can prevent them if you got a chance. They also talk to the examiner from time to time during your drive test.

So for those who are going to their drive test, book a few driving lessons, it will surely help.
