@emboll33, my experience and people i came in contact with are tradies, means, mga A grade, fitters and technician. Most engineers are in different world, means they deal mostly on design, materials and office/computer works, planning stage or commissioning stage. With your experience, education and category in coming here, I have no doubt you are highly recommended if you like to work as a tradies. But here is the catch, ang ruling body here in victoria to engage in practice of electrical trade is energy safe victoria and they have a pathway for an electrician overseas to become electrician, electrical fitter, A,D,L grade. What i can advice is to write them an email explaining your education, credentials, experience attached this documents and make a request that you want to work as electrical fitter and would like to apply an L grade license. see also esv.gov.au for more detailed info on this matter.
