Hi everyone,

I am planning to start applying for 189 visa but might need some advise regarding my quite tricky situation. First, I would like to give you my background.

I have been working here in Brisbane for more than 2 years now as a Analyst/Developer under 457 visa. I was granted 457 visa on July 2015 and I worked for my sponsoring employer until April 2017 (less than 2 years). I then applied for a job with another employer and thankfully got hired. They processed the transfer of my 457 visa sponsorship and I am now working for them.

I started my career in IT in 2006 in Manila and I have been a programmer/developer ever since. I had worked for several companies in Manila.

Now, my questions are:

will I have issues with ACS assesment since I don't have IT college degree? (I am a Mathematics graduate with very little IT subjects in my transcript. Btw, I am a graduate of a section 1 uni.)
will there be an issue if I wouldn't be able to provide all work references since some of them are already gone?

@viperazor question 1 - it won't be an issue if you've got no IT degree. They will just have to deduct 6 years from your experience

Question 2 - yes, it will be an issue if you don't provide evidences as your previous work experience will not be recognised

and to add above statement #1 @viperazor , you will take RPL route since you're non-IT grad.

I'm doomed then. Now, I'm a little discouraged to proceed with my application. Deducting 6 years of work experience just because I am not an IT grad is quite disappointing, specially since, in my opinion, my degree (mathematics) is quite very relevant (if not, fundamental) in any IT-related field.

I have several Microsoft and Salesforce certifications as well. Do you think these will be enough for me to bypass the RPL route?

@RheaMARN1171933 Hi, what do you think will be the assessment for a completed 30-academic units of masters degree plus 6 units of undergrad subjects relavant to nominated occupation (on-going thesis) from a section 2 school and a Philippine bachelors degree previously assessed only as equivalent to AQF Diploma? thanks

Why not apply visa 186 instead of 189. Basa basa kalang madmaing info sa website mismo ng home affairs.

How do the age changes affect the subclass 186 and subclass 187 visas?

All visa applicants applying for subclass 186 or subclass 187 visas in the Direct Entry (DE) stream, on or

after 1 July 2017, must not have turned 45 years at the time of application.

There are no age changes for applicants for the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream of the

subclass 186 and subclass 187 visas. Applicants must not have turned 50 years at the time of application for

this stream.

From March 2018, applicants for the TRT stream of the subclass 186 and subclass 187 visas must not have

turned 45 at the time of application for this stream, unless the applicant held or had applied for a subclass

@BrizyFilo You are right about being positive and not to be discouraged. However, I'd be careful with the rest of your advice as it may mislead someone. I had to study a postgraduate course in Australian Immigration Law and Practice to be qualified to provide advice. I'm not sure whether the information I provided earlier which was sourced from the Australian immigration law professional library which all solicitors and registered migration agents are required to maintain whilst in immigration advice practice can be classified as "sabi-sabi".

@BrizyFilo the reference of universities, FYI, comes from the Country Education Profile which is maintained by the Ministry of Education. ALL ASSESSING AUTHORITIES base their decision on this list. I think all will agree that we need to be responsible when posting comments on this forum as anything we post may negatively affect someone's application.

Actually tama naman yung mga sinabi mo especially ito -> "it won't be an issue if you've got no IT degree. They will just have to deduct 6 years from your experience." Pero hindi ito consistent minsan 3, 4 or 5 years ang binbawas nila. Depende sa agent na mag aassess sayo. Ang hindi ko lang magets dito yung about sa section ng mga schools. Wala namang reference yan.

@RheaMARN1171933 Could you pls. provide a reference link about sa sectioning ng schools (yung hindi link dito sa forum). As far as I know, walang bearing yang sectioning na yan for ACS assessment. Pls give me a link from reliable source na ginagamit ng ACS na basis ang sectioning ng Uni and Sch sa Pinas.

But you need subscription to fully access it. Check my screenshot attached kung pano nila ina-assess ang isang Section 2 school.

With regards sa assessment naman ni ACS, may guidelines din sila how comparable yung degree mo sa nominated occupation mo. Like if bachelors degree ka, but not closely related sa occation, you will need to demonstrate 4 years of EXP. lahat po yan nasa ACS guidelines.

Example sa case ko. From section 3 school, based on CEP, AQF Advance diploma lang ako, basta 5 years full time and 200+ units. Pero if you have passed the exam for PRC, I will be assessed as Bachelors.

So si ACS, since AQF Advance diploma lang initial assessment sakin, I need at least 5 years of exp to be suitable. But I requested an Appeal with them, and demonstrate my case and show the evidence of my PRC, then later naging Bachelors Degree na lang ako, and need ng 2 years exp.

@Heprex salamat sa info Heprex.

I have tried to login using the link you have provided, pero may bayad pala para makita ang CEP for asia pacific countries. Anyway, again wala paring reference link na ginagamit nga ng ACS yang CEP na yan for education assessment. So until now palaisipan sa akin if totoo nga na may bearing ang CEP-Sectioning ng school sa result ng ACS.
