Construction Estimator or Quantity Surveyor?

I hope someone can enlighten me on this.

I am a Civil Engineering graduate but unlicensed.

I have 2 years experience sa Pinas as Quantity Surveyor sa Langdon Seah (which is a RICS accredited QS consultancy). I also have 2+ years experience as Construction Estimator dito sa Singapore for Hyundai (Main Contractor).

I don't know which occupation to apply for.

If yung QS, I might get rejected by the assessing body since hindi naman ako nag-aral as QS sa Pinas. But I could easily get recommendations from my previous employer.

If I apply for Construction Estimator, I might have trouble getting any sort of document certifying that I worked as Construction Estimator here in Singapore since I am not a regular employee (contractual ako).

If all else fails, I might have to study in Australia before I will be able to work in my field.

Any advise will be appreciated. Thank you!

bakit ka mahihirapan kumuha ng docs to prove na estimator ka?

@engineer20 contractual po kasi ako. Paiba-iba ng employer/project every year.

contract / project based din naman ko.. basta collate mo lang lahat ng COE at payslips mo pwede mo ipaassess yan.

@franceyfrance kahit nmn contractual ka i think they will still give you the documents you need to prove that you are employed by them

@franceyfrance hello. Thats my dillema previuosly as well. What did were the following:

Get previous current and job recommendation from superior. Commercial manager/senior qs. I even ask my engineering manager for a reco letter
Enrolled to Rics
Added points if your job referee is a member of rics / aiqs. Ask if they are comfortable stating their rics membership member below their signature.

@chimend03 hi! Thanks for replying! Nalaman ko ngayon na wala akong superior na member ng Rics. Is it necessary to enroll in rics? Do you think it would make a big difference if I don't enroll? Thanks again!

may kakilala ako di siya ngenrol ng rics and wala siyang superior na rics naaprove siya.pero matagal ng onti. ako kasi ngenrol, kasi open naman iyon ng 5yrs. And pwede naman daw itransfer sa rics au branch. Double purpose na din. For aiqs assessment & chartership later on..

@chimend03 hi! may I know po ano position ng nakapirma sa COE's na pinasa mo sa AIQS? okay lang kaya kung HR ang nakapirma pero may detailed job responsibilities naman.. plan ko din kc pa-assess sa aiqs...

If your school/university is not within Section 1 of the link, it would be better sa EA na lang kayo magpa-assess. Recently, marami na ang nakakakuha ng assessment result na 'NOT SUITABLE'
