Hi Guys , please feel free to share those basic, common, frequently asked question in Migrating to Australia. Ill start it with...

Q: I want to migrate in Australia, How do I apply a Australia / How do I jumpstart my application ?
A: First of all you have to assess which visa is suitable for you, different visa has different purpose. The most applied visa by people in this forum is the Skilled Independent visa (as of this writing the code is subclass 189) or sometimes called Landed PR visa and another hot visa is Student Visa, you could probably guess what that visa is for. The best is to use the visa finder at http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1 to find out more on the types of Visa

Q: What are the steps for Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)?
A: Please check the page 1 of this page => http://pinoyau.info/discussion/101/general-skilled-immigration-visa-step-by-step-process#latest . Please note that the thread is still up to date and lots of people are sharing their experiences there, just feel free to join and ask.

Q: How much is the visa application?

A: This question is quite generic. For Visa Fee and charges, you can check on this page for the exact and latest fees https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Fees, this is solely visa fee and for different types of visa - charges for skills assessment varies, consider also the exam fee for English Proficiency Exam (e.g. IELTS), and others. Try using the search bar above for your chosen / nominated occupation and check if there are other related amount you need to prepare (e.g. show money).

Q: Can I choose a different occupation in SOL?

A: Yes! You just have to make sure that your job description matches the Job Description of the one you are choosing! meaning... Job Title doesn't matter as long as you are able to highlight that you're previous jobs are exactly matches the Job Desc of the nominated occupation in SOL.

one more frequently asked question is ...

Q: What does school section means (e.g. Schools ranked as Section 1, 2, and 3)? How is it related to the comparable Australian Degree to attain the 15pts?

A: Based on members experience here... those members who's school is falling in Section 1... all course is comparable to Australian degree. so they are for sure able to get a 15pts.

    Additional FAQ:

Q: I submitted my EOI and I got 60 points for Visa 189. When will i get the invite?

A: There are two rounds of invitation every month. You can refer to the DIBP website for current and future rounds. It does not necessarily mean you will get an invite if you have 60 points. It always depends on the quota for your ceiling occupation. Those occupation almost reaching the ceiling usually prioritises those with higher points(e.g. 70pts). If there are 60 pointers submitted way ahead of you with similar nominated occupation, they will get the invite first(first come-first serve basis). Kaya take the English exam and try to be above the 60 points mark. As for other occupations, suwerte kasi kahit 60 points, they get the invite. It really depends sa available slots for your nominated occupation..

    Q: Can I submit 1 EOI with both 189 and 190 subclass?

A: Yes but most states require that you select them on your EOI application as the preferred state. In this case, if you are trying to submit to more than 1 state, you have to create a separate EOI, pero 190 lang ang iselect mo na subclass with the preferred state for each EOI. Or you can take a chance na maselect ka if you have a single EOI, choosing any state as an option..

Q: I got an email from a state asking me to apply for State Sponsorship, eto na ba yung Visa 190 ITA?

A: Not yet. Some states require you to submit an application to them and pay a fee(e.g. AUD 300 for NSW) for state sponsorship application. If ma meet mo yung criteria ng particular state and you get the SS approval, you will automatically get an invite in your SkillSelect account to apply for a 190 or 489 visa. Note that you will be morally obligated to live and work on your state sponsor for two years.

Q: I am a Registered Nurse overseas with at least two years work experience, should I take a Bachelor Degree in Nursing or the Bridging Program?

A: Should take the Bridging Program granting you already acquired the level of English required (7.0 across all 4 components of IELTS). Taking a Bachelor Degree in Nursing means you did not met the minimum requirements. This is the sad part. Most education agents will ask the applicant to take BSN despite the fact that the applicant is an RN with at least 2 years' work experience.

Q: I am already done with the Bridging Program and got registered. What should I do now?

A: Two things you can do: (1) apply for GSM and start looking for available posts; or (2) do a work training program for nurses where you are allowed to work 30 hrs/wk paid at least the minimum based on the existing Award rate, and obtain additional points with a chance of being sponsored under the 457 visa.

Q: I previously been to Australia under the 457 visa, and the company closed. Does that mean my visa will be cancelled?

A: No. According to the Regulations once a 457 visa holder ceased working for the sponsoring company, he is given 90 days to find a new sponsor, nominate his position and obtain approval, AND transfer his 457 visa. In the event that the visa holder was unable to find a new employer, his visa is deemed cancelled after the prescribed 90 days.

Q: I overstayed my visitor visa for over one month. If i am removed from Australia, will be allowed to go back?

A: Yes, BUT since you overstayed your visa section 48 takes effect. Meaning you will be barred from entering Australia for at least 3 years.

Q: I entered Australia as a holder of a 600 visa. Can I extend may stay?

    A. Depending on the condition of your visa. If your visa has a "NO FURTHER STAY" condition, you need to depart Australia before your visa expires.

Q: I am separated from my previous marriage, and I am now in a de facto relationship who is an Australian Citizen. I have been with my new partner for over a year now. Can I be sponsored by my partner?

    A: Complicated :), BUT yes.

Hi, this thread is so helpful. surprisingly I am from Vietnam but I would like to do a Master's degree with the University of the Philippines Open University (section 1). I got a big concern, as I did my Bachelor degree from a section 2 university, so its only comparable to an Associate degree here in Australia. In this case, is my section 1 Master's degree still equivalent to the Australian one? thanks heaps guys

Hi, good day, everyone. I am currently trying to find some group information regarding ANZSCO 312912, metallurgical or material technician because I want to migrate to Australia with my family. By the way, I am an Operations Manager in a servicing company specializing Non-destructive testing, also licensed in the profession here in the Philippines. It will be much appreciated if someone could guide me or advise me on what to do. Thanks

you have two options sir. hire and agent to help you with the process, or do it on your own. a lot of people here are in the option 2. but you really need to put on a lot of time reading and searching. you can start by assessing your occupation, and then taking english exams.

@ga2au thank you for your comment sir. Yes, I need to take English exams first, which is also the advice of the agent. Followed by a skills assessment thru VETASES. I thought that there are already people who migrated to Australia that have the same profession as me. It would be wonderful to get some inputs to them. Anyways, I will try to do more research on this one. Hoping to learn a lot of things from this amazing forum. Cheers!

    Hi everyone!

My partner and I lodged our Visa Subclass 482 last December 1. I am the main applicant and he is my subsequent entrant. We also did our medical exams at SLEC last Dec 22. The ImmiAccount already updated my assessment and said that it is already cleared. However, my partner received an email from BUPA requesting for additional assessment because of abnormal findings from his xray. Just wondering if affected din yung pag timeline ng pag grant ng visa ko since sabay kami nag apply and under one ImmiAccount? Or can my visa be granted separately while waiting for the results of his additional assessments?

Thank you and hoping for your reply. Happy new year! 🙂

I may be wrong, but I thought you could only apply for a subsequent entrant visa for another person if the main applicant has already been granted a visa? It seems that you and your partner are part of the same application.

Hi! Sorry for the confusion and misuse of the term, but that is right. We lodged our application together. I'm the main applicant and he's the secondary applicant.

Hi! Sorry for the confusion and misuse of the term, but that is right. We lodged our application together. I'm the main applicant and he's the secondary applicant.

@Linetdane, similar case yata nung sa inyo or related.

Ibang case ata to kasi nagka finding sa health yung sa amin nagkaron lang ng technical issue. In any case you may wish to check with technical customer service link below:
