  • Hello! I hope someone can answer my dilemma.

My partner and I (same sex) are planning to study in Au this Feb 2020. We have these options:
    1. Both will get a student visa, and then get married
    2. One will get a student visa, and the other will apply for a de facto visa
    3. One student visa, and the other tourist visa, get married, and apply for a de facto

    • How long would a de facto partner visa usually take?
    • Is it better if we process everything in Australia?
    • What are your suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your insights!

      Hi @Acaotant!
If one gets a student visa, the other one can be the dependent given that the de facto clause (lived in one address for at least a year) is followed.

Send me a PM if you have more questions since I had the same experience. Cheers!
