In my case yung master degree ko but didn't really matter. There are different types of interviews, initial interview (getting to know about you muna), then next is a technical interview or technical test minsan live coding. Then yung iba merong presentation interview, they will ask you to prepare ppt slides, yung topic depende sa knila. Then final interview na Importante din na naka AU format yung CV mo para mas mapansin kanila and always send it with cover letter.

Sa case ko, I focus on obtaining IT certificates here in Australia. They're more on LOCAL experience. Mahirap sa first kase wala pa local experience. Kaya go muna sa entry level jobs. The working visa rights is also a big factor to land a job here in Australia. However, I sometimes negotiate with recruiters or employers. Lol.
Job interview tips: Highlight your skills, Communication skills is a great advantage (esp if you speak English fluently add-on yon). They sometimes ask you to do practical exam (coding).
Resume: Use Australian CV format. Do cover letter.
Do your best during the interview. Mahirap maka land kahit interview lang. Kaya once you get an interview, focus focus And check JD and company background.
They do hire people with skills. Hindi ko na experience na they will allocate time to train me for basics π€£ Train for specific platform na ginagamit nila.

@gelangel Though I'm a Software Tester but based on my experience mahirap talaga kumuha ng first local experience. Yung una kong work dito hindi sya related sa IT but still I grab the opportunity para din kumita.
If you need any help or you have questions just DM me, I'm willing to help and answer all your questions.

Hi there, try applying sa Planit bootcamp annually. I was also looking for a job in IT before and natanggap ako sa bootcamp nila last year as a software tester. Since you have full working rights, pwedeng-pwede ka mag apply. Also had no IT exp before so challenge nga sya, pero it all favored me in the end hehe. I think they run their bootcamps around May to June, so check their announcements online. All the best!

If you're applying for a developer role, some companies might ask for your github tho not truly required. They just want to check how your coding style is. However, if you're into web design/UI/IX roles then they might want to check some of your works.
If you have IT experience sa pinas, mas maganda magfocus ka dun sa field na yon. When I first came here, a lot of recruiters are calling me already, so for me, if you have a strong dev background then that wouldn't be an issue na mapansin nila. Nahirapan lang ako maghanap ng work dati dahil sa work rights ko because they preferred someone who can work full time. Also, mas pinapahalagaan nila yung experience mo (whether it's local or overseas) so make your resume enticing as much as possible but don't lie about the stuff you put on your resume! It might backfire on you.
However, if you're looking into switching to a different IT role, you might want to check data analyst positions too. I've heard from some of my classmates/colleagues that some companies do accept non-IT peeps basta marunong mag SQL. Worth the try. Goodluck sa job hunting!

It doesn't matter but it will add to your credentials. May few interviews ako na i highlighted my certs. For support role, maganda ITIL. It's an advantage but not a requirement.
