@gmad06 Yup, truly a blessing. Chance + preparedness. π Also, despite advice of friends to be prepared to work a level below what he used to, he was offered a senior level job. Headhunter was very excited to meet him, and said she had to edit his resume, kasi pang CTO. And he wouldn't want employers to think he's overqualified for the job. Headhunter also told us that when she saw his resume, she knew she would not have a problem placing him.

And yes, I'm a very proud wife. π

Anyway, dito pala, you wouldn't want to seem overqualified for a job, kasi they will not hire you din. Maybe that's why also all receptionist applications I sent were declined.

No, he did not send any application from the Philippines so I do not know what are the chances of that. Can't hurt to try.

Right now, malayo layo kami sa CBD, pero ok din mag commute. Tram lang. Mid-March, we are moving to North Melbourne, very near CBD.
Yun nga din naiisip ko eh. So pwede ako if ever mag-store to store and ask? Another option is to volunteer. Pero pag nakalipat na siguro kami, and maybe volunteer but not everyday para maka-raket din ako ng odd jobs para rin me sarili na akong pera. Importante pa din yan kahit may work na husband ko. π
Wag kayo mahinaan ng loob. Before coming here, I was very anxious because:
1) konti lang funds namin na dala,

2) medyo pangit nga daw ang job market, based on forum posts here, and experience din ng mga kakilala namin na ilang buwan bago nagka work.

If naniwala kami and hindi tumuloy, e di sayang naman. My husband wasn't anxious though. He said he knew he would get a job, he just did not expect it would be that fast.

Learn all you can. Read all you can. Practice, practice, practice. Work hard and prepare your butt off. π Australia may not have the most ideal job market nowadays, but basing on my husband's experience, I can say for sure they recognize talent when they see it. Goodluck! π
