Registered Nurses from the Philippines who want to gain registration here in Australia needs to study first. They can either:

    1. Take the BRIDGING COURSE. (Requires 450 hrs of work experience within the past 5 yrs and a certain mark must be met for the English test)
Duration is only 3 months. If you can't find an employer to sponsor you, you'll have to go back to the Philippines.
    * Regardless though you can still apply for PR once you've finish your course.*

    2. Do the CONVERSION COURSE.
This may take a year or 2 depending on the uni you'll be enrolling in.

You'll need an English Test, whatever pathway you choose. If it's a voluntary work, you have to provide an evidence and AHPRA will have to assess your experience.

@moogz01 With sponsorship, I would say it would all depend on your overseas experience, how you are as a worker and how well you present yourself. There's still some who provide sponsorship especially in the regional areas but just as what I've been always telling, you should not rely nto it. Always have a back up plan. In my opinion, if you can apply for PR, it is actually better to go for it as your stay here in Au is guaranteed and it comes with a lot of benefits that you can't get with 457. :)

Hi Cassey! Thank you for the info, I am also an aspiring nurse who's interested to work in Aus. Can I personally chat with you for some info? I am planning to apply for AHPRA by myself then once approved, I will seek assistance from AECC Global for the school and visa approval.

    Hi po,

My wife is a nurse and I'm a software engineer, currently working here in Singapore. We started our applications and our plan is that I'll be the principal applicant. Questions ko po sana:

    1. Pwede po bang mag bridging program ung misis ko kahit under dependent visa?

    2. Kung mag bribridging program po xa, need pa po ba muna nya mag apply sa AHPRA para marecommend sya for BP?

@marcopolo Hi, you can PM me if you have a question or you can just ask it here in the forum. AECC Global here in Melb helped my hubby as well before with his visa.

@jouneytoaus Hi, what visa are you applying? It would depend on the conditions of the visa if she'll be allowed to study or not. If it's a PR Visa then yes she can study here definitely.
With your number 2 question, yes she needs to apply to AHPRA then they will give her a Letter of Eligibility which will allow her to do a bridging course.

thank you very much for the prompt response Ms. Cassey! :) another question, I hope you don't mind. Is it okay to submit certified true copies of old documents? I graduated 10 years ago. I have all the requirements on hand but they are issued last 2009 pa and my TOR has an annotation of "For employment purposes only". Would you know if AHPRA will honor such documents? as long as they are true copies of the original, they won't care if old document or if it has specific annotation? I need your thoughts on this. I don't want to request documents from my school and PRC anymore bec you know they are added expense. Thank you! God bless!

Hi, unfortunately I'm not sure if they will accept it. You can inquire thru this link: https://www.ahpra.gov.au/about-ahpra/contact-us/make-an-enquiry.aspx
Don't forget as well that you need to have all your documents notarized. Yes, all applicants need to undergo Fit2Work (for all the countries you've lived in for 6 consecutive mos or more since you were 18). Fit2work will give you a reference number which you will provide in your AGOS Form. You're also responsible for its payment.

@seekingforhelp Hi, sorry but I don't give out my personal number.. Have you tried estimating your points for migration? You can migrate here in Au as long as you have enough points and if you're a Registered Nurse here in Australia. Have you studied Nursing in Au? Another thing to take note is you need to get a positive skills assessment from ANMAC as well because otherwise you won't be able to lodge a PR Application.

@seekingforhelp Are you already a Registered Nurse here in Australia? In order to have a positive assessment from ANMAC, you at least need to have (in the 5yrs preceding the application date)
~a minimum of 12 months, full time equivalent, paid Australian work experience OR
~a minimum of 36 months, full time equivalent, paid International work experience.

@seekingforhelp So magstart ka pa lang ba? Kailangan mong magaral ng Nursing muna rito sa Au para makagain ka ng registration dito as a Nurse. Unfortunately, hindi siya counted as experience kasi it's not related to Nursing. You can pm me if you have any questions. :)

Hi guys, I just recently went to an agent, then and sinasabi niya sakin, ang itake ko cert of aged care and cert of individual disablity, for 2 years and 4 months. Is this ok? Or mas ok po ang Diploma of Nursing. Thanks! What's the pros and cons?

@mrsespejo Unfortunately, walang pathway to PR yung Aged Care and Disability... Masasayang lang oras mo and pera. If you have the experience, you can do bridging or conversion course.

@dolly Hi, ano ba ang purpose mo? If your purpose is to migrate here afterwards then it's best to get a conversion course if you don't have any experience. You can try to speak with either IDP or AECC free naman services nila for student visa.
