AU Migrants: Pls share your weekly/monthly budget...

TasBurrfootTasBurrfoot OsakaPosts: 4,336Member
edited January 2015 in Other Migration Topic
I don't think this was discussed previously but me and wife would want to ask if you guys can share how much is your weekly budget currently; if possible, kindly include breakdown (i.e: rent, transpo, grocery, etc...)

This information will greatly assist incoming migrants on preparing on how much to prepare for the BIG move down under.

Thanks!

Thanks @Bigfoot... Mahal nga yung allocation of budget nila on food - 300/wk? Andami nun ha!! :)

I am more interested actually with real numbers of some forumers here if they are okey to share, at least mas realistic yan to benchmark.

    Here's mine:

Rent: 175/wk (inclusive of electricity, water and internet)
Transpo: 142 for 28 days (Train)
    Food: 200 / month
    Mobile: 60 / month

Note that I am living alone as of the moment and in a shared room accomodation.
This will change as soon as my family arrives.
Libre ang fresh milk sa office kaya cereal lang binibili ko para bfast sa umaga at lahat ng binibili ko if possible ay puros home brand ng woolworths or coles which is an equivalent to SM Bonus in PH which is very cheap compared to the same product na may brand.

Estimate ko if my family is here.

    Rent: 300-350/wk (inclusive of water)
Transpo: 142 for 28 days (Train) for me. Another 50/month pag mamasyal kami or grocery.
    Food: 600 / month
    Mobile: 120 / month
    Internet: 70 /month
    Electricity: 150 for 3 months

    Hope this helps.

    @psychoboy no worries mayt :D

if I may add, yung transpo nagvavary din...
habang papalayo ka sa city if ever you will work in the city... mas nagmamahal din ang train fare..

Mas mura mamili sa Aldi's although limited items compared to Woollies and Coles. In a week around 60 to 100$ sa groceries for us couple.

One thing I learned recently about the rent, is Yung monthly ay based sa annual price and hindi sa weekly. E.g. 100/wk ang pinangako senyo, so dapat $100 x 4 wks = $400/month, right? Wrong! That's $100 x 52 wks in a year / 12 months = $433 per month. Had to learn that the hard way from my agent.

^Pag may sale lang ako bumibili in bulk gaya ng tissue rolls at softdrinks in can pag lumalabas sya na around 45cents per can. Tipid din bumili ng laundry detergents, yung nasa tig-2Liter or jumbo box varieties. Other than that, parang sari-sari store lang sa akin yung coles at wolies, bibili lang pag may kailangan.

salamat sa concern Davidx23 haha!..bulk kc kmi mamili sa costco ng meat, fish, and groceries and lasts for almost two weeks sa freezer...minsan mas matagal pa nga hehe kc minsan take away o dine out kmi..ung tinapay nilalagay din nmin sa fridge pra mas mahaba ang shelf life nya..ung mga veggies & fruits nmn woolies o asian store nmin binibili..I cant do groceries everyday kc may baby pa kmi I need to go home quick after ofc..
