Long post. ๐
Dun sa mga nagwe wait ng visa grant and planning to BM soon afterwards, try to improve and activate your linkedin and maximise your professional presence in the target industry and city for the mean time. Sobrang helpful po. Promise!
In this way, tataas yung visibilty nyo. So when people try to search for ganitong role in the city of (your chosen locality), kayo agad yung mag-appear.
Share ko lang yung naging experience ko. After I received the grant last Mar 16 nag start na ako ayusin Linkedin Profile ko. Sabi nga try to reach full stars and 1000+ connections. Important thing is to connect to as many people within your target industry/profession and target city either actively (with personal message) or passively (no message). In my case passive lang ako, mindset ko is add lang ng add and kung ireject man di naman nila ako kilala and no pressure since malayo pa BM. Once mag BM tsaka ko sila i-PM. (PM is the key strategy. Hehe)
While adding, I see to it na okay yung profile summary and naka indicate dun na may PR Visa ako and will move to this city on this date. Meron din ako sample works (photos) below the profile for them to see.
Concurrently, inupdate ko din CV ko in AU format. I have put the helpful links sa baba ng post. I omit the general job description and use key achievements instead. Yung JD ko nilaro ko words to make it sound as an achievement and not just a day-to-day task that anyone can perform. I see to it na max 3 bullet points lang para nga mabilis mag-edit (and mag tailor fit) and apply once I move na permanently.
Ginamit ko din yung free trial nun premium which I found sobrang worth it especially yung Linkedin Learning na may downloadable offline courses na related sa field ko na drafting and building information modelling. In fact, na apply ko pa yun mga natutunan ko dun sa last work ko dito sa SG. Before 1 month I cancelled na para di mag-bill haha. ๐
Eventually may mga nagpi PM na both recruiters and MDs. Sinasabi ko na ganito pa ako mag BM so by that time, i-Pm ko sila if may Vacancy pa rin.
Fast forward to May 18, may nag pm na recruiter (yan yung nai-post ko above). Reluctant ako to take the role since baka urgent and โIndustrial Engineerโ yung hanap. After ilang weeks, nag message ulit siya, hiningi niya CV ko which I have updated to AU Format na during free time (Buti na lang haha). Then nag send din ako sample works (sinend niya ata to MD). Yung exchange of linkedin message happened in a span of 2 weeks.
To my surprise inisched niya ako sa interview (a couple of days ago) which is a viber video call (her name is Steph btw). Sobrang light and smooth nun interview. 30 mins ata kami magkausap. That night nag message siya na impressed daw yung Managing Director sa CV ko and very keen daw to video chat tomorrow (akala mo friends haha).
Yesterday, nag kausap na kami ni MD which is more of diniscuss niya lang yung business, role, career progression, etc. Wala siya masyado questions about sakin as compared to the recruiter interview. Inisip ko baka nai-build up na ako ni Steph
Earlier nag email ako kay MD ng sample works.
Around lunch, I received the job offer from Steph and theyโre asking me to submit next week my passport, visa, character reference, qualifications, etc. for us to move forward.
The role is permanent (with career progression) + super and yung rate is more than what I expect.
The bonus part is willing sila tulungan ako mag arrange ng place to stay since yung business is 16 km from CBD or 36 km from the place na dapat pag stayhan ko sa sana sa Melb. Calyton/Notting Hill to be exact.
Grabe. Hanggang ngayon. Lutang na lutang ako. Finally Graduate na ako!!!
Eto po yung timeline:

May 29 - Recruiter interview
May 30 - MD interview
