yup good idea to transfer your money as soon as you have your visa... SG banks don't give out any interest while sa australia can go as high as over 4% PA...

Look at Ubank for online savings account. Currently 4.17% intrerest.

Long time back in 2012. Savings interest went up to 5.71%. At some point it reach up to almost 7%.

Hassle kasi yung sa big 4 banks na may honeymoon period. After matapos honeymoon period rate nila biglang bba yung rate. Minsan makakalimutan mo na.

Personal opinion/suggestion, once you move your money to Austrlaia.... transfer nyo sa UBank or other online savings account that has better rates.

Online banking has no branches but accessible yung money using ATM machines.

Ubank is backed by NAB. Affiliate sila ng NAB and insurured din ang money mo in case na ma bankrupt. You can use NAB ATM machine without fees.

who would scam you mate? if it is bank to bank and money was not received at the other end, it can only mean 2 things: (1) ginago ka ng teller who did it for you (that is if this was done over the counter or (2) mali either (or both) yung BSB and account number na binigay mo.

As long as you log on correctly into the online banking website and make sure your details are entered correctly, I see no reason why the transfer wouldn't go through and why anyone would be paranoid about bank to bank transfers. I've done numerous transfers from my OCBC and DBS accounts without a hitch.

para di ka kabado sa unang padala transfer ka lang maliit na amount. Dun lang naman ako kinakabahan ng konti kung mali na encode kong details sa papadalhan sa first time transfer. Kapag walang problema at pumasok saka mo i transfer lahat.

hmm. What i did/currently doing:

called up citibank global (iba number nila vs citibank sg) -
then citibank global set up a date kung kailan ako pupunta sa citibank branch to fill-up the forms
they say within a month they'll mail you the atm and pin🙂. --- i'm on this stage na, waiting 🙂

Requirements:

passport
au visa
citibank sg client
proof of billing (dito ipapadala uing card)

Then once available na, you can do citibank global transfers for free!

Caveats:

forex spread ay medyo may kalakihan, but saves you the hassle and ensures instananeous miney transfer (ganjto ginagawa ko minsan, instead of going to lucky plaza remit na lng ako citibank to citibank- sometimes the rates are better than iremit)

In my case, transferred from posb to pay2home, then pay2home to Au bank. So far, so good. Thanks.

kung pagandahan nalang ng exchange rate wala tatalo sa mga money changer sa lucky plaza pero u can only bring 10,000 cash and risky. mababa rate nila, as compared sa iba kahit sa pay2homes. Nagpapalit ako sa lucky plaza 1.081 sa pay2homes is 1.089. Pwede pa nila babaan ung rate kasi ung binigay sa akin rate sa lucky is lower than sa nakapaskil nila. the rest sa pay2homes naman papunta sa nab account ko. ngaun nasa 1.10+ na palitan

Opening bank account in australian banks is so much easier nowadays parang wala nga ako send na mga docs like passport, nagfill up lang ako online forms and within a week meron nko account. I have nab and anz. Ung anz tumawag pa talaga to advice kng when mo gusto pick up ung card mo. Ok din pay2homes secured and competitive rates plus fixed 20 ang fees. You can send money over the counter also. Ung ibang pera ko sa citibank withdraw ko nalng sa atm machine dun tapos pa close ko na dito kasi ung payroll acct ko dito sg.

need pa i declare yung cash na bibit mo papunta sa Aus? sa mga nakapag test padala na thru pay2home, ilang araw po inabot ng process..from your dbs acct to pay2home dbs acct, then to NAB? thanks

Kung less than 10,000 aud no need to declare. Kung more than dapat i declare for anti money laundering purposes. Pero understandable nman un ksi mag migrate ka nman. May gumagawa nyan sa canada not sure aa australia. Wala nman prob kung legit naman. Pay2homes pumasok within 2-3 working days

Kung mapapalit mo yan sa mga money changer at mabitbit mo ayos haha malaki yan. Pag compute ko nga ng difference sa 10k aud plang between lucky plaza and bank rates parang nsa 40k+ Pesos something ma save ko sa exhange rate plang. Sa pay2homes monitor mo everyday kasi may day na sobrang ganda ng rate nila tapos pwede mo gamitin and mag transact for that closing rate. Tapos payments mo sa kanila pwede to follow nlang via telegraphic transfer or over the counter.
