Help Please - What type of VISA

I am a single parent of a 6 month old baby girl. Her father is an Australian citizen. We are not together although we are in speaking terms. He did sign my daughter’s birth certificate too, acknowledging her as his child.

I understand that this entitles my daughter Citizenship by Descent which I will try to lodge next week.

If everything goes well and she gets her citizenship, can I also apply for PR or Citizenship through my daughter? I really, really want to work and settle down in Oz but I prefer not to ask help from my daughter’s father as he is in a relationship, plus the fact that I want to make it there on my own. I wish you can help me find out what type of visa I can apply for. I also do not have any relatives living in Australia who can sponsor a visa.

I would really appreciate any help you can give.

@islaman - hi.. try the visa wizard in DIAC's website... just answer the questions and it will give you relevant visa types suitable for your case..

if I do that, and answer based on your case...

the answer is NO, you cannot apply for PR through your daughters citizenship..

Parents visa requires sponsorship of someone 18 years old and above..

But even if your daughter turns 18 years, the waiting time for Parents visa is atleast 15 years..

Your other options are:

migrant as skilled worker
find an employer who can sponsor you

So maybe I will just apply as skilled worker. But thing is, wala yung profession ko sa SOL. Ang hirap naman nito. 🙁

@islaman - great.. marami pong occupations related to HR.. but atleast nakita nyo na yan...

to give you a general idea, eto po ang basic steps:

1) Skills Assessment - you need to check specific requirements ng assessing authority. I believe VETASSESS po kayo..

2) IELTS exam - atleast score of 7

3) Submission of Expression of interest (EOI) and/or State Sponsorship (if required)

4) Visa application/Medical Exam

but first, you need to pass the points test.. you need atleast 60pts..

@LokiJr Anong klase pong endorsement ang kailangan? Kung letter lang siguro pwede, but I do not want to burden him na sasagutin nya ako if I come over, parang sponsorship. Sana po as much as possible, yung hindi ako aasa sa kanya when I get there. Thank you!

malamang po kailangan nyo ng sponsorship/financial support/etc...

mas okay sana ito, dahil hindi na kaialngan ng maraming proof khit hindi kayo kasal, dahil meron na baby.. pero ang problema "PARTNER" visa po ang ibibigay sa inyo..

at may 2 kinds of partner visa (permanent or temporary), in the end kailangan nyong mag-sama ulit.. or kailangan makahanap ka ng ibang way para maging permanent kung hindi kayo mag-sasama.. 😉

okay... isa isa lang po.. you need to understand all the processes/requirements para hindi sayang and oras/pera nyo..

Skills Assessment (Vetassess) - please check relevant threads dito sa forum , use search function sa upper right.. or visit their website and check their requirements for migration skills assessment..
certified true copy of all basic requirements (passport, picture, diploma/tor, cert of employments with job descriptions, other proof of employment, payslip, ITR)
atleast 4 months po ang processing nito...
fee approx 630aud
IELTS - while waiting for your assessment you can prepare/review/take the exam.
exam result is 13 days after your exam
fee approx 10k pesos
EOI - online submission po ito, walang kailangan isulat
you just need to have your result from skill assessment (No.1) and IELTS (no.2)
Wait for visa invitation application (online)

@islaman - CORRECTION po.. hindi pala VETASSESS and assessing authority for your occupation.. please double check sa SOL document ..

i cannot comment kung meron na dito ganyan..

meron po eh naka-hanap ng work/employer habang nasa pinas pa, then employer sponsored their visa..

pwede po kayo mag apply ng tourist visa..

just one thing: DIAC will somehow doubt your true reasons of going there as a tourist..

kasi kasama nyo ang anak ng citizen, so baka isipin nila eh hindi na kayo uuwi...

although pwede nyo ireason gusto ma meet ng father ang daughter.. okay this is fine..

finding a work while on tourist visa; not sure, but possible.. ang issue lang naman is, wag kayong mag work habang tourist visa..of course bawal talga..

1% po ang chance, the employer or employment agency will not talk to you coz your not allowed to work.

Puede nyo rin gawin pero dapat handa din kayo na tangapin kung wala kayong nakita. kasi po online din ang pag apply ng work wala po walk-in when it comes to office work. Goodluck
