Hello po.. Ung friend ko po what he did is he opened an AU account online. Then he transferred his money to that bank in AU while he was still here in SG. Since he was not sure den at that time, konti lang ung nitransfer nyang money to AU. Wala naman shang naging problema when he got to AU.

Another thing naman po (which I still have to check), meron po akong nabasa sa Citibank na pede ka ATA magtransfer ng funds citi to citi free of charge. http://www.citibank.com.sg/gcb/personal_banking/personal_banking.htm#tabs

Participating countries include Australia, China, Guam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, IPB Singapore , Malaysia, Non Resident Indians (NRI), Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America and Vietnam.

So i still have to check sa citi.

heheh ayos lang. yes my friend who migrated to OZ did that. nag demand draft cya then sa OZ pinapalit. ang draw back lang like any other remittance center. pag mababa ang palita lugi tayo. :) or maganda rin ung suggestion ni KTP.

thanks Aolee! parang nakakatakot kasi mgtransfer ng money ng hindi talaga sure kung wlang magiging issue s withdrawal pagdating dun. mas ok n cguro yung demand draft then rest in cash. salamat po ulit!

Open a multi currency account either in HSBC or Citibank that's the easiest way. Once you're here your SG atm is still accessible and you can withdraw AUD. Actually as long as your Atm has a mastercard or visa logo it doesn't matter. Kahit bpi or metrobank cards ng pinas it will convert to AUD. Then once here you may open anywhere in local banks.

HSBC is well known all over the world stronger than Citibank.

I tried checking once with the ANZ branch in Raffles Place - they said they can be able to assist in letting you open your account with an ANZ Branch in Australia. You can be able to transfer some money there. The thing here is that you cannot be able to access this easily (meaning you cannot withdraw from this account or place it in a higher yielding time deposit) until you present yourself physically to an ANZ Branch in Australia eventually.

If you are already sure of your move to AU - I think the above is a good option. Otherwise, baka hassle if di ka sure and you already transferred your money. For sure you can get your money back in the event that you will no longer migrate to Oz but it will be tedious and I dunno the process at this point. eheheh!! :)

This might also be available to HSBC as well and Citi...

Another option is to just withdraw money every now and then in your HSBC, Citi or ANZ acct as chances are they do not charge any fee for doing an overseas withdrawal as long as it is done in the same bank (i.e. Citibank a/c withdraw in Citibank Melbourne ATM) - the only problem I can see here is that they usually charge around 2 - 3% fx conversion levy for such withdrawal. :)

@LokiJr - boss, sa experience ko (withdrawing from Citibank whilst on vacation) mejo mas malaki ang "hidden FX" charges nito at around 2-3% versus the market rate for the day.

Although you will not see any deduction but you will see it when you convert to get the fx rate...

Another option would be to check the remittance rates sa Lucky Plaza - of course this will only be an option if you can manage to open an account in Oz prior to the move.

    2 ways:

WIRE TRANSFER - ask your bank how much and what are their requirements...

OPEN A MULTI CURRENCY ACCOUNT - go and ask HSBC or Citibank how....

or just check your ATM card or bank card, visit or call your SG bank and ask them if you can withdraw monies in your ATM card if you will travel overseas and how much is the charge. Tell them how much is the daily maximum withdrawal you prefer...

BEST ANSWER..send it to me hahaha joke... :))

Ngwork ako sa SG for 2 years and kakamigrate lng nmen ng hubby ko dto sa OZ last Aug 2012.

Then the rest, finund transfer ko na lng from DBS to Westpac. My option den na iwithdraw mo na lng through ATM dto basta my maestro/cirrus logo ung singapore atm mo. Good luck!

Hi @diane16 - how much did DBS charge you for the wire transfer? Sa Citibank kasi I saw that apart from the SGD30 flat fee there is another fee of 1/8% of your transfer amount.

Saan kayo sa Australia? How is it so far? Sorry out of topic! Ehehehe...

Hi @psychoboy That time (August-Sept 2012), ngkaron ng promotion ang dbs/posb for overseas fund transfer. Free of charge ung fund transfer kahit mgkanong amount. Wala nmang naging problema nung ngtranfer ako. Unfortunately, tapos na ung promo ngyon.

You can check dbs/posb website for the charges. Ito ung website http://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/payments/overseas-funds-transfers/outward-telegraphic-transfers/servicecharges/default.page?

Sa pagkakaintindi ko, mas ok ung dbs (than citibank) dahil wala ng additional fee of 1/8% of your transfer amount tulad ng nabanggit mo.

    Good luck!

I just opened an account with NAB; but I am still looking more efficient and least costly way if possible.
Up for this - I was able to successfully transfer AUD500 to our NAB account; I did this using fund transfer from DBS.

I was debited a total of SGD25 as cable fee from DBS - further to this, there was an additional 1% of the SGD equivalent of the AUD500 debited, this is agent's fee debited by Commonwealth Bank as they are the intermediary between DBS and NAB.

The rates we got were good though...

pwede po ba pa-PM ng details? :)

yan din kasi iniisip ko na way. open an account online tapos wire na agad ng money sa account na yun. pero, iniisip ko kung mahal ba magfund transfer? yung 25SGD ba ay standard na fee kahit magkano? tapos magkakatalo na lang dun sa 1% of the SGD equivalent ngililipat mong money? and another question, once mag-open ng account online, pwede na talaga agad mag-transfer ng money dun kahit di ka pa nagpapakita talaga sa bank? sorry ang daming tanong. :)

    @jaero : thanks! :)
@hotshot, I guess @jaero answered everything all already...

Worth noting that the 1% was charged by Commonwealth Bank when it was used as a conduit to transfer money from DBS to NAB.

I am trying to open an account sa Commonwealth Bank - logically, it I have an account to them and diretso na ang money from DBS, then I don't think kailangan pa magbayad ng 1% charge.

Makakatipid din dito kahit papaano... :)

I will let you know if makaka-open ako ng Commonwealth Bank na account. It is not as straight forward kasi as NAB where you really fill in your details sa website nila. Commonwealth back just requires you to leave your contacts and they will get back to you.

Pwede diretso magwire ng money to NAB? No... DBS does not have a relationship with NAB and as such it needs to course the money to an intermediary/agent; which in this case is Commonwealth.

Commonwealth charges us a fee for this as a result of this service...

    Hope this helps! :)

ANZ Singapore operates on a different license from ANZ in Australia... Apart from the same name, they don't have any direct connection.
