In my case, bagsak ang stock market nun, but no choice. I arrived here a week before expiry of my initial entry. Mahirap ang panahon nun, hindi raw ma extend ang initial entry, its take it or leave it.. 6 months before expiry of my initial entry e nagta-try nako maghanap ng work at seek etc. wala tlg... Same with my peers at that period. And just to clarify, someone might not have said it directly but original po mga papers namin, minalas lang kami. pustahan pa kung gusto mo? Adelaide_boi 😛 and pray na hindi mo ma experience ang pinagdaanan namin. Some things are easier said than done. Just because maganda yung panahon ng arrival nyo and our situation is the exact opposite, doesnt mean to say na hindi kami madiskarte or peke ang docs namin. Please do not add insult to injury, as if our situation isnt bad enough.

As you said, bat patagalin ng 3 years-we keep trying believe me... even now that we got a "kahit na ano jobs", a week never pass by without applying for the same role that we previously have. local experience habol nila....takes time sabi nga ng mga agent. But you are right, God will provide what's meant for us IN his time. Allow me to share someone's experience. Both hubby and wife are Asians as well, not filo tho. Like me, they are also assigned for work outside their country before moving to Aus. Wife being the primary applicant moves to Aus with kids, and it took her 13months to get a job. She was telling us her story of her despair and agony. Luckily, hubby is still working oversea and can afford to send a fair amount of funds. However, after 13months of trying, she landed a Senior accountant's role without doing any entry level/junior role. After working on that job for a few months, hubby resigned from his role in the Middle East and move to Aus to joined them. As a Christian, she advised us to hang on, pray and never stop believing in God's providence. I believed this forum was created for us Filo, to share our experience so others can be aware and learn from it. I also think we should encourage each other and possibly point people to the right direction, instead of criticising.

Reply to @Sushigurl: I don't think makakalusot ka with fake papers, given na malupit rin ang mga butas na dadaanan before getting the visa approved. Sabi rin nga eh, another person's luck might not be applicable to another.

Noong nagtry akong tumingin ng jobs na fit sa akin (sa planned nominated skill ko) walang nagfi-fit sa akin. I worry kasi baka ganun, magmove ako then spend a lot and such tapos mahihirapan pa pala ako and be unemployed for quite a long time. mahal pa naman dyan.

Reply to @simple_sabbey: Me and my friends arrived Feb/March last year. took me 3 months to land a payroll job and 6 months after arrival to land an entry level accounting role. I'm Sydney based. how about u? accountant ka rin?

I know my situation might sound incredulous to most. All i can say was im open and honest to say it out loud. Maramng kababayan are experiencing the same situation as I am, however they choose to keep it a secret. In the company im currently working with ( a global brand), halos lahat ng pinoy same situation like me. And mga 20+ kaming pinoys dito lang sa location namin, they tell me their story, sabi nga nila swerte pa nga raw ako sa panahon ngayon, that i was able to get a job with a MNC maski junior role, very tough raw kasi. and they knew a lot who have experienced far worst than I did. Bottom line is, the subject line to this topic is very true and I just want my fellow kababayan to be aware and prepare. At least with that awareness, they dont have to suffer the agony and depression as we did. Kasi ganyan rin ang line of thinking ko together with my friends, na since nsa "occupation on demand list" tayo e it would just be a breeze to look for work. Its up to you guys..

Hmmm, we shall keep you in mind... We are just starting; wife is the primary applicant and she has been an accountant/auditor for the past 8++ yrs. 4 of those were gotten here in Singapore.

In terms of employment, Australia is doing so much better than other developed countries...so I like to believe Australia is still an ideal place to land your dream job...It's just that andami rin kasing competition kaya nagiging mahirap...But don't lose hope 🙂

If we break the job market into segments, maganda pa naman ang chances makakuha ng trabaho kung galing ka ng finance industry...pinaka in demand pa rin ang mining, construction at engineering dahil sa mining boom...Ang mga galing retail at manufacturing ang taghirap dun ayon sa na-research ko

It didnt mean to load the burdens you're carrying now. Could you please read my "inspirational" message to our kababayans over and over again? I'm just trying to reverse the pessimistic news to optimistic one. Dahil base sa obserbasyon ko dito sa South australia halos lahat ng kilala kong pinoy got their jobs in just a month.

Uulitin ko ha? "wala pa akong nababalitaang pinoy na peke ang documents na pumunta dito". Ang tinutukoy ko mga ibang lahi, particular sa mga africans at indians. Masyado ka naman yatang defensive. Eto pa: "the i*dian guy can't even compete with filipino accountant". Indian ka ba? sorry kung ganun.

I agree, the news may be TRUE, but then again, hindi yan para sa mga pinoy na fighter. We could react to this news with optimism. Please lang, i-welcome naman natin ang mga applicants. Wag tayong mag react ng NEGATIVE at BITTER. Sensitive ang mga applicants, they scrutinize every piece of information from us before they make up their mind for certain.

Napakaraming cities na sa Australia ang most livable cities in the world. Kaya Australia pa rin ang the best.

@adelaide_boi I dont call it Negative and Bitter, kasi realities ang nangyari. Negative is saying something such as "dont come here kasi BAKA malasin rin kayo".

We moved to Aus with good vibes and dreams, kung negative kami e hind na kami lumipad rto. I understand na mahirap tlg maka-relate specially if you havent been to this situation. Iba ang situation with every cities. Hiding the truth doesnt make one an optimist. Providing a warning doesnt makes one a pessimist as well. Pls note that im not dissuading our kababyan to come here. All i wanted to say was, be ready with your baon(funds) and proper timing po! Read my email again as well.

"Overqualified Migrants" first time ko nabasa yan ha. Paano naoverqualified e iba naman ang standards dito vs sa ibang bansa, iba ang culture vs sa ibang bansa, iba ang mentality vs sa ibang bansa. Mababa EQ yun pa kaya hindi matanggap na yung achievements and status nya sa bansa na pinanggalingan nya e pagdating nya dito e hindi nya nakuha agad. Naman adjustment period naman, maging realistic naman kasi.

Most people na kilala kong nagma-migrate are in their 40s. By that time nasa senior position na sila sa kung saan mang bansa sila nagta-trabaho. It's not surprising na mag-expect sila ng position na nasa same level, which is not good considering today's job market condition.

Naalala ko tuloy yung isang episode ng The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon had to pick a group of random people, including a Russian janitor, as his teammates just to qualify him for the Physics Quiz Bowl. Turns out the janitor was a physicist in his home country. Funny but not uncommon.
