Hi @icebreaker1928: Sagutin ko ha? Yung private health insurance ko is AusHealth (IMAN Australian Health). Eto kasi ginamit ng mga nauna sakin sa Oz at mga yung andun na. Ginaya ko lang din. It's $76/month basic cover. May website to, if you want to check it out. Kasi baka iba needs niyo. Ako kasi, wala ako dependents, mag-isa lang ako. 🙂

Things to do First

Below is a list of 5 important things that you should do as soon as possible after arriving in Australia for "457 visa only".

1. Apply for a Tax File Number (TFN)

Do this first. To receive an income in Australia, you need a Tax File Number (TFN).

2. Open a bank account

In Australia, most income including salary or wages and government benefits are paid directly into a bank account.

3. Enroll Your Children in School (if you have children)

Under Australian law, children must attend school until they are 15 years old.

4. Apply for a Driver's Licence

5. Ask your employer on how to apply for membership of Long Service Leave Authority

I think each state may long service leave department. Paki search nyo na lang sa google kung saan state kayo kung mayroon. ito ang explanation:

What is Long Service Leave?

Long service leave is additional leave given to the employee who has worked in the same industry for 10 or more years.

Is Long Service Leave the same as superannuation?

There is no connection between Long Service Leave Scheme and the C+BUS Scheme, nor with Industry Redundance Schemes.

How does the Scheme Work?

The employer will record the service and wages for each employee and remit the Long Service Leave Levy to the Authority. When an employee has accumulated an entitlement they may make a claim and the Authority, each scheme has its own eligibility criteria please refer to the Industry you are registered under.

Basta same industry kahit different company puede. Kung lilipat ka naman ng ibang state puede i transfer dun pero dipende pa rin sa sistema nung lilipatan mo na state. Kung lilipat ka naman from private to government iba naman yun puede mo na kunin ang long service leave mo.

so i can confirm that the same rule applies to QLD..

Hi ang 457 visa is also a working temporarily visa. Kaya puede mo i clarify yun kung pumunta ka sa office kung saan nag aasikaso ng license. Staka bakit aantayin mo pa na for 4 years hindi ka magpapaluit ng driver license. Importante ang local driver license kasi magagamit mo yang for transaction as identification card kaysa lagi mo dala ang passport mo at driver license galing sa pinas.

Teka lang po ha, may nababasa lang ako sa link na bigay niyo. Just so I'm clear....

It states: "authority to drive on foreign lic will be withdrawn if:

medically unfit
become a citizen
become a resident and have been x 3 months.

Resident visa are those that have permanent visas and are allowed to stay indefintely. Other visas - temporary, business, guardian are not resident visa."

Hmmm... I wont be going as permanent resident and therefore I MIGHT just be able to use my license. THAT IS, kung tama po pagkakaintindi ko. Correct me if I'm wrong po. Hindi naman din sinabi for how long I can use the international lic. 🙁.

Ay, sinulat pala nila. For as long as it's valid in the country of issue.

I doubt it will take me 4 years para makaKuha ng Au lic. Baka in the first year. Pero masyado kasi short ang 3 months palugit Sir. In the first 3 months, ang concern ko lang nyan malamang ay hindi mawala sa loob ng hospital at lamunin ng rotation! Kaya one less worry talaga if I can extend the life of the Ph lic.
