Hi all. I need some advise on selecting appropriate occupation. I actually have 2.58 yrs experience in IT audit, 2.9 yrs experience in internal audit, and 8 months of experience in SAP security & controls. My IT audit experience mainly focused on business process reviews and the IT audit support to financial audit team. For SAP security & controls, I was tasked to ensure that there are mitigating controls on SOD conflicts within SAP and train individuals on GRC process. My question is, will it be ok to claim work exp as IA for the 3 jobs since these are related to risk and controls? Btw, I'm an accounting graduate/ not an IT graduate.

@tw1nklestar, based on your stated nature of IT Audit work exp., I suppose it falls under External Audit (EA). In which case, you have more work exp as an Internal Auditor (IA) (2.9 yrs against 2.6 yrs). In my opinion, the SAP Security & Controls neither fall to both nor is a highly-related occupation.

You may be better off by nominating IA instead of EA - hoping that your EA exp. be considered as highly-related to IA (although I haven't encountered such in my limited readings), to have a total 5.5 yrs post-qualification employment.

Note that to claim for points for overseas employment in nominated skilled occupation or a closely related occupation, you must have at least 3 yrs work exp. (5 points) - the next rung being 5 yrs (10 points).

RE: POINTS TABLE QUESTION

<i class="Italic">"Qualification - An award or qualification recognised by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation"</i> (which grants 10 pts.).

Has anyone been issued an Outcome Letter where an award or a qualification - other than and in addition to Bachelors Degree (15 pts.) - was recognized by VETASSESS (the relevant assessing authority)? For example, the CIA designation which is the global gold standard for the IA profession.

@bcondepascua If you already claimed points for your Bachelor's Degree, you cannot claim points for other qualifications. I'm not even sure if they're going to consider the CIA designation as an award or qualification.

Ang taas na ng points for IA. Haay. Good luck sa mga nagfa-finalize pa lang ng points (like me). Kaya natin to. Hehe

@dyanisabelle Actually, across all occupations (including non-prorata), 70+ pointers lang yung naiinvite. Grabe yung competition ngayon. Tsk.

Hello! I'm also in IT Audit po. I think you can try to include all 3 jobs sa Vetassess mo, just make sure na clear sakanila yung mga tasks na ginagawa mo is related to the IA description. Yung external audit experience ko as IT audit inaccept naman nila kasi dun sa statement of service na ginawa kong supplement ng JD ko inemphasize ko naman yung tasks ko as advisory is more related to IA. 🙂

vetassess only assess qualification (university degree) and most likely not the CIA designation

yeah, dati ung accountant and external auditors lang ang mataas ang points required, recently pati internal auditor na din kc I think ung occupations na related sa accounting nka-cap na kc sa sobrang dami ng gusto magmigrate.

Base sa immitracker and iscah, yung na invite for ITA last Aug. 23 for IA, nag submit last June 5 pa, medyo matagal na pala backlog.

Yes, pwede yan sa IA. Kasi ako nag IA, nag accountant, external audit and IT audit. Kumuha din ako ng point test advise sa Vetasses dati. positive naman, nakuha ko ung max points for that mga 8+ experience ata di ko tanda. Ung CIA bonus lang yan, wala naman extra point jan (meron din kasi ako CIA, CISA, CRMA, CPA sinama ko sa applications ko, wala naman special consideration, siguro nagpabilis lang sa kanila mag decide na approved ung assessment at visa ko but no addt'l points) . Basta total ko naka 70 points ako pero year 2014 pa yan =)

@vhoythoy Wow, buti ka pa pati external audit experience naconsider. Nung naglodge ako last last year, nakalagay dun sa website nila na di daw nila inaaccept yung experience as accountant and external auditor.

Sa akin wala naging issue, closely related sya. anyway, baka depende sa nag assess. Basta pasado ako sa assessment ng vetassess, point test advise full experience ung recommended, and 70 points din ako. basta smooth na after ng assessment.

@misterV hi..🙂 I saw that you took PTE instead of IELTS. I am now considering to take PTE with the hope to get a higher band and increasing the points. For consecutive months, the cut-off for IA is 75points. Too high!

@chrisdg hi... how do you find the PTE exam compared to IELTS? I currently have 65points and thinking of takin the PTE for a chance to get higher band.

Hi guys. Question lang po. Nagpaassess po ako sa vetassess for IA and I received a negative outcome. Dahil daw yung education ko is hndi same level as australian education. I graduated sa PUP Sta. Mesa, and I am a CPA. Nagsubmit naman ako ng TOR, Diploma saka yung PRC certification ko. Hindi din tuloy naassess ang experience ko since sa education pa lang negative na. Ano po kayang pwedeng remedy sa situation ko? Thank you po.
