Professional Membership with ACS, EA, etc.

I know most of us believe that having the right experience and tailor-fit CV are enough to land a job in Oz, but I'm also under the impression that signing up with a professional group can help broaden your network. Or does it? Is anyone here a member of Engineers Australia or ACS?

From other forums, meron daw company nanarerequire na member ng EA. Sa Linkin meron ako contact he is working as an engineer perl di na say nag member. Swertihan na lang siguro.
