@LokiJr we just inquired about the baby bonus for my sister.. she's a PR and husband is australian..but kasi my ate is a new PR hindi pa kasi nag 1 year.. so di daw sya eligible but they can claim for other benefits for childcare hindi lang daw ung baby bonus.
if they went public.. free naman sila under medicare. if they go private, they really need to pay for it from their own pockets. kasi choice po to go private.. no one is forcing you to do it. sa private kasi you can stay longer.. 1 week ata whereas sa public after a couple of days, you will be sent home na if you and baby is healthy naman.
i was reading about the student visa.. it is very vague ano po entitlement if you are on a student visa. also i read na if you are the student and will be unable to attend school kasi you have given birth you can ask for an extension of your student visa..BUT also there's also a chance you will be sent home.
you can go public..it would not be free kasi like ice said, you don't have medicare and it's just like you are a tourist here.. so in a sense, you are not a tax payer and should not be legible for benefits that tax payers do BUT saying that..you can still give birth in a public hospital, you just need to pay for it.
it is cheaper than private..way cheaper po.
you also need to pay for your GP, all your scans and midwife check ups.
ultrasound if i remember correctly is about 200-300 aud per scan.
if you decide to give birth here.. then mag baon po ng malaki.
also of note, filipino po yung citizenship ng anak nyo when you give birth here..you have to apply for oz citizenship for baby, apply din also for dual citizenship kasi the initial passport for baby will be a filipino passport. in oz, citizenship of the mother will take precedence kaysa citizenship of the land.
