Hi All,
We are currently exploring visa options para makapasok sa AUS. Family of 3 kami na nasa SG ngayon. Either mag try muna kami ng 189 or 190 , OR last option is student visa ang isa samin.
Me:
Age: 32 y/o
Work: Sr. Network Engr (Singapore), 7+ years exp.
PRC Licensed ECE (expired)
CCIE certified + other Cisco Certifications
Wife:
Age 27 y/o
4+ years Pharmacist in PH (housewife since pandemic)
PRC Registered Pharmacist
Ano po sa tingin nyo ang best option? Aware po kami na mas ok direct PR although madugo. Now kasi ay nahihirapan ako magcollect ng employment letter at payment evidence ko from previous employers.
If last option po is using SV, mas ok padin ba na si wife ang mag SV like Masteral Degree pra full time work ako? Or ako parin ang mag pursue ng SV para magamit at mdagdagan padin points for PR later in future?
Salamat po sa any tips and ideas.

Maybe check what's needed for your wife to get a positive skills assessment for Pharmacist. Kahit paiba-iba ang rules ng DHA, consistent na mas malaki ang chance na mainvite ng mga nasa medical & allied health professions.

My personal opinion: I think both your ages are prime pa for the current points system, and seeing as the points system is currently being reconsidered (they're looking to change it though no definitive plan pa for this), I would try for the 189/190/491 first at this time. Madugo nga lang talaga ang documentation part, I feel you. But if you think you can find a way to get the documents you need, at least kahit man lang until skills assessment (which would determine if you can proceed with GSM or not) then I think it's worth a try.
Then have the SV route as a last resort. To me that's more prudent since yung process for SV application is relatively quicker and easier than the GSM route.
Based sa info na binigay mo, both your occupations are in high demand—healthcare professions are priority din. But of course, that's not the end-all be-all. Many other factors to consider like how quickly you'll get invited, if the system will have changed by then, and so on. But again, if I were in your position I would try the skills assessment first to take advantage of the current system and if that fails, go for SV.

I don’t think student visa should be an option given your background. Too premature to decide on the visa options. Have both your skills assessed first, so your English then lodge your EOI. Be open for visa subclasses 189,190 and 491 and see which invite you’ll get. That’s how I always guide my clients. Don’t be fixated with a particular visa. Whatever is meant to be will fall into place.

+1 to this.
I also dont understand why people choose SV pathway since there is no direct PR guaranteed in that route. In the end, they will still go through the GSM pathway at most after their PY to gain more points. But given all the cost and time SV route takes, I dont understand why it is still being considered by many. Not to mention, the ever-changing landscape of migration where rules may change yearly.
Maintindihan ko pa kung genuinely gusto mag aral ng tao, then yes go for it. Or parang Canada yung SV system ng Australia na merong direct pathway to PR. But it isnt the case.

A lot of people choose the student pathway kasi yun ang madalas namemention ng karamihan. Add the fact na 'mabilis makakarating ng Aus' sa student visa and yan nakakahila sa tao. I'm a product of SV but I only did that back then kasi 1 year na akong naghintay for an invite pero wala ako nakuha. So in my personal opinion, last resort ang SV always. I'll be real, walang kahit isang positive side sa SV, puro negative:
Mas magandang madelay ang pagpunta mo sa Aus even for a year+ kung PR ka naman darating dito, kesa sa andito ka agad on an SV and suffering long term

Yeah, no offense meant to people who are SV pathway product like yourself, I respect you.
But in the beginning, if 'mabilis makakarating ng Aus' is the only 'panghila' and seen by most people, then I'd say they are being short-sighted with its 'promise'. And if personally someone asked me about it, I'd strongly not recommend it. Wouldn't cross my mind.
In the end, they decide what suits them well, albeit, it's their future that is on the line.
Magegets ko rin siguro kung sasabihin na YOLO sya ng tipo ng tao. Haha.

You'd be surprised bro, sobrang daming tao dito na 3yrs+ na sa SV then dun lang nila malalaman na walang pathway ang course nila. At that point lang magsstart mag isip pano ma PR. YOLO literal LOL
To be honest nga, di ko nagamit inaral ko sa Aus for my PR. Balak ko kasi initially na mag aral ng kahit anong diploma course lang para makagain ng points for regional study after 2 yrs. E nainvite na ako ng 491 after 1 year palang, it all boiled down sa ECE degree ko pa rin haha.

Yeah, exactly my point. Meron rin akong kakilala sa regional Victoria sila ngayon. Family of 4(!!!). Been there for 5yrs on SV + 485, then recently lang sya nakahanap ng 482 sponsor. Imagine that!
Medyo nag YOLO ka rin e, hahaha! But good for you, at least nag bunga, in the end.

