thankful that I have found this kind of forum.. sobrang informative and inspiring lalo na when I go through their journey and timelime of their success. I was also assessed by AIMS July 2012 when I arrived in Australia on a student visa and invited to sit for the exam. I was not that confident to sit for the exam kasi wala ako review due to school and work. Im currently here sa Philippines and hoping to take the exam by March 2015.

@MSS medical laboratory technician ang open last july so un ung inapplyan ko. Ung medical lab scientist ksi ndi pa tau pasok dun as assessed by aims, med lab technician plng ang qualified saten. I grab the opportunity na kahit ndi pa take ng exam ksi nga ung baby ko nsa pinas. So it's up to u tlg kung ok lng sau hintayin nlng result ng exam then pg nkapasa apply as medlab scientist. Though ung med lab technician may certain state lng open at mabilis maubos ung quota ska under state sponsorhip sya, meaning isponsor ka ng certain state, for our case sa south australia kmi then kapalit nun, need to stay for 2yrs dun then after that khit saan k na pede mgpunta.

I have a colleague nagsabi na may mga pinoy na ndi nmn na ngtake ng exam but was hired as med tech pa din. Sbi ng friend nya na nagwowork na as medtech, kung aspire ko for higher position siguro need ka mgexam tlg.but for a mom like me, gs2 ko lng ng work that can help my husband financially at the same time naalagaan ko ung baby ko. Trabaho na ng mga daddies yan mghanap ng marming pera hehe...

Miss @bhelle_mt02 usually anong months ngbubukas ang State Nomination sa South Australia? Nagtingin ako ngaun.. ang MLT under Special Conditions na.. may separate thread po na na for State Nomination for Med Techs?

@raspberry0707 sa case ko last yr 2013 ng oct send ung state sponsorhip nmen SA kaso hindi na umabot sa quota. Sabi ng agency, some state open ng dec, some by march, unfortunately wlang nagopen for MLT sa khit anong state so naghintay n nmn kmi ng another fiscal year nitong july 2014, fresh quota for skilled prof ng MLT, hintay p sana nmen ang NSW kya lng takot uli na maubusan n nmn kmi kya grab na ung sa SA hehe.. may obligation lng to stay for 2yrs kpg state sponsorhip pro ang goodside nmn is, almost 99% naaprove ung PR visa kpg state sponsored nominee ka.

Newbie here. Planning to go Australia din kung papalarin. Start pa lang ng journey, taking IELTS in December. Sana makakuha ng overall 7 (feeling lang).

Thank you sa lahat ng mga nag-post dito. Buti na lang me ganitong forum, napaka informative. Question lang po, gaano ba katagal yung initial assessment ng AIMS tapos yung invitation to sit in the exam gaano katagal din. Iniisip ko kasi mag take sa March yun naman eh kung aabot. Iniisip kolang kasi kung Sept pa siguradong tatamarin.

TIA! At sana lumabas na yung results nung nag-take last September. Good luck sa lahat1

I'm also new here sa forum na ito! Also a RMT sa Philippines, planning to apply for Subclass 189 by next year. I applied sa AIMS initial assessment this October lang. They said na the interim for the initial assessment is 6-8 weeks, then if positive assessment mo as Medical Lab Technician, they will have also sent you an application to take the professional exam, either on March or September. The deadline for the submission for this professional examination is for the March examination is every 20th of December and for the September exam is every 20th of June if I am not mistaken.

I suggest submit ka na requirements before October ends sa initial assessment, if ever makahabol ka sa December 20th application for the March 2015 exam.

I think for 2 consecutive years, every July nagiging high availability yung MLT sa SA. Then after less than a week low then special conditions. They have set a lesser quota now, than it was when first got in 2011. January sometimes they open it for low availability.

Hi. I'm a new in this forum. I just want to ask the opinion of medtechs here kung kaya bang ipasa ng Doctor of Medicine ang AIMS assessment for Medical Lab Scientist kahit hindi naman ako medtech.... I am here in Australia working part time as pathology aide, AIMS assessed me already as Lab tech and invited me to sit for the Professional Exam of Med Scientist... I am wondering kung kaya ko bang aralin yang mga pang medtech considering konti lang ang subjects ko na related sa medtech nun nasa medicine pa... Ano po ang sa-suggest nyong reading material?

Student pa lang kasi ako dto kasi hindi pa ako makahanap ng work as Dr and kapag mayroon ng general registration as Dr dto saka lang pede mag apply ng PR. Kaya sana itong lab scientist na lng ang pathway ko. Pede sana ako sa SS ng SA last September as Lab Tech pero para hindi pla pede kasi may condition na pag entirely ang work experience ay from Australia (mine is Sydney), dapat atleast 3 months ay sa SA...

Any thoughts po sa mga med tech dto will be appreciated...

Hello Doc! Currently I am reviewing for the professional exam din sana by March 2015. I am currently reading the following:

A Concise Review of Clinical Laboratory Science by Joel Hubbard
Henry's Clinical Diagnosis and Management by Laboratory Methods
Med Tech Books and Reviewers from the local MT Board Exam
Success in Clinical Lab Science by Ciulla (Q&A format)

I can see na you can do well naman siguro sa exam, based on the study guide from AIMS, short amswer questions kasi siya, mainly kasi disease correlation with laboratory results ang questions sa exam plus practical laboratory work ups like you also need to focus on troubleshooting on machines with regards sa quality control, quality assurance and lab math and management. I am basing this information sa sample questions found on their website.

Update mo kami dito Doc sa progress mo diyan.

Im feeling a bit hesitant to take the test pero parang wala ng choice...

Hay... Ang dami namang aaralin, meron bang 'medtech made easy' books , you know young basics lng muna or somehow introduction lng... Of the 4 books that u mentioned, which do you recommend for me to read first?

Ng-aaral pa din kasi ako ng Clinical Exam ko para din makaforward na sa medical career ko..

Ok update kita if I take the test...

Hi Doc! Of the 4 books I mentioned, I think it will be of much use sayo yung: A Concise Review of Clinical Laboratory Science by Joel Hubbard. Its an easy to read format, only the basics and the needed information are emphasized by the author. It covers all the subjects required by the study guide from AIMS I suppose.

Hi Renier, all your response had been helpful. Il will try to get a hold of that book asap and start my reading. Do you have a compilation of past exams aside from the one listed sa AIMS website.. If you can generously pass that one to me too..

Pag sa Sydney ka napadpad try to contact me again if maybe i can help you work for my company too kahit start lng... Not with my department but yung Microbiology department Filipina ang supervisor, try lang natin sya lapitan..
