Just to share my experience.
Gave birth in Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney last month. Had CS operation because labor didn't progress after 36 hours my water bag broke.
It was good overall. My husband was with me the whole time I was in the operating room. And our baby never left our sight from the moment he came out. I was up and about within 24 hours after my operation. The hospital was full that time so we changed rooms several times but it didn't bother me. Most of the time I was sharing a room with another mum. Families can visit from 9am up to 1pm then 4pm-8pm again. Since I was on public healthcare system, my husband wasn't allowed to stay with me overnight. For those on private insurance, I think you can have your husband stay for a minimal fee (I think about 10-20aud/night, not so sure about this though) with free breakfast.
I love how the midwives took care of me. They were very patient in teaching me to let the baby latch for breastfeeding. On our 3rd day, I was allowed to go home and had home visits from the midwives three times. They came to check the baby's weight, how well I was coping and follow up on my progress on breastfeeding. Kung sa pinas pa 'to, I would be left on my own and would have gone nuts on how to breastfeed my baby.
We didn't pay a single cent for the delivery. Just presented my medicare card and that was it. π Yung expenses namin were just additional like we got stars for our baby's name on the hospital wall, had my placenta encapsulation and etc.
I hope this would help those who are giving birth soon. Good luck mummies! π
