OEC its a certificate that you pay tax in the government before you work in abroad. mandatory for those who have working visa abroad. registered OFW ka kung mayrun nun para kung nagkaproblema ka sa abroad sa employer mo. oec is your protection.

Any current experience here from poea? Thanks

@mahilig_project sa tanda ko may form na ibibigay ang POEA syo for your employer to sign. ganun din ako dati kasi direct hire din ako. para din yun sa protection mo as a 457 visa holder. ipaliwanag mo yun sa employer mo. kasi kung wala kang OEC hndi ka tlga makakalabas ng bansa. tiyagain mo na lang para hindi ka maabala. ganun tlga ang sistema sa atin.

Kung direct hire ka at wala kang Agent ask your employer na yung contract mo (Signed with your employer and you) sa Australia ipa-notarise sa malapit na Phil Embassy or consulate office. They can ring them for inquiry o kaya tulungan mo sila kung saan malapit na consul office use google map search. Tanungin mo agad o discuss mo agad sa employer mo na you're seeking to stay for permanent is Australia if. Para alam mo agad ang sitwasyon mo aafter two years kung sponsor ka parin ng employer mo for PR o ikaw na mismo ang mag apply independently. You have to work hard and be friendly because not everyone nabibigyan ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng employer sponsored especially nowadays. You have to do self research at magtanung kung anung next action pag nandito kana sa Australia para makakuha ng PR. By the way yung explanation ko kung paanu pagkuha ng POEA it was 7 years ago. I'm not sure kung appropriate pa rin basta inquire na lang ulit sa POEA. God bless.. cheers

Hi po.. in my case, I asked my employer to revise my contract to add the repatriation clause. I gave them the link of the standard PH employment contract for name hire (http://www.poea.gov.ph/docs/sec_various_new.pdf) and told them that PH is very particular with section 12 - which is the repatriation.. they added it in my contract without questions. Then when i handed my contract to POEA, they did not give me the conforme form, all they asked from me is a copy of my relocation package (ticket, accomodation and allowance). I just processed my early this year - Feb to be exact.

    Hope this helps. :)

Is there anyone from you who could advise me how to get an OEC for my children, actually young adults. My husband and I arrived here in Oz from another country with visa 457 last year. My children were included also as part of the agreement of my husband's employment, but their application was processed separately since they are there in the Philippines and have to finish their studies and their application was processed separately but under the same nomination. They were granted sub class visa 457 too, now the immigration needs an OEC from them. How can the POEA issue them an OEC where in fact they were just dependents and they do not have contract from their stepfather's Australian company? And my husband does not have this OEC because he is not a Filipino. It is just so frustrating how bureaucratic our system is to their own fellow countrymen. The POEA office should have an officer who could preside on this special matters. The Australian government had issued already a valid visa based on the employment of the stepfather. All dependents and family members of having visa 457 was subject to pay OEC, I know someone here who have to pay 1200 PHP for that certificate. We are being subjected at the mercy of vultures and fixers now who could be salivating for a fee.

Hi @BernaHipol. My dependents are also on 457 visa, however they are minors. But from what I know, dependents don't need to secure their own OEC. Technically, OEC can only be issued to those with valid Overseas Contract therefore not applicable to your kids, unless there's a job waiting for them already once they land here. However they need a copy of your VALID (unexpired) OEC upon leaving PH. I remembered mine being photocopied twice to be attached on each of my kids' passport information when we secured airport clearance. Are you working? if so, the easiest way for this is for you to obtain an OEC or call POEA (which may take forever :-(.... ) since this out of normal scenario.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

@aanover Thanks for the reply. I called POLO Canberra and the Labor Attache was very helpful and called the POEA Phils. to inform them about my situation. The staff n POEA said, she does not need an OEC being a dependent. I called also the immigration lawyer here and she sent us a print copy of her VEVO which shows that she is secondary only. We booked her flight and armed with this letter, she showed it with the immigration. The Supervisor immediately remembered her and how she was first offloaded by another immigration officer who refused to listen to her at the first place. She was granted an approval to exit the country and we lost 600 USD for the rebooking and for the fare difference. Thanks to the Immigration officer named FRANCO. I would really raise this issue to the Immigration Office in the Philippines,to show how incompetent they were to read and interpret the visa sub class.

@AVEngr. Agreed! May flight nako. The country's way to milk money out of OFWs.
