Hi, do you have an idea about studying medicine in australia?

Will Philippine Bachelor in Nursing credentials, allow me to take doctor in medicine in australia?

@jessamariemenor hi, yes I think you can study medicine as a postgraduate degree, but you will have to sit the GAMSAT.

@Dr_D Hello, yung salary po dito as a resident medical officer depends on the postgraduate year level. eg. PGY2 is around AUD 75k per year. And then pag workplace based assessment, I think they are still paid based on the PGY level and then they just deduct or pay the fee for the assessment. You can refer to the AMC website for the fees.

@maldita thank you Dr! Kapag po ba workplace based assessment PGY 2 or 1 po? Ibig po ba sabihin ng PGY2, junior or senior medical officer? And in a year, kelan po usually sila nagtatanggap na ng applicants? Hehe thank you so much for any reply po! Nakakalito kasi pag nagtitingin ako ng vacancies, parang malabo po yung job description. Any enlightenment would be of much help doc!

@Dr_D PGY 2 and above yung nagwworkplace based assessment. PGY 2 is junior medical officer. usually around May-July yung campaign period for hospitals.

Hi! @maldita and to other fellow doctors. May I kindly ask if need mag FM residency training here in Phil. bago makapag process ng papers to work as a doctor in Australia or New Zealand? Hoping for a response. Thank you

@jess12md hi, no need to do residency training to apply for registration here. Internship is required though.

@maldita noted. May I ask if it is a requirement to have years of work experience before applying? I actually resigned from pedia residency.

@jess12md if you intend to apply in a hospital, number of years of work experience does not really matter as it is a supervised environment

Hi Doc @maldita, just wanna ask if the Employer-Sponsored Visa is not applicable for IMGs na po? What can u suggest po would be the best visa to apply. Thanks a lot!

@jaydot1989 hello, ang alam ko lang po na visa na gamit ng IMGs without PR or citizenship is employer sponsored. May kilala po ako na since nursing yung pre-med nya and may experience po sya working as a nurse before mag-med, nagtake sya ng nursing bridging course dito then nagapply for PR after maging RN dito. Sana may ibang members po dito na makakapagbigay ng input regarding visa options for IMGs.

Hi! I'm planning to take my fellowship in endocrinology in Australia. Do I need to apply first to a hospital before taking the exam? Which pathway should I take?

Good morning!!! Came across this forum while googling pinoy IMGs. I am a practising GP and cosmetic physician in QLD. Completed my AMCs in 2012 (long time ago) and RACGP fellowship in 2016. I am also a medical educator for doctors preparing for their fellowship exams (through QRME). Recently joined RACGP as an examiner for the fellowship exams. Nine years ago, when I was planning to come to Australia, the pathway was confusing and there was no one to ask about the whole process. It was all too difficult. So hopefully, I could help answer your questions here. :wink:

Hi, it depends if you are planning to practice here in Australia or not. if you are planning to take fellowship here and then return to the Philippines, yes, you have to apply to hospitals first. If you are planning to practice here, you will have to take the tests first through the AMC standard pathway.

I have applied for AGPT for 2020 and have just taken the CAAKT. I'm still waiting for the results and I'm hoping to get an interview with an RTO 🙂

Hi po, how long does it usually take for them to verify and assess accreditation of medical school? I have already created EPIC profile and have submitted the documents for verification to them last May.

Thank you guys for this thread. Do you guys happen to know of any online courses for the mcq exams? I came across amc adroit, it's quite affordable but it seems to cater more on bangladesh doctors. TIA! 🙂
