i am retaining my cc here in sg.. i already earned my very good credit history and very good credit standing.. i will use this for house downpayment in aussie.. simply because of very low and almost negligible interest rates..

@gmad06 - kami naman, we terminated our CC's in Singapore as we no longer have any use for it. kung gagamitin man namin there will be FX conversion fees added to our purchases and most importantly mahihirapan kami bayaran ito as we no longer have any existing assets in Singapore to fund these payments.

@TasBurrfoot, yes, I believe it's more practical to cut CC in a country na wala ka na namang frequent/regular transactions para hindi sayang ang perang pinaghihirapan. 🙂

@pmzinoz and @TasBurrfoot..so i think walang magiging problema if i decided to continue my CC. how about terminating it? dapat bang maclear lahat na balance?meron bang any arrangements u guys cn suggest?

retaining or terminating your cc in SG or even from other countries is case to case basis..

my primary reason for retaining it is for security, what i mean is upon moving in sa aussie and kapag anything happens like emergency - alam kong meron akong puedeng magamit na cc just in case wala akong cash but take note that i will just SG CC sa aussie as a last resort and I prefer to use AU CC if possible.

secondly, like what i've said earlier, i am using my SG CC to pay for the downpayment of house in aussie.. we are planning to purchase a house asap once we move-in, reason behind is we don't want to pay rent. "For me" The longer we are renting the more money we are wasting since we planned to stay in aussie for good/long term.

I will close SG CC naman eventually but not now, siguro in 5 or more years pa once ma utilized ko sya ng maigi and besides naka lifetime waived naman ang annual fee and its just one call away to close the cards. So get the toll free number of your bank/cc company.

It should be zero balance before you terminate it.

i have been using my sg cc eversince to pump up my transportation business sa pinas and other liquid investments, i am taking out balance transfer or equivalent to cash loan but using cc, for all my banks/cc and they notice na good payer ako until such time that they increased my credit limit up to x times the original. After that they offered me more cash loans up to 95% of my credit limit.

They are also waiving the interest fee for 1 year just for me take out loan and giving me up to 10 years loan repayment. Kaya naisip ko na puede kong gamitin ito for at least 20% downpayment sa aussie if hindi ako makakuha ng loan sa aussie local banks or if long term mas makakatipid ako sa ganitong diskarte.

I won't do any money transfer from au to sg since i have still a monthly passive income in sg to take care of the loan.

question re CC naman po. Misis ko kasi plan to cut hers before we leave and apply in Aus na lang since if we use her CC in Australia, mahal pa to convert into Peso pagdating sa billing. The bank would know naman re our good credit standing based on their background investigation right? Your inputs please. Thanks!

@pmzinoz ok yung idea na bumili agad ng house instead of renting for x years, sayang nga, instead na sa sarili mo ng bahay napupunta yung rental fee sa permanent house mo nalang. Anu bang requirements when having a house loan in Oz? I want to consider this in the future.

i dont see any issue kung ireretain mo yung cc mo from A country if you are already residing in B country, as long as you have the means to pay for your dues, should be ok.

Sounds good in paper...

Ang tanong nalang ngayon is how much are you going to take our as loan in your credit card; a downpayment can be between at least 5% of your house value and assuming your house you want to buy is valued at $500K, you are talking $25K already plus stamps and duties which can be roughly in the same amount pa din...

Apart from that, unless you have cold cash, you still need to take out a loan for the remaining 95% or $450K...

But it is good to know you have a good deal in your credit card... 🙂

hello, may tanong ako sa mga naka book na nang tickets na with infants. when you booked your tickets did you include the infant? we tried to book a ticket in SIA but we noticed that the fare for infant is the same with the adults, so i called SIA and asked about it, the customer service person told me to just book a ticket for 2 adults, then after booking I'll just call them to inform of my baby's details and to request for a bassinet. Ganon din ba ginawa nyo? So walang charge ang baby then?

booked ours with emirates..may infant naman na selection included....although wala nga akong binyaran for our baby,sounds odd kung pwede ganun nlng kadali i-include yung baby magtravel..i suggest u to get another opinion from other officers of that airline

yeah, we'll email SIA na din para naman may proof na the information came from them incase magka problema man kami sa booking ni baby. thanks @gmad06 🙂

Hi Everyone! We are 3 days out into our flight to Sydney. Everything just zoomed in front of our eyes. Suddenly, eto na. Aalis na kami.

We are practically ready to go. Although, we were forced to purchase an extra 35 kgs for baggage. Sakit sa bulsa, pikit matang binayaran ang halos 900 AUD for excess baggage. hahaha.

Our local affairs are all pretty much settled. Next major step is to see whether mag materialize na yung job offer namin from our most recent company in Sydney.

Kapag malapit na, mas nakakakaba at nakakalungkot. We are leaving family and friends behind. Most of all, we will be leaving our beloved pet dog who we can only hope na maalagaan ng mabuti ng parents ko para mabalikan pa namin in a year or two.

But everything else is a blessing. Hopefully, good fortune ay magtuloy tuloy na.

Ako naman medyo busy with knowledge transfers, meetings, and tasks to finish before leaving.

Mar 31 - Last day of work as a regular employee of the company will be Mar 31. Apr 1 - I'll start working as their parttime employee (homebase, 20 hrs/wk).

Apr 3 - Im gonna see my baby again, going home to Cebu (and very excited about it). Apr 22 - Flight from Cebu to Sydney

By the way, SIA already reply to my enquiry about the infant seat and confirmed that we can just book tickets for to adults and then update them of the baby's details.

Sir, lester here. kaka-reciv ko lang ng visa grant notice ko last january as dependent ng partner ko. he is the primary 457 visa applicant and he is working na sa melbourne. mine too was also a 457 visa dependent type. ask ko lang sana sa may info kung ano pa need ko para hnd maharang sa immigration sa airport... mejo kinakabahan kasi ako baka maharang pa. all i have are the visa grant notice and passport. last time nagpunta ako ng philippine immigration, unfortunately nalungkot lang ako kasi hnd nila alam ang case ko. they gave me the number of immigration sa NAIA, pero many times ko tinawagan nagriring lang...🙁 nagpunta din ako sa CFO and nag-inquire kung need ko pa magPDOS. They told me na no need na daw dhl sa type ng visa ko. tinanong ko din sila dun kung need ko din bang magpunta ng POEA, sabi nila hindi na daw. pero until now hnd p tlga ako panatag kung wla ng magiging problem sa immigration.
