How to convert PH Driver's License to AU Driver's License?

Para po sa mga nasa oz na...madali lang po ba ipa-convert ang license natin? Or lahat talaga kelangan dumaan sa Learner's license muna?

Non-Pro po ang DL ko. nag-try ako mag-basa basa sa NSW...parang kelangan pa humingi ng sulat sa LTO sa pinas para sa mga info like kelan first na-issue ang license, etc. parang ang hassle naman kasi nun. not sure kung ganito din sa ibang state. sana may makapag-share ng experiences nila. 🙂

You can apply for a Philippine International Driving Permit at Automobile Association Philippines (formerly Philippine Motor Association).

@Bryann : pag meron nyang International License, ibig sabihin pwede ipa-convert na to AU driver's license without any tests?

I'm not sure about conversion, pero from what I understand, it only allows you to drive in countries that signed up with something like an international agreement on roads/licenses. The website doesn't say anything about being able to convert it to a local driver's license.

Reply to @hotshot: i think di pa rin sya applicable for the conversion of our Ph DL to AU DL. Parang privilege lang sya na pwede kang mag drive sa ibang countries with this international license. Ang problema lang is kung covered ba yung Au sa international permit na yan. Yung mahirap kasi sa Oz iba-iba yung mga policies or each state kaya need mo talaga makahanap ng person who have already had a first hand experience with this type of case.

Covered po ang Australia. Signatory sila sa "Vienna Convention on Road Traffic" na treaty.

As a general rule, you can use your overseas driving license in Australia for up to 3 months.. after that you need to apply a permanent one..

Unfortunately, a Ph driver's license cannot be converted

Here is the information from the department of transport (WA).. I would assume the same rule applies to other states:

If you hold a driver's licence from a ‘recognised country’ and the licence has not expired by more than 12 months, when applying for a WA licence:

You are exempt from taking the computerised theory test on the road rules
You may be exempt from the requirement to undertake a practical driving assessment.

kahit sa UAE ganyan din ang procedure.. pag may license mula sa mga countries na yan.. di na kailangan mag exam..

oo. magagaling naman ang mga drivers dito sa pinas ah. ang slow lane nagiging fast lane kapag may mahinang nagpatakbo sa fastlane. hehehe. minsan overtaking on a solid lane road. hahaha .OT na pala ako.

anyways, i tried driving in US, usually hindi na kailangan ang international drivers license. you can drive for 3 months using PH license. sa nabasa ko noon, you ( i mean we) need to undergo the application from scratch.. pero may level daw sa application na hindi na kailangan natin i-undergo, nakalimutan ko kung ano yun parang P2 yata, yan pag may PH license ka for x number of years. diretso na sa Full license. correct me if i'm wrong.

According to some of my friends na nasa Perth and Sydney, nagexam pa daw sila khit na may DL na sila dito sa pinas. Medyo mahirap yung exam pareho silang take two sa exam. hehehe...super strict daw kse dun.

Reply to @lock_code2004: Tomo po. D kasali ang pinas sa mga countries na pwede convert ang dl to Oz dl. Sa qld po need nio pa talaga apply for learner's (theory muna) then practical. I have finished my theory last year kaso d ko pa tinuloy practical kasi mas ok pa use ung PI dl while under 457, no demerits in case may violation, penalty lang. Lol. Pag na PR na chaka na ung practical.

Tip lang para mas madali or baka magkaroon exemptions sa ibang exams, pwede kumuha ng Driver's license certification to show na ilan years na kayo license holder dito. Sa LTO main sa East Avenue.
