SG, PH or Aus? Was reading forums from here saka other forums, mukang pahirapan po talaga mag hanap sa Australia..
Even though we've got state sponsored and such, parang madami tayo kalaban downunder, unlike here in SG, isang interview, pasok na.

sa experience ko ganito:
PH: i got a job immediately after graduating from school SG: i got a job 3 weeks after arriving AU: still looking for a job

yup getting job in Singapore at this point in time is quite harder than the past few years or even months because of this local priority things. Also chances of getting your pass renewal rejected or downgraded is relatively higher now

i second the emotion este motion littleboyblue. this is one of my toughest battles so far. ive worked overseas pero iba tlg dto sa au. di ganon kadali mahire agad.ive been interviewed pero di agad mahire since competitive at mga kasabayan ko mga puti.im just thankful na naiinterview ako.it's really a matter of perspectives and mindsetting at siempre ang "faith" natin.it's good to compare au with ph and sg pero yun nga iba nmn sitwasyon dto dahil sa cultural diversity.anyways good luck sa job hunting.

Andaming qualified. In my workplace, more than half puti. But more importantly, UK or aussie-trained sila. Natanggap lang ako even without those experience kasi may umalis. Also, I think my Sg experience helped (feeling ko lang). Timing and a lot of luck.
Nakakakaba at minsan, sobrang daunting. But trudge on comrades! Go lang ng go tayo.

Grabe pala sa Australia, being in the IT industry, bka kailangan na mag upgrade and get the latest certifications. Yun ang napansin ko ksi I am involved in hiring and interview process dito sa SG. Pero to be honest, mas impressed ako sa mga pinoy, ksi even though kula tayo a sa cert ksi ang mahal mahal, we have the hacker mentality. meaning we try to find ways... unlike yung mga anaps puro cert nga wla nman sa gawa hehe.. not being racist here po. balita ko nabibili nila yung certs sa india parang may mga fixers.
hmm... kailangan talala upgrade... by the way, hmm mas intimidate pa ako sa magaling na chinese national in terms of job hunting dito sa SG, rather than anaps.
@Nadine, are you still in AU? ksi reading your reply, seems like past tense sila hehehe

Hi beth! Yup, buhay pa rin. Hehe. I'm almost on my 3rd month at work. Up for evaluation na ako, ugh! And exams. Hay buhay.
Yung exams namin are equivalent to your certifications, I think. Ganun yata talaga dito.

Sa line of work ko - Surveyor - ANZSCO 232212 - mas mahirap makakuha ng work sa AU kesa sa SG. though, overwhelmingly mas madami job openings sa AU.
based sa experiences ng mga nauna sa akin (AU and SG). mas open at mas madali mag-apply sa SG. both countries maraming naman opportunities - may mga offers pa din ako sa SG. pero sa AU need mo pa rin ang 189 visa. madalang kasi ang 457 sponsorship, as I have learned.
Sa PH, madali lang din. kasi niche course ang BSGeodeticEng'g sa atin, and of the few schools that offer it. konti lang na grads ang nag-papraktis.

one of the reason kng bakit most of the filipinos skilled migrant here in OZ have the hard time of finding a job maybe because, ang tataas ng standards nyo?or taas ng presyo nyo? or overqualified sa kinakailangan ng company.. Tama ba??

Ah make sense. Migration is a leap of faith talaga. If ever matuloy ako australia im looking on moving to perth, melbourne or sydney. Pero most likely kung saan tlga makakuha ng work. Tyaga lng makakuha ka din ng work. Try m kaya cold calling ba tawag dun.

.
One comment mentions na halata naman sa mga typo sa CVs nila Yung incompetence at kasinungalingan no matter how much they try to cover it with certs. And I experienced it first hand kung anong klaseng work ethic meron sila.
Anyway, enough with the pana bashing. Dali nilang magpalipatlipat ng work after getting local experience.

well guys to be honest, we came here sa SG back in 1988, 4 years old pala ako nun. Due to papa's job ksi electronics engineering sha, medyo boom back then yung industry na yun sa SG. Yung time na yun I was surprise lahat ng pinoy na nakita mo, sa lift, sa mrt, khit saan magiging tropa mo regardless of occupation, khit maid or nurse, friend mo agad. tapos mag kikita ulit kayo, picnic and stuff like that... pero ngayon sa SG, wla ng pansinan.. ka bad trip nga eh.. dami ng 'social' na pinoy dito... unlike before kya yun.
hehe....

masayado nang mainet sa mga foreigners hehe and SG is not a place to raise a family. work-life imbalance to the max. singaporean nga gustong layasan singapore eh. And career growth is another concern. For my line of work, napakahirap na maging registered dito sa Sg. Pero sa Au, a few years time at tiyaga, you can be licensed already.

@vhoythoy ay ganyan na ba sa SG? Baka mga snob lang hehe.
What my former expat boss said to me was kung kaya raw makahanap ng trabaho sa SG, go for it, kasi malaking bagay siya sa resume mo kahit saglit ka lang dun.

Yup at least based on my observation, unless sobrang friendly yung pinoy ma meet mo pero konti lng yan.
Yup. challenging work, exposure, competition, reputation, technology, net savings, night life, gadgets, shopping, proximity sa pinas, etc hands down singapore.
The only reason for me considering Oz is because of family, work life balance and because of recent na paghihigpit sa foreigners.

hmm... kailangan talala upgrade...
by the way, hmm mas intimidate pa ako sa magaling na chinese national in terms of job hunting dito sa SG, rather than anaps.

Yung exams namin are equivalent to your certifications, I think. Ganun yata talaga dito.

Yung time na yun I was surprise lahat ng pinoy na nakita mo, sa lift, sa mrt, khit saan magiging tropa mo regardless of occupation, khit maid or nurse, friend mo agad. tapos mag kikita ulit kayo, picnic and stuff like that... pero ngayon sa SG, wla ng pansinan.. ka bad trip nga eh.. dami ng 'social' na pinoy dito... unlike before kya yun.
hehe....

What my former expat boss said to me was kung kaya raw makahanap ng trabaho sa SG, go for it, kasi malaking bagay siya sa resume mo kahit saglit ka lang dun.

Yup. challenging work, exposure, competition, reputation, technology, net savings, night life, gadgets, shopping, proximity sa pinas, etc hands down singapore.
The only reason for me considering Oz is because of family, work life balance and because of recent na paghihigpit sa foreigners.
