What to do between date of visa grant and date of entry?

Folks,

My visa and my gf's have just been granted. We are planning to move to Melbourne on March next year.

I am now applying for a job while still in the Philippines.

What did you guys do between your date of visa grant and date of entry?

Job search? Preparations? Or nag enjoy enjoy? Nag-aral mag drive? Share naman. Thanks! 🙂

We spent time with our loved ones, nagbakasyon, learn how to cook, renew our licenses, empake, etc...

We tried to apply but we gave up after 2 wks as they always say, call us when you arrive... 🙂 Nonetheless, we also tried to sharpen our resume and prepare several versions of it along with our cover letter.

Move ako sa Melbourne ng November... last working day ko sa office October... 3 weeks ako magbabackpack dito sa Thailand more likely eenjoy ko ang buhay sa isla... parelax relax 😃

wow, buti pa sila, patravel travel nalang...ako early next year ko plano...and sa preparation, ipon ipon ng pera (kahit wala namang source ng ipon na)...buy clothes for interview, for winter, for casual...doing research sa place na pupuntahan ko like train, buses, phones, rentals....plus, hanap ng mapaglalaruan ng table tennis since soloista ako and mabubuhay na ako kahit may sports center around or near me to keep me company kung sobrang lungkot at bored na ako...heheh

mag impake,visit sa mga kaibigan,relatives at always seek the guidance of the lord,magresearch sa mga pupuntahang lugar dito sa australia,bumili ng mga books para pag walang magawa sa australia may roong pagkakalibangan basahin, GIVE MORE TIME TO FAMILY(parents and brothers and sisters) and tumulong sa mga binaha....ang aply online...

Sir @TasBurrfoot, anong licenses ang nirenew mo? I understand yung non-pro drivers license pwedeng gamitin. Yun bang PRC recognized sa Oz? Thanks!

i recall my experience. everything and everytime was a rush. before the CO granted the visa, she emailed me to ask if we can do our initial entry in 3 weeks. madami kaseng delay ang application ko kaya inabot halos ng expiry ng medicals. yung pang 3rd week was the expiry and the CO was worried we cannot land which means the visa will be cancelled. the option was entry in 3 weeks or redo the medicals. sympre sabi ko we can land in 3 weeks. so rush lahat ng prep. and then we we were going to make our big move, rush na naman. because i got a job offer and was asked if i can be in sydney in 2 weeks. mas matinding stress yun because our house will need to be sold so we had to pack not only for the move pero to move out our stuff para linis ang bahay ready for prospective buyers. in those last 2 weeks, we had to do the packing, visiting relatives to say goodbye, yun mga pangako kong visita iglesia, then arranging my 8 balikbayan boxes for shipping to sydney, pagkuha ng mga documents from school of the kids, getting my medical history from my doctors, attending despedida from family and friends at lahat lahat na. kalokah!

i used intelogistics. meron silang partner dito sa oz. bale, i packed my 8 boxes, pinapick up ko sa kanila the day before our flight. inistock nila sa warehouse nila since makikituloy lang kame sa friend ko. after 3 weeks, nun makasign ako ng lease agreement, i gave instructions to load the boxes. in less about 2 weeks dumating na dito. door to door bale. yun 8 boxes irregardless ang weight. I paid them USD300 (3 years ago) and then when the cargo arrived Australia, yung partner na nila dito ang kausap ko, and i paid them separately para ilabas sa customs and then delivered here. NSW kame......wala pa yan. sa old forum alam nila ang butas ng karayom na dinaanan ng application ko. i had a migration agent sa pinas, di MARA registered. balak niya akong lokohin pero dahil madami akong natutunan sa forum, di nya ako malusutan. pero nagrefuse ang application ko, di niya sinabi. dahil recession bumagal ang processing yun ang ginamit niyang dahilan. 9 months after refusal, nalaman ko. kung pano ako nagkavisa, eto pag me time kayo, you can read the miracle story of my visa here :

they were referred to me by a friend na napaalis naman ng agent, and madami din naman silang napaalis actually. nagkabulilyaso lang sila later on. i also created a blog to warn people about her. i reckon she is still in hiding dahil me nagpost pa last Feb 2013 :

AUD1,187 including GST. door to door na yan. Bale 1 cu meter = 400kgs ang 8 balikbayan boxes
