Hi sa lahat po na nag-BM na, ask ko lang if enough na ang 7000 AUD as pocket money? Makikitira po ako sa ate ko so ang need ko nalang ang daily expenses for job hunting and emergency money.

should be good enough, ang pinakamasakit lang naman na bayarin dito is rent. Kung libre ka sa sis mo 7k should hold you off for a few mos. Cheers!

thanks a lot for your insight! :)

Good day po! For 491 visa holders, meron po sa inyo na nag-stay muna for more than a month sa city bago nagmove sa regional? Kasi yung pinsan ko po (not my spon sa visa) ay nag-offer na dun muna ako tumuloy sa kanila (SYD) while looking for jobs sa NSW regional. Salamat po sa sasagot.

Yes pwede to. I had a friend na parang 2 mos muna nag stay sa Sydney then lumipat ng regional VIC. Very timely ang lipat nya kasi as soon as she got to VIC, nagsend na ang immi asking about her current residency details - chinecheck kung nasa regional na sya. So this should be something you need to be aware of.

My case is, my 491 was granted in Oct 2020 but I only got that email asking for my residency details in July 2021. So medyo random ata ang timeframe on when they send this request of info. For me tho nasa WA na talaga ako ever since for the last 4 yrs (whole state is regional) so hindi ko to naging problema.

So all I know is ang lifestyle dito sa Perth.

Same timezone dito sa pinas and magkakaroon na ng direct flights to MNL sa March so that could be advantageous.

Something to consider - Perth is a capital city whereas Newcastle is a secondary city. I don't know what your occupation is, pero some occupations are likely to have more opportunities in a capital city rather than a regional city.

yung cousin ko and family niya, nag big move na din sa sydney pero nahirapan pa din maghanap ng housing. madami daw kasing requirements. so i think mas mahirap sya gawin offshore. alam ko need mo din talaga iinspect muna yung place bago ka magbayad. may mga nagsusuggest dito AirBnB muna pero baka pricey for a family of 4

I don't know kung may nakatry na dito sa forum pero may nakikita akong mga "relocation agents" sa isang facebook group for migrants moving to Oz. Example of these na mga nakita ko ay The Rent Fairy, Journee Agency, The Renters Agent and Claymore Thistle. So these agents help na makasecure na ng permanent place to rent/stay ang migrants before their intended move. Sila na yung nagcoconduct ng personal inspection and mag aarrange ng docs needed on behalf of their clients. Mostly ibang nationalities yung nakita kong nag avail ng mga services nito so I was also wondering kung merong Pinoy na nakatry na din mag avail ng ganitong services.

I am currently onshore with 482 (working visa).

Thank you so much po sa sasagot!

Actually airbnb talaga ang initial option but yun nga sobrang hirap nga daw ng rental even para sa mga locals dn. Meron kmi relative far north last option sana sila regional sila and work wise mejo struggle dun and ayoko maka-abala dn sana sa kanila.

Thanks for this insight! May idea po ba kayo how long it took them to secure a house/apartment? Also by requirements, did they specify what they are? I'm aware na need talaga ng physical inspection, proof of funds, referrals.

Ang naiimagine ko kasi for myself, magbubook ako ng Airbnb for temp stay ng 1-2 weeks and then during that time ako magaapartment hunting, pero dito palang sa Pinas, say mga 2 weeks before the flight, icocontact ko na yung mga agents to schedule an inspection. Do you think this is doable?

Hi guys planning for the future big move any ideas on how to secure a house or apartment for a family of 4. Considering brisbane area. Any tips on how to do it offshore i know mahirap mkahanap ng rental at the moment due to rental shortage. Hoping that by the time na mg-big move kmi better na un situation.

yung cousin ko and family niya, nag big move na din sa sydney pero nahirapan pa din maghanap ng housing. madami daw kasing requirements. so i think mas mahirap sya gawin offshore. alam ko need mo din talaga iinspect muna yung place bago ka magbayad. may mga nagsusuggest dito AirBnB muna pero baka pricey for a family of 4

How long before you can secure a place for rent? It depends sa competition.

Requirements usually proof of identity, previous tenant records (if already in Australia), proof of employment and salary.

May mga sites likes realestate, domain, etc, that list houses/apartments for sale and rent. Iyong inspection, may schedule posted sa ad and you just need to book yourself a slot.

You can also try mga fb groups for accomodation, usually apartment sharing iyong posts.

I'm not sure kung pwede ka magsched ng inspection ng walang Australian number. Nagtetext kasi sila a day before/ same day to confirm your attendance sa viewing e. Maybe others can give insights. Suggest ko rin na humanap ka ng backup na stay after mo sa BnB just to be sure.

I would suggest you start looking at the property websites as early as now so you have an idea of the types of housing available and the price range. Then monitor every few days kung may changes or new listings. Determine ahead of time what are your requirements and non-negotiables for you (i.e. need dishwasher, AC, 5-10 mins walk to bus stop or train station, etc.) and see if the current listings have them. Closer to your flight date, make a shortlist of your ideal location/suburb and average pricing, then contact the agents to book inspections. Inspections only take 10-15 minutes, so schedule as many as you can within a day (if magkakalapit lang sila), since you may have to make a decision right away if you want to apply for the property. Sometimes agents would ask during the inspection if you have an offer (like willingness to higher rent than advertised) to secure the property.

I think 2020-2021 doable ang 1-2 weeks temp housing tapos makakahanap na ng long term housing, but now it may take more time (probably because a lot of people from Sydney and Melb moved up to QLD after lockdowns ended). You have fewer properties to choose from and rents are crazy high. I think wala na ang COVID pricing ng mga properties across Australia, so it may take time to find a suitable place (Melb apartments were crazy cheap in 2020-2021, according to my friend).

Probably when searching for an AirBnb you look into the ones that are in the outer suburbs in case they're cheaper (unless you'll be on tourist mode for those 1-2 weeks and want to be right in the city to explore).

For those who are curious about the requirements for renting property, I suggest that you pick a property in realestate.com then click on the Apply button. Lalabas yung application form and a list of required documents. Hindi nyo naman kailangan ituloy yung application after viewing the form.

Some real estate agents use Tenant Options which stores your online application and documents so that these can be reused for applications to different properties. Google nyo na lang yung website.

In general, you will need to meet the 100 points test when applying for all kinds of things here. I suggest that before you move here you should already ensure you have hard and soft copies of the initial documents that you will use for this requirement. Kung hindi agad kukuha ng driver's licence dito then I suggest getting a Proof of Age card. That's a government issued card that has your name, picture, address, and birthdate. In SA, you will also need that to register your car if you don't have an SA driver's licence.

For medicare, you need to go to a medicare office yourself to apply.

As far as I know, to apply for TFN you need an Australian address, as they will snail mail your TFN details to the address you provide (no option to email you the details).
