Hi! I would like to know if there are Filipino teachers in Aussie? Or are there teachers here who are also applying for a visa to Australia? Kindly share your experiences and the processes that you've undergone regarding visa application.

Thanks in advance.

Wala yatang Filipino na ngtuturo sa Aussie???? According to my friend, dati meron daw mga teachers but then nag-qquit mahirap daw kasi ang accent. Lumilipat ng ibang job mga teachers doon, how true is it? Sabi ng Aussie friend ko when I told him I'll be applying as a teacher in Australia, he said the problem is the language barrier and he suggested me to apply as a waitress in Filipino restaurant instead. Ganun ba talaga nangyayari sa iba na hindi nakakakuha ng job according sa profession nila, they would work as cashier, waitress and other blue collar jobs?

yeah its true the problem is language barrier sa spelling pala may pagkakaiba ang american english sa australian english. kahit mga Australian american european may mga words sila na di magkaintindihan because of the spelling.

My concern is I still don't know which skilled work should I nominate cuz when I enquired to AISTL, yung assessing body for teachers, they said I will be assessed according to my initial educational qualification, which is in my case is BSE (teacher for high school) but I spent the majority of my work experiences in Primary Level. Now, I'm eyeing on nominating TESOL (Teacher of English as a Second Language) cuz yun talaga pina-practice kong skill dito sa abroad however I don't know if they will consider my college course (BSE Major in General Science) but I took a short term course for TESOL in La Salle. So, I will try...hopefully it will work.

    goodluck.

Thanks sa information Mr. Totoy, etong research na ginagawa ko e di ko naman magawa ng fulltme cuz I'm still working and living alone so I just do during my spare time. Dun sa una kong enquiry sa AISTL as Primary Teacher ayon sa kanila they cannot recommend which occupation to nominate pero yun nga my skill will be assessed according to my initial qualification, so feeling ko No ang answer. I can't nominate Primary Teacher nor Secondary Teacher cuz ang experience ko sa level na yan ay 10 years ago pa at one year lang. So etong TESOL, I will check on VETASSESS. AS of now I'm concentrating on my IELTS.

    Good luck too!

    13 Feb 2010 - took the IELTS (L-9;R-8.5;S-7.5;W-7)
April 2010 - applied for AITSL certification; AITSL requested for course syllabi of major subjects and a certification from Uni that I underwent at least 30 days of supervised teaching; was given until 26 Nov to submit docs. // 10 Jan 2011 - AITSL issued the certification (Positive! yey! despite being unable to send requested additional docs)
    23 May 2011 - lodged 176 fam-sponsored app online
29 Dec 2011 - CO allocated; CO requested for more evidence of Specific Work Experience
    7 Mar 2012 - received email for Medicals and PCC // 14 Mar - check-up at St. Luke's // 19 Mar - medicals finalised
4 Apr 2012 - applied for NBI clearance (hit!) // 25 May - got the NBI clearance.

Hello, nice to hear from you. Wow! What a coincidence, birthday ko pa nung nag-lodge ka ng application mo. Hopefully positive and application mo. I read some feed backs in the other forum about teaching in Australia, mahirap daw kasi makakuha ng work sa teaching field, most employers are looking for local experience saka may ibang states daw na pagt-takin ka ulit ng English test at kelangan maka-8 ka sa Speaking and Listening. Sa akin, kahit assistant teacher ok na, basta me stable job. Problem ko is BSE ang course ko but ang teaching experience ko is sa elementary. One year lang ako ng-teach sa high school and it was 11 years ago.

Reply to @bajayjay: Hello @bajayjay, bago lang ako sa site na ito and really looking for some teachers na nag try na magpa-assess sa AITSL and I found you.. swerte.. How did you answer that? Please need assistance.
    Salamat in advance..

Wala bang preschool teachers? LOL Ako, three years na nagtuturo. Pero I chose to study nalang ulit.

hi @dnoblec, sa pagkakaunawa ko sa skillselect, it would not make a difference kung may relative ka man o wala. sabi nga ni @lock_code2004, may chance ka kung meron ka at least 60 points based sa system ng skillselect. kung tingin mo ok, punta ka sa site ng aitsl. pa-assess ka na agad. una, kelangan mo lang makakuha ng ielts na hindi bababa sa 7 sa lahat ng tests (l,r,w,s); pangalawa, mas madali sa mag-e-evaluate kung nakatapos ka ng bachelor of secondary education, major in chemistry (since you said chem teacher ka) - manghingi ka lang sa skul mo sa college ng transcript at certification na nag-undergo ka ng supervised teaching for at least 45 days; pangatlo, ito ay kung magagawa mo lang naman to increase your chances, magsama ka na rin ng mga naitagong syllabi sa mga major subjects mo, e.g., measurement and evaluation, methods of teaching, philo of educ, etc; pang-apat, hingi ka sa employer mo ngayon ng coe kung saan nakadetalye mga subjects na tinuturo mo at kung ano year level tapos age range ng mga students mo (yung sakin, nilagyan ko ng 13-17), tapos importante indicate mo kung full-time yung teaching job.

pag positive ang resulta ng app mo with aitsl, i-EOI na agad, hintay na lang na imbitahin ka mag-lodge. ang maganda dito, same IELTS result lang gagamitin mo sa DIAC (assuming within 2 years mo kinuha ang ielts by the time mag-lodge ka), since at least 7 naman lahat, automatic may plus 10 points na agad; overseas work experience = 10; age = 30?; educational qua = 15; total of 65. kayang kaya yan!

about sa relatives ulit, syempre malaking tulong na may aalalay sayo dito sa OZ pagdating mo. unang-una, kelangan mo mag-open ng bank account, mag-apply for Tax File Number, pumunta sa Medicare, alamin ang pasikot-sikot ng mga daan, i-feel ang mga bagay bagay para maka-adjust, mag-apply for driver's license.

in any case, gusto ko lakas ng loob mo, sana magtagumpay ka. May the odds be ever in your favor. :) God bless.

Hi bajayjay, thank you, thank you talaga!! Nag try ako mag paassess online pasok ako. Nasa sol naman ang Secondary Teaching. Graduate ako ng Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Chemistry. Darlyn
