Migrating to Australia with high hopes

TL DR: I am migrating to Australia this May and I need all the information I can get sana po matulungan niyo ako any information will help.

My name's Lawrence I'm a 21 years old male from the Philippines and I'm set to migrate to Australia this month of May. I have done most of the paperwork here in the Philippines. I'm the youngest in family and I have 2 brothers that are considered Australian Citizens as well through Descent. Mayroon na po akong Philippine and Australian Passport kasama po nito ang Australian Citizenship ko

I am a college graduate with a degree in Arts and seeing how my 2 brothers that graduated before me can't afford to pay the rent and the bills here alone I don't see how I could help. I tried working as a 3D modeller and as a call center agent here and that's my only experience I can write in my resume. I don't know how that would go a long way in my journey to look for a job pero pinoy naman tayo, I'm willing to work as a cashier in retail, dishwasher in the back of a restaurant, etc.. just to help my family have a future.

I'm a first timer and right now I'm not knowledgeable with the world that I'm going to pursue. Gusto ko lang po sana magtanong sainyo yung mga kaalaman na kailangan kong dalhin pag pupunta na ako doon.

I did some research about things that I have to do before and after I go there and since wala po akong contact initial na plano ko po is aim for Sydney since it's the dun po sa tingin ko maraming mga open na trabaho and hopefully I'd be able to find work in less than a week after arriving. Right now I'm looking for a place to rent through the internet and my last resort is going there without a place to rent and looking for a hostel where I could stay maybe for a week and look for work in the day and look for someplace to share a place at night using my laptop.

Besides po sa initial plan ko eto po yung mga gusto ko sanang itanong:

1. Sa mga nakuha ko pong information sa website na to before going it's best na tatakan ko daw po muna yung passport(Visa evidencing/Visa sticker) ko sa Commission on Filipino Overseas(CFO) is that still applicable hangang ngayon or hindi na po siya requirement?;

2. PAL ang pinakamahal ko pong nakitang kuhaan ng ticket next is CebuPac which was my current best choice until I read something about IOM which was cheaper and had better allowed maximum baggage. Marerecommend niyo din po ba ang IOM?

3. Mas maganda po ba kung maga-apply na po ako ng account sa bangko habang andito pa ko sa Pilipinas tulad ng Commonwealth Bank at ANZ Bank? Mayroon din po akong nabasa tungkol dito sa pagkaltas nila ng 1.5% ng annual gross salary kumbaga yun na po yung bayad ko sa serbisyo nila? Kaya suggestion po ng ibang tao rito na kung magaapply ng bank account sa National Australia Bank nalang since wala po silang kinakaltas at walang minimum tama po ba yun?

4. Ano pong masasabi niyo sa pag apply ng Medicare at pagsabay na register sa Centrelink

5. Mayroon din po akong nabasa na kailangan ng points para lang makapagrenta?

Kulang pa po ako sa impormasyon kaya po dadagdagan ko pa ang aking pagre-research pero kung may maibabahagi po kayong mga kaalaman saakin malaki pong tulong yon dahil wala po akong kakilala sa Australia, kasabay nito ang kakulangan ko sa experience.

Marami pa po akong gagawin para magresearch ng mga kailangan gawin. Any information will be helpful and would help me go a long way. Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng makakatulong!

Also narinig ko po sa mga kaibigan ko na may show money daw po na kailangan ipakita since hindi papayagan ng Australia na pumasok kayo dun para lang maging homeless.

1. Di ako sure about this kasi na mention mo na may Australian passport ka na
2. I have tried booking thru IOM pero wala naman makasagot sakin kung pano
3. Yes. I applied na for bank account. I will collect my NAB ATM card na once I reached Perth
4. Not sure about this
5. Yes, if you're going to take the whole house. pero if room, i think no need na.

@Bagongluma if anything, ang bata mo pa the world is yours. now, to your questions:

1) kelangan ng PDOS para maka-alis USING philippine passport. pero since may OZ passport ka, pwede eto na gamitin to. and if i am not mistaken, di ka nila pipigilan. ung cousins ko have both canadian and philippine passports. canadian passports ginagamit nila everytime bumabalik sa pinas, so di na kelangan ng PDOS. if you want confirmation, pwede ka tumawag sa BI (immigration).

2) mangga-galing ako ng SG, so di ko alam but if gusto mo, pwede ka dumaan dito kasi maraming promos ung mga airline na mas mura kesa from pinas.

3) most banks charge you pag di mo na meet ung criteria. for example, dapat at least 2K pumapasok sa bank account mo every month. so, pinili ko NAB. walang charge kahit walang activity. though, i am not sure sa case mo kasi OZ passport holder ka. better email them.

4) as a matter of fact, kaka-register ko lang for medicare. sobrang bait ng staff nila. for efficiency, andito ung post ko about this:

5) as what @se29m said. kasama na dito ung studio.

6) not sure sa ibang visa categories, pero ung 189 walang show money. also since OZ citizen ka, mas lalong hindi ka na kelangan magpakita nito.

@se29m Thank you po sa reply so glad I found this page lots of information flowing and madaming feedback agad. Mukang settled na po ako with opening a bank account sa NAB since okay lang magsimula with zero balance and wala pang kaltas sa annual salary.

Also salamat po sa pagclear up ng rent issues about sa point policy. I think I'm settled with looking for room sharing, nakita ko din po may topics about room sharing dito sa site mismo which is great kasi recently I've been trying sa gumtree and hindi po ata napasok messages ko kasi yung location ko is still set in the Philippines.

Ganun na nga po ang gagawin ko since hindi lang to first time migrating, it's all my first time to ride an airplane so I don't want to have any problems so it'd be best kung itatawag ko po just to be sure.

That's actually a good idea na mas makakamura po ako kung maghahanap ako ng flight from PH -> SG -> AU kaysa sa single trip from PH -> AU. I'll look more into that later, thanks po sa info!

Required po ba magpamedical before going to australia?

May nabasa din po ako na mas worth it maghanap na mas murang rent(far from the city) and just take the train/bus to work kaysa tumira po sa City mismo?

Any tips po kung saan magandang places to do so?

@Bagongluma since OZ citizen ka na, so no meds required. as for the rent, the farther you are from CBD, the cheaper the rent gets.

@prcand Kamusta po, how is Australia treating you?

Naisip ko nga po kung ig-gamble ko ang High rent ; Close to City sa Low Rent ; Far from the city pero malapit sa transpo.

Since magisa lang po ako pupunta tingin ko po it would be best kung sa Sydney muna ako to get the feel of the city and when I'm ready I'll look for a place with lower rent since balak ko po kasi talaga mag two jobs I think it would be the best decision na tumira sa Sydney mismo
