Rental payment methods depend on the owner/agent. I doubt homeowners will accept credit cards, since payments via cards require eftpos machines or arrange for direct-debit (which attracts extra cost for setting up systems, probably not worth the cost for homeowners).

My place in Sydney was cash only, while in Brisbane I pay through bank transfer (using BSB and Account Number of housing agent). Australia is mainly a cashless society, so paying via direct bank transfer or PayID is the easiest and most convenient.

I'm not sure how expensive sim cards are at the airport. If you don't intend to call or text someone with your sim card, I suggest you wait until you get to the city, then just purchase a starter sim at the grocery (Coles, Woolies, Aldi) as they are relatively cheap.

As I've mentioned before, living costs will vary based on your budgeting and lifestyle. Rent takes a big chunk of your income, so you need to really manage your budget well. For a family of 3, you can potentially look at 2BR apartments, but the exact cost will depend on your location. If it's near CBD, expect to pay more (which means you'll have less savings).

Food costs can be relatively affordable if more on home cooking kayo instead of eating out. If you will be sending your child to daycare or extracurricular activities (piano lessons, gymnastics, etc.) or if you will travel around the country, those are additional expenses that you have to budget for. If you're getting a car, you need to consider your rego (registration), insurance, maintenance costs, and petrol/gas. Medicare doesn't cover dental, optical, chiropractor.... so you'll need to purchase Extras health insurance too. If you are supporting family members back home, sending money home is an additional expense too (if you don't, then that's savings for you).

So the amount of income you need to support your family here (and back home) will depend on your personal situation. Yung income mo (whether 80k or not) mababawasan pa yan ng tax, which can be quite steep at the higher brackets (but at least nakikita mo kung saan napupunta yung tax mo). I've read that uni grads would start entry-level work with a salary range of AUD 55-65k. But I suggest you do your due diligence and research into average salary for your profession.

If you're concerned with how much money you can bring in, remember that your first job here doesn't need to be your forever job. It can be temp or short-term work, just enough to support you financially while you're trying to gain local experience. Then when you're more familiar with the Aussie work culture and your professional value, you can change jobs or negotiate for a raise.

You can check out realestate.com.au for specific pricing. Pag malapit ka sa CBD, expect to pay around AUD 600pw for a studio. The farther you are from the city, for sure mas mura, pero ikaw ang magdedecide kung willing ka magtravel ng malayo (at gumising ng maaga) para lang makatipid sa rent.

Yes, AirBnb might be a good option, but even better if you can crash with friends or family for a week or so (especially if there's limited affordable listings on AirBnb).

Hello po! Sa mga nakapag-big move, or magbi-big move, magkano po ang baon niyo? Single lang ako if magmo-move. Asking lang kasi na-invite ako kaagad (a happy surprise) and gusto ko sana mag-budget na para handa. Hehe.

May mga nakita po akong calculation to help you determine yung costs, kaso naga-adjust pa rin ako sa denomination at pagtantsa ng presyo compared to PHP. Hoping may makapag-share!

Kaka BM lang namin so I'm afraid I can't be of help. But i would say the more na savings much better para makapag settle kayu dito. Depending on the city na magstay kayu, if need ng car then u would have to buy kahit ung mga second hand. It actually depends sa inyo.

Hello everyone! For sure natanong na ito sa inyo, is there a way to apply and makakuha ng TFN and Medicare while nasa Pinas palang? Thank you!

    TFN

    a) AU Bank Details
    b) Phone Number in AU
    c) AU Address
    d) Online Application Form

    Medicare
    a) Date of Arrival - paano kung nadelay yung flight mo. Be truthful and accurate dapat ang data.
    b) AU address - kung saan imamail yung card
    c) VEVO details
    d) Passport details
    e) Phone Number in AU
    f) AU Bank details
    g) Online Application Form

Both TFN and Medicare can be applied through online.

Hello po! We also got our grant few days ago. I am currently pregnant and plan to deliver in AU.

Hello everyone! For sure natanong na ito sa inyo, is there a way to apply and makakuha ng TFN and Medicare while nasa Pinas palang? Thank you!

    TFN

    a) AU Bank Details
    b) Phone Number in AU
    c) AU Address
    d) Online Application Form

    Medicare
    a) Date of Arrival - paano kung nadelay yung flight mo. Be truthful and accurate dapat ang data.
    b) AU address - kung saan imamail yung card
    c) VEVO details
    d) Passport details
    e) Phone Number in AU
    f) AU Bank details
    g) Online Application Form

Both TFN and Medicare can be applied through online.

Hello po! We also got our grant few days ago. I am currently pregnant and plan to deliver in AU.

Yes, pero hassle kasi you need to go to Medicare to update your bank.

(manifesting!)
Salamat!

Formal process yan, nung nag apply ako sa house rents before nageemail talaga sila ng forms to be accomplished by the landlord/agent ng house na pinagstayan mo dati. Those agents ang responsible magforward ng docs sa inaaplyan mong place such as tenancy agreement, yung ledger detailing your stay and other stuff about sa pagstay mo sa place nila. I don't think na BnBs can do that but let's wait for others.

Good day to all po! Kindly asking po regarding sa tanong na *** How many Family members?*** sa EOI application. 3 po kami, me, my wife and my son.

Hindi big deal yan, as long as tama claim mo sa points.
