Claim Spouse Points

Hi All,

I am new to this forum. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have 55 points for 189 and 190 visa. Planning to claim spouse points. My spouse is a physiotherapist with 2+ years of experience. If we want to claim 5 points does she need to get the complete license from Australian physiotherapy board or just need evaluation is enough? One of my friend told me if she wants to work as Physio then only need to clear the complete license process other wise no need for points claim.

If any one gone through this kind of experience before, please share your experience and help.

As per the info in the DIBP page for visa 189, looks like your partner needs to undergo English and skills assessment for you to be able to claim points for your spouse.

Partner skills

You can receive five points if, when you are invited to apply for this visa, your partner provides evidence that they:

were under 50 years of age
had at least competent English
had nominated an occupation on the same skilled occupation list as your nominated occupation
had been assessed by the relevant assessing authority as having suitable skills for the nominated occupation.

Greetings Sir / Ma'am,

Napadaan lang po dito sa thread na to habang nagbaback read, & tanung ko lang po, is kelangan po bang same skilled occupation kami ni mrs.? Panu po kung magkaiba kami ng career, like nasa medicine sya & ako naman nasa arts. Follow up question ko din po is kelangan pa bang mag IELTS / PTE si mrs., or kahit proof of medium of language used po ang evidence nya?

Requirements:

Partner is aged under 50

Partner has competent English ability

Partner can pass skills assessment in an occupation on the applicable Skilled Occupations List for my subclass.

Positive skills assessment will suffice. She'll need to licence when she's there so she can be employed in that occupation. Note that SkillSelect these days are issuing invites for 189 applicants with 70 points and higher. You might check the points priority status later if it has dropped down when you're ready to lodge your EOI. For now, the best bet is a 190 visa application. Good luck

Tanong ko lng po, sa pag lodge nang EOI yung points lng po bah nang husband ko yung kukunin muna? Pag may invitation na kami lng e sasali yung partner skill na 5 points ko sa kanya? Plano naming mag apply na nang EOI next month po eh. Medyo hindi ko kabisado yung sa partner skill points.. Pasa napo ako sa lahat nang criteria for partner skill, hindi ko lng alam paano makuha ni husband since ako yung mga process nang application naming under my husband. 🙂

@Lermie The 5 points for Partner Skills is to be added to the points of the main applicant during the skilled visa application process and not on the EOI.

Provided that the partner satisfies the following:

Proof that when you were invited to apply for this visa, your partner:

was under 45 years old

had competent English.

had a suitable skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority for their nominated skilled occupation. Your partner’s nominated skilled occupation must be on the same skilled occupations list as your nominated skilled occupation.

Assessing authorities are listed against occupations in the relevant list of <a href="https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/work/work/skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists">eligible skilled occupations</a></i>

@cucci question lang paano sa lodging ng eoi yung primary lang muna magllodge? O dapat hiwalay na sabay maglodge?

@Lermie Di ko sure kung nagbago na yung process pero yung partner points applicable na sya sa EOI palang. Pag nag-enter ka ng details ni partner, including english scores, qualification, bith date and skills assessment, automatic na mag-add ng 5 points si Skillselect.

For 190, pwede bah iclaim kahit occupation is not on the same list? i read somewhere na pwede for 190 but not for 189. Any experiences?

@mizlreese Basta nasa same list po kayo, pwede magclaim.

In our case, Dev Programmer ako, my wife is on the 190 list. Pero naka-claim ako kasi pwede sa both 189 and 190 yung Nominated Occupation ko. 🙂
