You have to ask yourself:

(1) Lalabas ba sa Singapore? If lalabas, definitely I don't think makapasok sya sa Singapore with an expiring passport...

(2) Assuing di maging problema ang #1 how about: paglabas nya sa Manila, paano ngayon? Definitely hindi sya makalabas nito with an expiring passport more so hindi sya makakapasok sa Australia.

Just get the passport renewal sorted asap... This is a very big problem to be honest! 🙂

Before nakalabas ako ng Singapore going to australia na pa 4mths na lang validity ng passport ko, sa SG side no questions ask. Sa Australia side pagpasok, same no questions ask.

Nung palabas na ako ng Australia, dun ako na question nung IO. He asked me why am i travelling with an expired passport, I responded it is not yet expired. Then he replied as per the policy it should be 6mths valid and he said that I will not be allowed to enter Singapore eventhough he will let me pass Australia, I said I am working in Singapore. Good thing dala ko yung working pass ko, ayun pinalusot nya ako.

Case to case po, if it's to risky then opt for the safe excuse.....renew your passport ;-)

@legato09 - it's because your going back to your country of residence (SG) at that time, kaya walang problem... hindi ka nmn i-hohold kung mapakita mo na ang destination mo eh valid residence ka.. this happened to me also.. nung pinakita namin na resident kmi kung saan kmi pupunta, wala ng tanong..

in @Allysond 's case - pwede din nmn, kasi uuwi sya sa Pinas (Filipino Citizen nmn sya), at pagbalik eh going to AU (walang problem kung may valid visa pa sya going to AU), in both countries, pwede sya mag-stay at mag-renew pag-expired na ang passport nya..

the only problem is yung paglabas mo sa SG..hindi ka resident dun, mahigpit sila pagdating sa visa expiration..
ang tagal pa ng december, gano daw po ba katagal ang processing ng passport?

Add ko lng...my sister is a flight attendant. One time naka witness sya... An indian national stop over in h.k. And frim h.k connecting flight to somewhere in china but not same carrier plane. Expiring a yung passport.. D pinalusot ng h.k. Immigration pina turn around back to india. This is at his expense. So meaning he needs to buy tickets going back to india plus he has lost the flight fom h.k to china.

Renew in sydney 4-5 weeks.. Find a cheap flight. Tiget airways or jetstar for 60-70 per way. Do it all together in 1day anyway 9-1pm lng passport renewal sa embassy. Dont stay overnight na in sydney.

thanks sa mga advise. siguro nga case to case basis, plan nya dito magrenew ng license since more than a month yung vacation nya, i'll get him an appointment sa dfa na maaga para di kame makulang sa oras.

icheck ko p din yung option na mgrenew nya ng passport nya, salamat po ulit sa lahat.

Ask ko lang po. Ang expiry ng passport namin family (2 adults and 2 kids) eh sa June 2015 anyway, malayo pa po yun pero my husband are going to have his skills assessment end of April dis 2014. I know we will have the passport number send to assessing body as one of the requirements. Si hubby po ay August ang birthday, he will turn 45y/o next yir. Hopefully mahabol nmin yung migration before he turned 45 dahil sa points n pwede namin makuha. Bka po before passports expiry mag renew kmi mababago yung passport number sa application of visa, sa medical, etc. in case ma visa grant kmi. Pwede ba kaming kumuha ahead of expiry? say before visa application.

Renewing your passports ahead of expiration is not a problem...
