Skilled - Nominated or Sponsored (Provisional) (subclass 489) visa

Hi pinoyau! This forum is very informative!

Here's our case, my wife is a registered nurse with 10 years of experience here in Pinas. Her sister, a pr holder in Melbourne, will be our sponsor for the subclass 489 visa. However we are clueless about this requirement in SkillSelect :<i> *have your skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority as suitable for your nominated occupation</i> does this mean that she still needs to take the bridging program in order for ANMAC to assess her skill? Even in this type of visa application? I've read in ANMAC Website that they are only assessing nurses with license given by APHRA. I know for a fact that bridging program is costly and my wife and i agreed that she doesn't necessarily need to practice her nursing profession in Oz but more than willing to get others jobs thhat doesn't require bridging program. Thanks in advance!

@Santi - Hi.. welcome to the forum..

a) yes, since 489 is a <b>Skilled</b> migrant visa, the primary applicant must have a positive skills assessment by the relevant assessing authority... in your case kailangan nga ng AU Nursing license, at bago nga magka license, kailangan ng bridging course APHRA...

b) if your occupation is in the SOL/CSOL, then that's another option, pwde naman na ikaw ang primary applicant (ikaw ang magpa-assess/ielts), and sponsor is your sister-in-law pa rin for visa 489..

Sabi ko na nga ba kailangan talaga mag bridging basta Nurse. So wala talagang easier pathway. 🙁

Re my occupation, i am a Medical Rep from a multinational company for 10 years nasa CSOL schedule 2 yung occupation ko. However yung schedule 2 is only good for applicants with state sponsorship, or business long stay visas. If SS route, kailangan ba nasa state SOL din yung nominated occupation? or pwedeng wala sa state SOL basta nasa CSOL sched 2 naman?

if your occupation is in CSOL Sched 2, you need to have a state sponsorship (SS)..

and since the state will sponsor/nominate you, your occupation should be in their list (SNOL- State Nomination Occupation List).

Some occupations in the CSOL Sched 2, will not appear all in one state's SNOL..

Kaya you have to check all states, kung saan ka pwede magpa-sponsor..

I've been reading the information on SkillSelect at gusto ko sponsor yung first cousin ko under subclass 489. Her occupation is under CSOL sched 1.

Gusto ko lang check kung tama ba pagkaintindi ko sa initial process.

Take IELTS and have her skills assessed by VETASSESS.
Submit EOI.
Pray and wait for invitation.

Question, kailngn po ba nya ng 10pts for the 489 relative sponsorship? If not, baka mas okay na derecho na sya sa PR visa 190 SS.. Gudlak!!

thanks lock_code. She's a Food Technologist. Nasa CSOL sched 1 yung occupation nya pero wala sa SOL sched 1.

Makakakuha sya at least 60 points kung walang relative sponsorship. Pero nababasa ko dito na the higher the points, the better the chance. Anong maisa-suggest mo? Salamat.

@hubertd - as far as I know,

a) kailangan nasa SOL Sched 1 ang skill/occupation, if you want to apply for Visa 489 (Relative Sponsored - Provisional)

b) Pero kung Visa 489 (State Sponsored - Provisional), pwede po sya kung nasa CSOL Sched 2 sya.

Now, kung nasa CSOL sched 2 sya, at makakuha sya ng atleast 55 points, then pwede sya mag pa state sponsorship, this will add 5 pts to her.. So total points 55 + SS 5 pts = 60 points.

She can then apply for Visa 190 (with SS) which is PR visa, instead of Visa489 Provisional visa only.

Of course, you need to check kung available sa state nyo ang occupation nya.. Food Tech should be in the state nomination occupation list.

@hubertd - one more thing.. the high points is now only applicable if you are applying for independent skilled visa 189... adahil mas konti ang restrictions nito, mas maraming nag-aply, kaya mas competitive dapat ang points mo..

but if you are applying for visa 190 state sponsorship, we can see from the current trend na automatic na po ang invitation, kahit na saktong passmark lang ang points mo na 60pts...

Thanks lock code. What do you suggest kasi na confuse na ko kung anong Visa apply namin.

She's a "Food Technologist". Nasa CSOL sched 2 ito. If needed, I can sponsor her too. I checked the list na pwedeng mag-sponsor at kasama naman ang first cousin.

Dito kami sa Victoria at may nakita akong Desginated list ng places at nakalagay na Victoria - Anywhere.

Ang problema, na-check ko yung Occupation List sa Victoria. Wala akong makitang Food Tech don. 🙁

Lock Code, I checked the Victorian occupation list again. Under Biotechnology and Science, merong R&D Manager at meron ding Engineering Technologist.

She's been working in Food Tech R&D for so long (not sure kung Manager sya. I'll check).

you CANNOT sponsor your relative for Visa 489
ONLY the STATE can sponsor for either Visa 190 (SS Permanent) or Visa 489 (SS Regional Temporary)

kung wala po sa state nyo, the only option is to get sponsorship from another state.. then after satisfying the 2yr residency requirements pwede na sya tumira kahit saan..

@hubertd - im a manufacturing/industial engineer for an oil and gas company..

wala pa po ako dyan sa AU.. nag initial entry pa lang..

hopefully will transfer there by the mid of this year..
