Ok po ba yung review sa Niner? I inquired Kasi before but it seems their offer is mock exams, more of a familiarization with the exam format and some tips which you can already get from the web. I would advise for those taking the exam, identify your weak point(s) and pay for a review that will focus on that. Meron po sa web nag-offer ng speaking review via Skype and writing. They give their feedback so you know the areas you can improve on. I haven't tried this kasi late ko na nalaman but I think it's more worth the money.

just finished my speaking exam... i was interviewed by a Filipino... and i think mataas ang standards nla... grrrrrrrrrrrr... d ko alam... i was confident during the first part... not so much on the 2nd... i had to tell a story about a book or movie that I've watched that talks about the future... kaloka... i dnt like those kind of movies... so i could not think of anything... i had to go back to a movie i watched so many years ago... hayyyyyyyyyyy... honestly... i dnt know.... i'm in panic mode yet again...

Ang hirap naman niyang story about a book or movie that I've watched that talks about the future. dati ang tanong lang nila is yung movie or book that you watched/read recently.

kung sa akin tinanong yan baka namental block ako. Star Wars na lang siguro, pero wala naman akong masyadong maikukuwento kasi di ako fan nung movie na yun. lol. nganga ang aabutin ko.

nung speaking exam ko last year, ang tanong: "Tell me about a recent problem that you had recently and how did you manage to overcome it?"

Anyway, sa mga taga Pampanga/Tarlac dyan, recommended ko na IELTS review Center ang World English Reviews. dun ako nagreview last year for 25 days, and I garnered pretty good exam scores. meron silang instructor na Australian na medyo matanda na pero matalas pa rin. at magagaling ang mga ibang instructor nila from reputable schools. hindi boring, at very approachable. Last December may 50% off sila sa review Xmas promo (3000 na lang), di ko lang alam kung extended hanggang ngayon. BTW, I'm not related to World English Reviews.

hay nako... cnabi mo pa... d ko naisip ang star wars... nakalimutan ko yun... unang pumasok sa isip ko yung the abyss... d ko alam kung baket... grrrrrrrrrrrr... mangiyak ngiyak ako pagkatapos ng exam... super bilis pa... parang nagmamadali yung instructor... it was nothing like the sample videos i've watched... sabi pa naman sa reviews... it's usually the filipino interviewers who are stingy on giving good scores... naiinis ako... i hope God hears my prayers and that He will give me the score that I need....

This is a very tricky situation.. i was just discussing this with my sister who took the IELTS review in NINERs... yung lecturer nila took ielts twice.. and both got 9 for all and 8.5 sa speaking..

<u><b>ang trick daw if you dont know anything about the topic..</b> </u>

1) is just to answer that you don't know anything about the topic

2) answer why you dont know

3) make a guess (state that you are making a guess) in related to the topic..

it's not the answer.. it's how you answer it..

So if i may answer the same SPEAKING topic, i would say:

1) honestly i really don't know anything about movies with futuristic themes..

2) I'm not a fan of these types of movies. Movies with subjects about the future does not excite me at all, i grew up in the province where drama is a big hit.. i am more familiar with topics about love, romance and struggles about everyday life.... etc.

3) I guess im very weird for not liking these movies, However.. if i must say, I guess for those who are thrilled to watch movies of this kind, they must be interested to know what will happen in the future, the technologies and how it will affect our life now....etc..

tapos closing remarks.. bow!!

i actually said that i am not into those kind of movies after I described the story. I told her that I don't remember all the details because I find it boring since I am not a fan. I really hope I get at least a 7... by the way, would you know if there if DIAC requires a certain score per occupation? I only remember them requiring at least a 6 in all bands... while Victoria requires 7 for my occupation. I am trying to list all my options..

6 po ang min requirement ng DIAC
of course, score 7 each band if you want to get 10 pts
next is to check requirement per occupation/state if you need SS

i'm just criticizing myself too much... sabi mo nga... it's how you answer the question... and I honestly do not like how I handled it... i stuttered too much... i dnt know if i was making any sense... basta... yun na yun... tapos na... hahaha... nakakatawa lang kac super bilis lang pala... parang sabi ko sa sarili ko... yun na yung 8000+ ko... hahahaha...

hahaha... from some of the comments i've read in some forums... mejo mapuna daw ang mga assessor from here unlike the foreign ones... foreign assessors tend to be more appreciative of interviewees who can speak another language apart from their mother tongue... they are easily impressed... while assessors from here expect too much... that's what i read.. sana nde totoo... but they usually are stingy on giving good scores..

I would agree with you on that observation. My assessor was Filipino and he was grilling me during the speaking exam. Yung kaibigan ko brit naman yung assessor nakikipagbiruan pa kasi kinakabahan kaibigan ko. hehe

I second @lock_code2004. I took mine <2 yrs ago and I think advise ko eh be honest talga. May mga questions na hindi ako familiar and I told my interviewer na I am not really familiar with the topic BUT I explained why. There's no such thing as wrong answer. Opinion mo yan eh. It's how you deliver it.

Then be natural. Practice lang talga, kung may mga kaibigan kayong ibang lahi, always talk to them, makakatulong yun sobra 😉

It's a test of your capability to deliver a conversation (or a lie)...so the assessor must be convinced you can do both hehe

I completed my speaking exam last wednesday. Lalake yung nag-interview sakin, he sounds british. Sa 1st part aside from the usual questions, tinanong nya ako about my favorite music and how many hours of sleep I normally get.

Tapos sa second part is I was asked to describe a product/service that I bought because of an advertisement I saw and then what prompted me to buy it. Ang kinwento ko is yung binili kong travel deal tapos dinescribe ko lang kung ano included sa package, anong ginawa ko dun sa resort at kung bakit I think it is a good buy. Most of the details I gave puro imbento lang, kasi wala naman din masyadong included dun sa package na binili ko. Hehe.

Then yung last part, ano daw yung mga usual type of media na ginagamit for advertising products and services at ano daw yung usual na image ang nakalagay sa mga print ads then kung effective daw ba gamitin ang music sa pag-promote ng products. Feeling ko sobrang daming nyang tanong, kasi may mga follow up question sya lagi tapos hindi naman sya tumitingin sa kodigo pero hindi ka naman kakabahan kasi nga di ba trained sila to smile all the time kaya relax ka lang din habang sumasagot sa mga tanong nya.

@rara_avis, from the looks of it...mukhang swak na swak yung exam niyo 🙂 Mukhang na-engage mo kasi yung assessor hehe. That's a better circumstance than getting a dead air during the exam hehe
