Hello! I started applying for I.T. jobs online as soon as I arrived in Sydney on April 27.
Finally, naka receive na din ako ng official job offer for a permanent position na in-applyan ko nung June.
Here's the timeline:
June 17 - Applied for the job thru seek.com
July 11 - Interview with HR
July 16 - Interview with the Dept. Head & TL
July 30 - I was informed by the HR that hiring for the role was cancelled due to restructuring (ouch)
August 13 - I was asked by the HR if I was still interested (yAy! of course I said yes :p )
August 20 - HR told me that the team thought I was too senior for the role and they did not have the budget for my experience level ( eye rolled, seriously???)
August 20 - I replied saying that I am really interested to join and willing to use my skills to contribute to their success (walang sukuan, hehe)
August 21 - HR replied saying that the team appreciates my enthusiasm and wants to meet with me again (yAy ulit)
August 23 morning - Interview with the team
August 23 afternoon - HR sent me the official job offer (thank GOD!)
The salary was way below what I asked for, but after tax, super, and projected monthly expenses, I figured out that I can still save around 30% of my net pay, that I think is good enough.
I'm single btw, and my budget includes phone, fare, haircut, insurance, remittance, allowance, utilities, grocery, etc. I'm staying with my sister, so my budget does not include rent.
Advice sa akin ni @TasBurrfoot before (thanks bro), at nababasa ko din dito, wag na muna masyadong mapili, at importante ang local experience.
