@gori yeah very important na idownplay mo muna ung qualifications mo. Kase iisipin ng client na iiwan mo rin sila eventually kaya di sila naghhire ng overqualified. Nasabihan na rin ako ng ganyan dati kaya di raw ako nihire.

pero sabi sa IT forums sa linkedin, minsan daw palusot lang yan ng client (pag mismong client ang nagsabi ha) hehehe sa ngayon kase nakikita ko, buhay na buhay ang market ng SAP sa US at sa europe. hehehe pero depende rin sa skills and market demands. sa lagay ata na yan, dry pa raw ang market ng Australia, not sure gano ka-totoo. case-to-case basis din tlga.

Pero kaya yan, considering may skype interview ka off-shore. bihira yan kase nowadays daw companies are trying to stay away daw from doing skype interviews, so malaking bagay na nainterview ka kahit wala ka pa here 🙂

@Gori nagback thread ako SAP Basis ka pala same with my husband. Sana maging kasing lucky mo si hubby ko. Inaantay lng din nmin visa grant then magapply na din sya while here in SG.

@Gori pwede po ba i-downgrade ang CV?...paano i-edit yun para hindi ma-overqualified?...tanggalin ang ibang experiences?...ang akala ko is dapat promising ang CV, ayt?...

I got a job which is really in my skill set and same as my previous job in the philippines after two months. It's a supplychain analyst position. But prior to that I worked as a ticketer and picker in the head office of (Shiels) jewelry company for about 3 weeks. My advise is don't be choosy sa work kung anong unang dumating go for it and also try to search for a recruitment agency/head hunter. They can help you, from your CV to your communication skills and they will find the right one for you. Hays found a job for me which is really my job before and the company has the same industry as I have worked for before. The company is Sage Automation.Another thing is palawakin ang circles of friends and network. Sa ibang companies kse they preferred na referal ng isang employee like my previous job at Shiels I was referred by a friend. I applied for many positions in seek, siguro mga 5-10 post everyday in my first month. Kahit hindi gaano related sa work experience inapplyan ko and araw araw din ako nakakarecieve ng rejection emails. hehehe...A long and big patience ang kailangan. A friend of mine told me na darating din yung time at makakahanap ako ng work and it's true after two months and lastly prayers...this very powerful and true.

My first month here in SA is very hard. Halo halong homesick, lungkot, frustration, depression. I almost gave up and thinking to go back in the Philippines. I was a victim of scam here, they emailed me that they offer an admin assistant job and it was a work from home. They provided me the job offer and other documents. They used a company email and they have a website. Kinabahan nlang ako nung nagtransfer sila ng pera sa bank account and I need to transfer that via money gram or western union its part of the job they said. When I went to the bank to widraw it, I found out that it was a fraud at tinanong ako nung bank officer and fraud officer. Para akong binuhusan ng malamig na tubig nung sinabi skin yun. Umiiyak ako sa bank mag isa sa sobrang takot baka ikulong ako or what...But the bank officers are really nice, it will never happen they told me and I was a victim. Kaya to everyone looking for a job be careful din, I think sa gumtree ko inaplayan yun.

Wow Congrats Glaiza!!! I'm so happy for you! Habang binabasa ko post mo, nakkarelate ako.

1) Sabi ng mga taga-dito, wag daw muna tlga maging mapili sa work. Naghhanap din ako ngayon ng mga casual/part-time jobs while waiting for a job posting related to my actual core competency.

2) Yes, build a lot of networks with friends and recruiters. 🙂 May mga nakakausap akong recruiters via linkedin. It's just that right now tlgang wala pang mga job posting sa skillset ko. May mga connections ang mga recruiters and sometimes parating pa lang sa pipeline, alam na nila. Kaya very important to build a relationship with them. ANd yes, referrals would help.

3) Yang online job opportunity na yan muntik na rin ako mabiktima. Nagsearch ako sa google about the company and found out an aussie forum that says fraud nga sya... It involves wire transfers to fulfill some money laundering acts.. Good thing mababait mga tao dito sa Australia 🙂

One thing I also learned, have an Aussie local review your CV format. I was so wrong with this, I'm so confident na kase with my CV. hehehe

oh well I don't have work yet but believing God that greater things are yet to come. In the mean time, press on towards the goal muna ako.

Just to add lang din, I'm also getting a lot of rejection e-mails. hehehee

By the way, a recruiter met up with me yesterday. She asked me all the companies I've applied for so far. Actually sabi nya kase marami na raw inooutsource na SAP IT jobs ngayon sa Asia (like probably support). She was actually selling my skills with an FMCG company, kaso lang naghire sila ng internal candidate. Pero they will let her know daw after 6 weeks if they still need another candidate for that role. Tapos she said she's meeting with another company (beverage) to check what's in the pipeline. She's so nice to take some time interviewing me and getting my qualifications.

Tapos there was also another recruiter who added me in linkedin. wala pang posting but he already requested for my CV. and then there's this another recruiter who helped me get an interview via phone from the Phils. Too bad they said I was too senior for the role.. hehehe

Another advise ng mga taga-dito is to get certified or take some courses. 🙂

@stolich18 SAP ka rin pala. SAP basis ba? If yes, i wonder why Software Engineer ang code mo.

Pansin ko lng parang ang laging feedback ng mga recruitment eh overqualified. Di kaya strategy lang to para di ka magask ng malaki? Kasi for me mas ok ang overqualified kesa underqualified.

@jengrata. Yup SAP. Di ako SAP Basis, SAP PI middleware ako. Software Engineer inapply ko kase dun ung pinakamaraming pasok na tasks/job responsibilities sa mga ANZSCO code na nabasa ko. hehehe

Actually ang nagfeedback skn na overqualified eh ung mismong manager ng company na inapplyan ko. Ung naginterview skn, isang Technical lead (magmmove na kase sya to Basis) and yung pinaka-manager. NSW Education pala gumagamit ng SAP. hehehe

hmm in a sense yup ok maging overqualified para mas madaling idowngrade ang qualifications. hehehe i felt lang nung interview na their perception was hindi ako masyadong hands-on sa role ko dahil lead position na un, siguro dapat mas inexplain ko pa na nagttroubleshoot pa rin ako.

SAP Basis ka ba? 🙂

@stolich18 ah. Actually, ung hubby ko ang SAP Basis. Ako naman po eh Oracle Developer.

Cguro mas gusto tlga nila ung hands-on and mas focus sa technical roles kesa sa management skills. Yung overqualified ba eh kasama ung years of experience dun? Kasi 10years na kami pareho eh.

@jengrata yeah pdeng sa number of experience din. Sa pagkakapresent din cguro ng resume. Sa tin kase sa pinas, kahit high level position ka na, naghhands on ka pa rin naman tlga from time to time. hehehe dito kase pag nakita nila yun, isip nila hindi mo gusto magtagal sa company and you'll eventually leave them kaya kelangan tlga itailor fit ung CV.

Hindi naman tlga ako manager sa atin but siguro nakita kase nila nagddesign na ako ng solutions end-to-end kaya bka inakala na hindi na ako nagttroubleshoot. Support role kase un, so tlgang taga-monitor ng system and sa operations. Ung background ko naman parehong support and project development... depende siguro tlga sa hinihingi ng role

1 month na ako. May tumatawag naman na recruiters pero either mababa ang offer or sobrang layo ng location..
