Health Form 26 Question: Have you ever been diagnosed with, or had to be treated for TB?

Guys,
My 12 year old daughter had Primary Complex when she was 3 yrs old. From what I understand, Primary Complex is similar to TB? Need advise.. For question: Have you ever been diagnosed with, or had to be treated for TB? .. do we need to answer YES for her.

yes because on x-ray primary complex will show as scarring. get an x-ray for there and ask a doctor if he can see any lung scarring.

my friend had primary complex as a child.. she did get naman a visa but she had to undergo both x-ray (as it showed as scars) , mantoux, quanterferon gold and also when she got here she got a job as a nurse in a hospital here she was asked to get a CT scan before starting work.

@li_i_ren - hi...ako may nakitang scar sa chest xray although di me nagkaTB...(i duno y meron scar eh)...ayun nareferred and meds ko...so far almost a month ng hinihintay namin un result [-O<

yung friend ko my scars din..pero she got tested if active or not bah yung tb and it tested negative naman kasi she knew it was from when she was a child hence she got a visa.

scarring can happen from lots of reason..infections like pneumonia/ smoking!!!..hehehe!

@li_i_ren - i also read na pwede ring coz of chiken pox ky may scar sa lungs...dont know how i got it..not a smoker or got pneumonia...may be sa bronchitis...wait wait wait na lang ng 2-3 months for the big result [-O< hehehe

bronchitis is a type of lung infection too;) dont worry kasi as long as non infectious ka or d naman nakakahawa ok lng naman yan .

thats the only issue if ur infectious to other people. the lungs can get scarred talaga from lots of things and unlike the liver it doesnt heal up as well.

@multitasking may daughter was also positive in Primary Complex when she was around 1yr old. Hindi sya inadvice ng pedia na magpa-xray during that time (siguro dahil baby pa sya nun) PPD skin test lang and she was given meds that she took for several months.

According to her Pedia most people in the Philippines are exposed hindi nga lang aware yung iba since not all of us had the PPD skin test and kung may TB naman usually nalalaman lang kung may symptoms na. Yan ang explanation ng pedia samin before. Like in our case, my child got her Primary Complex from her yaya nung nasa Pinas pa kami. Napansin kasi namin na hindi nawawala ang ubo ni yaya kaya pinacheckup ko, ayun may active TB pala... too late hindi muna namin sya pina-medical bago hinire as yaya tsk tsk. And then our family doctor asked me & my husband to have the PPD test & Xray to be sure. Both of us are positive sa primary complex but negative sa TB. The first time we got hired dito sa SG we undergo XRay din for TB test and wala naman naging problem, no scars or anything.

And then my sister-in-law has a history of TB way back 7yrs ago... and when she got hired here in SG her medical result was referred for further evaluation kasi may nakitang scar... that's the scar when she had TB but then she was given a clearance ng doctor since matagal naman na syang galing. Ganito din yung explanation samin ng Pedia & Family Doctor namin sa Pinas, once ba magka-TB ka and even if gumaling ka na the scar will be there forever. Same with Primary complex daw, once na nagpositive ka sa PPD skin test forever na yun... ang dilikado lang is maging active and that would be the TB na. Though hindi na kami ulit nakapagpa-PPD test after that to verify kung forever na nga ba talagang positive sa Primary Complex.

I'm just sharing po yung explanation samin ng doctor dati about primary complex... absolutely I'm not an expert on this diagnosis though.

also note keep ur ppd test... kasi once may ppd test na kayo u r not allowed to have another one kasi swelling will be really become big na and may cases na matagal mawala kasi reaction na yan sa 1st ppd test nyo.

forever na po yun positive ppd..it means carrier state po but NOT infective... hindi po nakahawa.

it is true na almost all pinoys are exposed to tb.. it just means that we are carriers na. if we get cancer and go into chemotherapy..may chance we will get active tb .. yan ang ibig sabihin ng positive
ppd test.

ang sputum test lang ang makakasabi if the tb is currently active or not.. pero usually lahat ng.pinoy positive ppd test pero negative sputum... and treated may or may not have scarring sa lungs.

pero sa case ng original poster kasi 11yrs na si anak na most likey the child will be required another x-ray. it would be good if u get a mdecial certificate that she was treated na as a child.

takot na takot ang mga puti sa tb.. hehehehe.. yan kasi if maka pasok sa country nila. nakakamatay kasi ang tb for those who are on chemo or may h.i.v or yung galing kidney/heart transplant... eh sa 1st world country marami nyan eh.

mantoux test is the proper name for the ppd test;) same lang po yan...;)

If nagkaron po ng primary complex nung bata pa, which is around 20+ years ago, YES po ba dapat ang sagot dito? And makakaaffect kaya eto sa application?
