Seeking Advice on Migration Pathway for My Partner (Early Childhood Educator) and Myself (Soft Eng.)

Hi everyone,

I recently joined this forum and would love to hear insights from experienced members regarding the best pathway for my partner and me to migrate to Australia.

Our Background:
Partner (Early Childhood Educator)

  • Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, Philippine Normal University
  • PRC Licensed Teacher
  • Completed a teaching practicum in an online setting with 7-9-year-olds (Grade 3)
  • Concern: ACECQA requires 10 days of practicum with 0-35-month-olds, 25 days with 3-5-year-olds, and at least 5 days with 5-year-olds and above.
  • 2 years of teaching experience:
  • 1 year teaching 2-5-year-olds (Pre-Nursery - Kindergarten)
  • 1 year teaching 6-8-year-olds (Grade 1-2)
  • 3 years as a private tutor (Started tutoring a child at age 2, now 5—not sure if this counts.)
  • Confident in achieving at least a proficient to superior score in IELTS. (I'm biased 😂)

Myself (Software Engineer)

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Polytechnic University of the Philippines
  • 2 years of work experience as a Software Engineer (Web Development)
  • Also confident in achieving at least a proficient to superior score in IELTS.

We believe the most cost-effective and strategic way to move is for my partner to secure a visa sponsorship (Subclass 482) as an Early Childhood Educator. This would help fund our eventual transition to a permanent residency visa (Subclass 189) if possible, considering its relatively fast processing time (45 days to 3 months) as I want to be with her right away.

So, we're thinking of taking these steps:

  • Take IELTS
  • Undergo ACECQA Qualification Assessment (Concern: We’re unsure if ACECQA will strictly require the 10-day practicum with 0-35-month-olds. Would voluntary work with a certificate be accepted? Or will my 2 year professional experience as a teacher be considered? For the remaining 35 days, her work experience and practicum should cover it.)
  • Find an employer willing to sponsor a Subclass 482 visa (ideally with relocation allowance, we've seen some job postings that have this)
  • ... (Unsure what comes next)

After 4th bullet, 'di ko na alam. We're just stuck on dwelling kung strict ba si ACECQA kasi ang mahal pa rin nung fee na 4,000 for qualification assessment and by looking at the 0-35 months old 10 day requirement, I don't know if that can be appealed.

For myself, the plan is:

  • Take IELTS
  • Get an ACS skills assessment
  • Submit EOI (Expression of Interest) for Subclass 189
  • Apply for Visa

Additional Information:

  • We are not married and not living together due to our families’ conservative backgrounds.
  • We don’t have shared bills except for gadgets we purchased together. We both contribute financially to our respective families.

We’d really appreciate any advice, particularly regarding:

ACECQA’s qualification assessment – How strict are they about the 10-day practicum for 0-35-month-olds? Can voluntary work count?
Our overall plan – Are we on the right track, or is there a better approach?
Thanks in advance to anyone who comes across this post and shares their insights! 😊

    HI!

Early Childhood Teacher - This is a priority occupation
    Software Developer - Non-priority

Get the assessments done - once Skills Assessments are eligible for both or even with the ECT nga lang pwede na ,mabilis lang kasi pag ganito occupation, but to increase yung chances get the ACS skills assessment too.

Apply both EOIs with each making one a primary and secondary applicant and vice versa , sa visa application as long as one is priority they will treat the application as priority processing.

English test hindi gaano advisable si IELTS for me to get a superior score (although need pla to for teachers na use IELTS for Skills Assessment) , try PTE other than skills assessment if goal is ma maximise points nila .

Skills Assessment for ECT - may teachers in Australia thread dito , search mo lang to learn more about it.
Share ko dito may link sa thread na ECT in Australia

Suitable Visa - 189 /190- time lines - mabilis din naman ang 190 but you need to comply specific states requirements , if ECT mabilis lang to but also need to know the minimum points na naiinvite which is also competitive . Can see more about minimum scores na nainvite sila sa website na to :

    https://smartvisaguide.com/occupations/241111?view=rounds

ECT for 189 recent and previous rounds

heto namn for Software Engineer (not sure if that fits or the same sa Developer ,but you can infer na mataas minimum points score for ICT occupations across the board)

Regarding marital status - being married /single /de-facto has its pros and cons , if your not living together that will be difficult to prove your relationship as the latter, being single will get individual visas -then get the partner visa route which will take you time away fr each other (when applying PR visas like 189/190/491-you need to remain single until a decision is made sa visa )

sa 482 naman if meron employer go with it na may mag offer go with this first and gawing dependent si partner -formalise your partnership para makasama mo na or get married after the visa ,then sponsoran mo sya.

Over-all plan - you just have to start taking action

Hi @Ozdrims, thank you for taking the time to reply on my thread. Just in response, I will reply to every aspect of your reply as well.

Will definitely do this! Right now the budget is only strictly for her to migrate first so for teacher's assessment muna. I have read the latter part of your reply and will consult the teachers' thread kung ano yung kukunin na assessment. I have read some na AISTL yung need for 189 and ACECQA naman kung 482, but will confirm! (Or of someone wants to confirm here sa thread would be nice hehe)

Having said that it's only going to be her to apply first going to Australia, will EOI be her having as primary and myself as secondary kahit na de-facto relationship kami? (again, not live-in. If this is the case, will this still be credited sa EOI?)

Thanks for this! I believe IELTS nga talaga for teachers and PTE for myself as a Software Engineer professional.

I really have questions regarding 190. How does one be eligible for this or apply? Ang alam ko lang talaga is 189 pero is it similar to 189 pero you are being sponsored to go there? And what does being sponsored mean, sila (sponsor) yung magbabayad nung 4770 AUD?

For the marital status, sa 189/190, are there cases na pwede ang de-facto relationship makapunta kagad kahit na yung isa lang yung nagaapply for visa?

Pero again, just to summarize, the plan we're taking is for her to apply for it. Priority is 482 if may magsposponsor, if eligible ako as dependent, then I'd go with her. If wala natanggap sa kanya for 482, ipon talaga for 189/190, and again if eligible ako, pwede ba ako as dependent? Pero if all points na di ako pwede as dependent, I'll apply as an individual. Most likely 189 din pero hindi lang kasi talaga kaya kami sabay as of the moment.

Thank you po uli for your response and all the links that you attached. This is very much appreciated.
