Maintenance meds to bring to Australia

ava26ava26 Quezon CityPosts: 6Member
Hi! I deeply apologize if a similar discussion already exists. I just couldn't find it that's why I posted this new discussion.

I would just like to ask if I can bring to Australia a 1-year supply of maintenance meds for my heart condition? If yes, what reminders should I take note of? I'll be leaving for Australia in February under the Subclass 476 visa--recognized graduate.

Really hoping for your responses! Thank you so much!

For prescription medicines, bring the prescription with you or have a letter from your doctor that outlines what you are taking and how much you are bringing with you.
Keep the original packaging for your medicines and medical devices intact so they can be easily identified.
Do not bring more than a 3 month supply with you.
Don’t forget to declare it on the passenger card.

@Cassey hi thank you for this! I’ve also read that, but was thinking if there are any chances to bring more than 3-month supply of maintenance meds. Was hoping anyone has tried it in the past. Thank you.

@ava26 Just follow the guidelines in the DHA’s websiteand the TGA. They wouldn’t put that up for nothing. The post that you’ve asked me about was a year ago so I can’t comment on it.

@Cassey I’m not sure po kasi what to do once I arrive there if I have 3-month supply only instead of 1 year.

@ava26 Once you’ve run out of your medications, you can go to a GP and let the GP know what medications you are currently taking. Or you can get a letter from the Ph doctor and just show it to the GP here in Au.
