DOST Travel CLearance

I was a DOST-SEI Merit scholar during my undergraduate study and I just wanted to ask if anyone here is a DOST scholar and had a successful skilled independent visa application without completing the required years of service to the Philippines.

I am required to render 5 years of service, but so far I only have 3.6 years.

@wmmartin2 hindi ako DOST scholar pero I think walang problema yung visa application itself pero hindi ka lang makakaalis ng bansa dahil you need to complete the 5yr bond sa PH.. ayun lang ang sa tingin ko ah.

@Hunter_08 Thank you. Matagal na kasing lifted yung ban sa mga DOST scholars to travel out of the country. Dahil dito, maraming nakakaalis ng bansa for travel/short amount of time without encountering problems from Bureau of Immigration (BI). Pero kapag kapag migration na ang purpose ng pag-alis ng bansa, I wonder kung magkakaroon ba ng problema sa (BI).

Hello @wmmartin2 , same here, I was a DOST scholar too pero I have completed my service and was issued Clearance from DOST. Just last month when I applied for NBI Clearance (kasi requirement yun for visa application), I was called for a Quality Control interview and was requested to present my DOST clearance kasi nakatag ang name ko under NBI with pending service obligation. Narelease naman ang NBI Clearance ko after presenting my clearance letter from DOST. But 2 years ago when I requested NBI Clearance, hit list lang then after 2 weeks nakuha ko na ang NBI Clearance ko. Recent lang po tong Quality Control or baka natiming lang sakin.

@msun0416 Thank you for sharing! Clarify ko lang po, sa Visa application, wala naman NBI clearance requirement, only police clearance per official website @ border.gov.au. Parang undeclared requirement po ba ang NBI clearance sa visa application? Thanks!

You will need to complete yung year of service or pay yung remaining bond if gusto mo umalis na hindi pa complete yung service mo. Pero you can start naman na kasi hindi pa need ng NBI for assessment and lodging EOI. Need lang NBI pag meron ka na invitation to apply. So you can start gathering documents na required ng assessing body mo and preparing for English test.

@wmmartin2 Need mo nang clearance certificate from DOST to be presented sa NBI.

Although lifted ang travel ban sa mga scholars at former scholars(those rendering service). Ma-enjoy mo lang travel ban sa mga Visa-free countries (ASEAN COUNTRIES, Brazil etc), dahil wala naman pangalan natin sa Bureau of Immig ng Pinas.

(batch 2003 grants-onwards is when the travel ban was lifted.. not sure with this fact.... I read it somewhere long time ago.. nalimutan ko na where..)

So if need mo mag-apply for VISA, one of the requirements is an NBI clearance kung saan naka-reflect ang DOST-SEI status natin. Be it for a short time, long term or for migration purposes.

It's either you render service or you pay the amount plus 12% ata yun... Either way madali lang naman cia parehas.. as long as you comply with the requirements..

@wmmartin2 agree with all of their responses..pwde mo nang istart ang assessment mo..matagal din ang process..sa akin, it took me 3 months bago nakareceive ng favorable letter from EA even if fast track assessment pa yon and 2 months to prepare CDR and all relevant skills requirements. At the same time, the English test will need some preparation as well to be able to hit Proficient or even Superior for higher chance of being invited earlier..Timing din mafinish mo yan once you reach 5 years of employment at makakuha ng DOST clearance para sa visa lodging soon. I was a DOST scholar as well and needed talaga yan for NBI at passport. Always akong hit sa NBI dahil dyan..hehe

@msun0416 ung quality control check mo, this year lang? Hit list din ako dati, eh. Kaso di ko alam kung saan ko nailagay ung freedom letter ko (freedom talaga, haha!) at based din ako sa SG. Plan namin kumuha sana on October, sa pag-uwi.

@jazmyne18, yes, first time ko and this year lang ako na quality control (maybe because the purpose of my NBI Clearance this time is Visa Australia). Advice ng QC after the interview, magkeep daw ako palagi ng copy ng freedom letter kasi hindi daw mabilis maremove ang name ko sa database nila lalo at madalas daw eh dinedelete ang comments nila (ng hindi nila alam). hahaha... oh well... ganun talaga eh. Goodluck, sana mahanap mo na ang freedom letter mo <aprub>.

@vencel2017 Yes, 12% interest. Sa estimate ko, around 200k ang babayaran. So mas mainam nga na tapusin ko muna ang 5 years, habang nag-aaply for visa. Thanks!

@lottysatty Thanks! Start ko na then magprepare for EA assessment and for IELTS. Hopefully by the time for EOI submission, tapos ko ng 5 years, or mapaliit ko lan lang yung babayaran sa DOST.

@wmmartin2 magPTE ka nalang..accepted na ng EA. Mas higher chance magkasuperior unlike IELTS. Been there na kasi hehhe Goodluck 🙂

@msun0416 Nagkaroon din ng hit yun husband ko when we applied for NBI clearance. Yun sa case nya, pina-claim pa rin sa NBI main (Taft) yun clearance nya kahit may dala kaming freedom letter nun. Same case din ba sayo?

Guys, balak ko dito na sa HK kumuha ng NBI clearance. Need din kaya ako mag-appear before NBI personally to present my DOST clearance?