Whenever someone asks me if it's a good idea to come over on a SV, I always tell them to consider it only if there's no way for them to get a positive skills assessment.
Nakakapanglumo talaga yung dami nang nagpupunta dito on a SV without having any idea kung paano maging PR & yet they are eligible to submit an EOI naman. Andyan yung RN na nag-aaral ng MBA, yung IT taking an aged care course, etc. Sayang yung time & money.
I always say it's not so important na makapunta dito kaagad. Ang important e pagdating mo dito alam mong you can stay here permanently. Hindi naman race yung migration.

Precisely. Dami kasing nasisilaw dun sa "madali makarating ng AU through SV" without formulating what is next.
It's like getting away from one miserable situation to another. It's just sad, really.

part of the thinking kasi ng people is 'all sunshine and rainbows' na pag nakaapak overseas. Ayaw din maghintay ng matagal ng karamihan syempre, kaya todo advise ako dito sa forum na wag magkakamali ng ganyan haha.

Thanks all for your inputs. Gaya ng nasa original post, last resort ang SV that's why nilagay ko yung 189/190 as first options.
Ang SV lang naisip namin as last resort is for my wife na mag SV then for me to have a full work rights. I am thinking na if may full work rights ako, dadating yung time na makahanap kami ng employer na magsponsor for working visa then in the end mag apply for PR. Kasi if galing sa pinas or even sa SG without proper visa, tingin ko mahirap? Or if meron man bihira talaga. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I am already collecting documents for skills assessment sa ACS and one day magppasa ako once complete na, hoping to get positive assessment.

If you felt like PR through the invited pathway is a long shot due to all the documentation required, then SV is a way longer shot.
Think it through, brother. Best of luck to your family.

At the end of the day, whatever works for you. Just be mindful that when resorting to this option….
2.In any case that your wife Will successfully be granted with the student visa, given that it’s a temporary visa, you are not immune to changes in legislations and procedures that may happen within those 2 years prior to getting qualified for graduate visa, which is the next step once your wife finishes her course
That the full work rights only apply if partner is studying masters. This was only offered recently due to the pandemic. Government can easily decide to limit the work rights whenever they wish.
Not because you have full work rights, you’ll be guaranteed to get a job related to your field. Be aware, you will be competing with those who have local experience. Hence be open that it will take some time if ever you’ll land with the appropriate job - maybe you won’t.
I’ve had clients, whilst we’re processing their skills assessment/at EOI stage, who have tried to find employer sponsored jobs and have been successful. Hence, they enter on a 482 visa whist we carry on with their cases. Some of them have PR now, some are waiting for visa decision, some, we’re currently preparing their visa application.
Student visa could be the quickest way to get there but doesn’t mean it will be the easiest path for anyone. Not to mention, the costs it entails. I’m a product of a student visa myself but I am very selective in assisting someone on these. I think in the over 10 years I have been in this industry I’ve only assisted at least 3 clients.
An education agency will sell the idea that studying will help you get the PR…but won’t disclose the issues that come along with it….why? - because their job is to recruit students. The more students they convince, the higher their commission from the education institution will be - job done for them.
So in summary, if you decide to opt for student visa pathway, make sure you have considered the repercussions and are not doing it blindfolded. As long as you’re willing to take all these risks, then I guess, you’ll be ready for the journey. All the best.

In relation to #4, even if you end up competing with other applicants who also don't have local work experience, if they have a "better" visa that will be a point in their favour & your SV will be a point against you, even with full working rights.

Hi everyone!
Question po sa mga nag process and/or na grant ng Visa 189 na may dalang dependents (spouse and children), nag skills assessment and english test pa po ba yung spouse niyo? Required po ba or are they optional lang if you want to claim extra points? Salamat po sa sasagot. God bless!

optional in the sense na pwede mo i-submit yung EOI mo without this (and not claim partner points) pero the DHA WILL still request for your spouse's English competency as it is required for them to at least have functional English. Check here for the requirements from your spouse:
https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-independent-189/points-tested#HowTo
For me, better if your spouse just take the English test with you.

Correct.
Another option is to submit a Certification of English as Medium of Instruction (CEMI) issued by the partner's university.
Pero meron rin ako nabasa before (di ko tanda kung dito sa forum) na kahit merong CEMI, nag require pa rin ng functional English test result ang DHA. So, mas ok nga talaga mag English test rin si partner for better footing.

Skills assessment is not required but if you want to be strategic, what we do with our clients who have partners with occupation on the list, is we encourage both to do the skills assessment for higher points and increase chances of invite given there will be 2 occupations to bank on instead of just one. - if that makes sense.

Hi! With your strong background as a Sr. Network Engineer and CCIE certifications, the 189 or 190 skilled visas seem like great options for permanent residency. The student visa could be a backup, but I'd recommend consulting a migration agent to see which option best suits your situation. Good luck!
