More than 5 years back I was into stock trading in the Philippines; I never really returned into it after moving to Singapore...

i use westpac online brokerage. everything's done online, including iphone app.

no money required to open a brokerage acct but you need to open an investment savings acct with westpac para dun daan ang pera into or out of the brokerage acct. staff package ako so discounted ang fees. im not sure ano ang details for the general public.

they say e*trade is good, but have not tried it.

    Sharing info.. bka makatulong.

    - Cheapest fee is NAbTrade $14.95 kaso parang bago pa lang yata trading platform nila at saka pag mag transfer ka money online may limit. Kailangan mo tumawag over the phone kung mag trnansfer ka over their limit.

I think they have better trading platform kaso mukhang hindi user friendly yung webpage. BUT I think functionality wise ok naman.

    - etrade medyo mahal din parang commsec and fee. May etrade US at Hongkong. US at AUD or Singapore using the same etrade account.

    - Pero yung mga basic informations about the stocks are all accessible sa standard account.

    - Dito eh may notice sila narerecived kaagad pag biglang kakaibang movement yung stock for the day.

@packerx so your tito is purely trading?
I believe lesser risk if he will include in his portfolio a longterm regular investing scheme

Para pag nag gain ka in the coming years pwede mo deduct sa gains mo.

    Example:
Loss of 10k in 2011 / file mo sa 2011 tax filing na nag loss ka sa stock ng 10k
    Gain 20k in 2012

For 2012 tax filing declare mo lang na gains for tax purposes is 10k (20k gain-10k loss in previous year)

COL nga lang is upto date yung price.

I'm looking into Investing for long term sa magagandang company.
Share share tayu para may passive income in aussie

Look for banks and telco for long term and dividend play:
    - CBA / NAB / ANZ / WBC - almost 5-8% ang dividend
    - Telstra dividend yield of 5.5%

Dividend ng mga bluechip usually twice a year nag bibigay at mdalas na ontime or on the same month / sa reporting season ng company.

    ASX(australia) = PSE (pinas)

List of online brokers (katulad ng COL / BPITrade)
    - nabtrade
    - commsec
    - belldirect
    - etrade

If you buy a stock worth 1k tpos from $15 fee to buy and FROM $15 to sell
FROM $30 na yun transaction fees.

Asuming kumita ka 10% (100) when you sell your stock
    100-$30 transaction fees = meron kang $70

HWag mo gagastusin $70 mo kasi hidi pa sayo lahat yan....
Dedeclare mo pa yan as income sa tax filing at mababawasan kapa ulit depende sa tax bracket mo

Example a30% ang tax mo less mo 30% yung $70 = 49 take home mo

From feedback -- madalas down ang BPI Trade.

Stock code: WOW - Woolworths down by more than 10%

    Is it time to buy?

Annual dividend yield of 4.53% / fully frank
    - with this dividend, still beats the best online saving account interest around 3.75%
    - keep in mind dividend is not written in stone / it does change

What are your thoughts about woollies?
    - compare the foot traffic when you go to wollies and coles or other online shops?
    - is it deteriorating due to online shops ?

Down another 4% today (as of writing...) - for those with iron balls, might be worth a punt.
