Yes @mathilde9 this is a good year for Building and Construction Profession, Teachers, and Health Occupations. WA is usually inviting mostly applicants onshore WA applicants pre and post covid ngayon lang halos sila nag open interstate and offshore. Will see from their invitation rounds this FY. Sana ganito din sa ibang states na specified ang criteria. Para alam mo kung gaano kalaki ang chance ma-invite. Kung aasa ka ba ng sobra or not hehe!

Hospitality and Social worker din pla are in demand base dito. Apply na !

Invites could happen anytime soon as there is news that states have received their allocations already which are expected to be announced next week.

I have been eyeing this since it started making calls for skilled workers ,i know about the scheme that you mentioned it will be interesting how it goes for construction professionals out there too.Thanks for the info.

Yes since last program year, they changed that for all occupations on 491 subclass so not just building and construction. This isn’t new at all.

Yes, we had a social event with WA few weeks ago here in London. That was the highlight. They’ll give the money in parts.

That was before, they took it out on
491 since last migration program year. We raised this issue last year when we met with the deputy premier during a round table meeting on his visit to London…a few months after, I was amazed they took it out - because in reality that requirement doesn’t make sense. Was great they looked into it.

This is a good year and opportunity - the first 1K plus skilled visas to be granted and landed a job with a WA employer in the building and construction sector in WA will get this scheme, is that right to say?

Well, WA has been closed to offshore (except with job offer) since 2017/2018. They’ve now opened up their doors again as they are really desperate for talents. With the potential influx of people, housing will be needed. Hence the incentive for those in building and construction to address the inevitable issue.

I cannot stress enough though that there are talks of overhauling the migration policies, points system, etc. the minister recently mentioned about raising the bar high for skilled migration. Changes will come soon, perhaps by next migration year at the earliest…so best to really get things going now before changes take place. If you know/think you meet the eligibility criteria, get things done now rather than later.

One can contemplate as much as he wants but that won’t take him anywhere. Getting things started now will. My decision to take my chance 20+years ago was one of the best if not the best decision I made in my life. It opened up a massive door of opportunities for me to which I’m enjoying right now. Hence I ended up in this industry to make a difference to aspiring migrants, especially amongst Filipinos. I know and understand exactly why you all want to leave - exact reason why I did. Unfortunately having the best education and the most comfortable life in the Philippines are not enough to assure one of a good future. If you’re able to seek greener pasture somewhere else, why wouldn’t you? Philippines will always be there but opportunities won’t.

Btw, if anyone with 189/190/491 grant who are in building & construction and are making the big move, send us your cv’s and could connect you with a recruiter who hopefully could help.

From what I read:

All occupations included in the list WA has released under CVSP in building and construction trade occupations are waived from an employment contract under 190 for this FY, the rest of the eligible occupations still need a contract of employment when you apply for GSMP under WASMOL Schedule 2

@RheaMARN1171933 Just a curious question - Do states in general send pre-invites all throughout the month or is there a stipulated day/week like 189 invitations?

As for 189 previous invitations, it happened on the fourth week of the invitation month and for December 2022 it happened on the 2nd week (most likely due to holiday break?)

There is no specific time states issue invite.

invitation rounds for 189 will be specified by DOHA.

Sad kc for the past years wala sa List ng WA ang 511112 Program / Project Administrator. Sana naman mag open sila for that occupation, lalo na kung construction people hanap nila. 😔
