How long did it take you to get a job?

Hello Carlo,

Good question. I live for 5 years in Europe. 1 year in Germany and 4 in the Czech Republic.

I am eligible for permanent residency in CZ next year but i chose Australia because I find Europe very constricting. Language barrier is a huge consideration. I can learn to speak Czech to be granted PR but I can only use the language within the country. Although having a CZ PR enables to me to work within Europe but still there is language requirement in each country.

Australia offers greater opportunities not to mention that salary could be 2-3X more than I am receiving now. 😃

@staycool - yes both westpac and ANZ are direct hire. Their HR consultant called me directly for the interview. Only two agencies called me, pagepersonnel and hays pero initial interview Lang din sa kanila.

@carrie - like @psychoboy, I was asked to give two references na work related preferably your immediate supervisors. It was through a third party agency and they would be the one who will send an email to your references to complete an online form. In my case I was updated Kung na-complete na nila reference form para I could personally coordinate with my previous supervisors to complete the form. 12 hours after my second reference completed the form, I received the online job offer which I accessed through my employer's official website.

Whooaaah SAP BASIS ka pala naman eh. Super in demand kaya yan dito sa Australia. Lagi ko yan nakikita sa mga job posting sites. May opening nga ngayon sa Commonwealth Bank na Basis Lead.. hehehehe nagkaroon din ng posting sa Nestle. 🙂

Ahahaha, mukhang big provider itong First Advantage... It was my 2nd time to deal with them, the first was more than 4 yrs ago before I entered my previous company in Singapore.

Took my husband one month to get an interview. Had 3 interviews so far in the span of almost 2 months... Ang hirap ng archi! Lahat daw ng galing Brisbane, Adelaide pumupunta sa WA kse damning nawawalan ng work ngayon sa part na yun kaya talo pag dating sa local experience... Pero syempre depende sa field talaga. Patok dito sa education.

i don't think in demand ang SAP Basis sa NSW. Tama ka, nag post ang Nestle at Commonwealth bank pero yung lang 🙁 In demand ang SAP Basis sa Canberra - pero dapat OZ citizen.

Mahirap kapag masyadong specialized ang IT skill.. pero once natanggap ka sa specialization mo - BIG TIME Ka!

Yes kita ko rin mga opening sa canberra, required kase security clearance kaya dapat citizen dahil federal govt un for sure. sayang nga may opening din don...

@Gori congrats sa job offers...pero hindi naman nakapagtataka kse specialized field ka na eh...kme dito saoffice ORACLE palang ang tinuturo...I would like to learn nga po sana about SAP and other Accounting systems eh...

First Advantage is the firm that undergoes background checks in behalf of companies; yun lang... 3rd party sya sa, hindi sya yung potential employee nor yung employer...
