I know someone who had childhood tb completely cured na kasi in her 30s already and has worked in dubai in icu also. She underwent all tests again here even if she passed her visa medicals. Her x ray showed scarring. She was not allowed to work even though she had letters from her pinas doctor, dubai doctor and the doctor who did her oz visa until she had mantoux or qt gold, ct scans paid by the hospital and reviewed by the oz doctor na scar lng talaga yun and not active tb.
@li_i_ren - so in this particular case po, after all the reviews by the OZ doctors na inactive ang tb, hindi pa rin ba sya pinag-work?

She was able to work after the oz ct scan and other blood tests done here in au... But remember tb is completely reversible. May cure po ang tb and after couple of weeks of treatment, it non infectious din. Childhood tb pa yun but the scars will persists forever in her lungs but the bacteria will not be present anymore.

Whereas hepatitis b there is no clear cut treatment po. There is a immunoglobulin treatment offered but its very expensive and complete treatment is not asssured hence most doctors specially in poor countries like pinas does not offer it kasi d nman siguradong mag work.. Almost 20 thou pesos per treatment ata yun and you require a couple of treatment without the asssurance you will be hep b free.

Difference between tb carrier and hep b carrier... Tb carrier like most filipino, we will test positive for the mantoux test but it does NOT mean we are infectious to other people so even if we are in the same room with a tb carrier no one gets tb. Tb carriers if they get cancer or chemo, it means they can develop an active tb but if they are healthy no one .. Not even the tb carrier will get sick.

Hepa b carrier... If you have sex with a co- worker, they can pass hepa b. if they get finger pricked at work and that needle is used on somebody, they can pass the hepa b.

So mas ok pa may tb kaysa may hepa.

The immunoglobulin talaga ay hindi treatment. Given lang to "boost" your immune system. Particularly helpful kung Hepatitis C. But the world has yet to find a cure for ANY virus. Even the common cold has no cure. Once you have hepa, you have hepa forever.

While TB (not a virus) is curable.

Yup yup... There is no cure kaya not advocated by most doctors.

Some virus do have a cure naman currently treating a pt. with cytomegalo virus with foscarnet as ganciclovir not advocated for cancer pts.

Herpex simplex is a virus.. Acicovlir is the treatment of choice.

Swine flu is a virus.. Treated with tammiflu.

I can go on if you want.. So meron po treatment for certain viruses;)

...im at work right now and i can enumerate all the antivirals in pur cupboard; p

Opo treatment po. But not cure. The anti-virals prevent progression of disease. So, the body can mount enough immune response against them. Technically, we are not really curing, we are just helping our body fight against it. The herpes, pag na-"treat" na natin, parang nawawala. Pero nagtatago siya (in dorsal ganglion). Awaiting the time when the immune response goes down, it attacks again. Parang hepa. But I get what you mèan po. Will PM you po for more, mukhang OT na.

Nakakaaliw basahin mga post ng ating mga nurses dito sa forum dami kong natutunan! Clueless din ako before about sa hepaB... alam ko lang lagi kasama sa medical test requirement... now nagka interes ako magbasa about its implications...

I concede to nadine;) she's right kasi there is no treatment if it is not a cure;) ... This is the way doctors think:)

I was trying to say that there is a treatment pero i didnt mean it is a cure;) ... This is how nurses think;)

@li_i_ren Hi po ask ko lang kc worried ako 2008 nung nalaman ko nagka minimal PTB ako inactive sya at negative din ako sa 3 sputum test ko. so everytime mag xray ako laging my haze or lung scar kaya madalas nag 2x ako xray bago masabi na scar sya. ngayon po nasa europe country ako same process nag 2x xray ako para ma sure ng doctor na wala nga ako TB.. ang question ko po ang bf ko nasa australia and plano ko next year mag bakasyon sa australia my chance ba na hindi ako makakuha ng visa dahil sa scar lungs ko and maybe soon kasi kunin nya na din ako. fit to work naman ako and im currently working here.. knkabahan talaga ako madalas lage ko winoworry ang medical ko kahit ok na ako at nakapag abroad ako my bansa kasi na ayaw nila s gantong kaso. thanks

@MissKris same process lng din.. X2 ka most likely mag x-ray but that should not be a problem. Yung kilala ko is now working na din as nurse after x-ray, ct scan and other test kasi na prove naman nya na scar lng yun.

Hassle lng but ok lng yan.

haay nka hinga kahit papaano.. kaya lang ang prob ko ulit this time kasi kung hingan ako ng previous xray ko wala ako mapapakita bale po kasi pang second country ko na to sa europe nahirapan kasi ako kunin ung xray copy o result ko sa una kong country kasi ayaw ibigay. wala po bang kaso yun? dito ko na ba gagawin yung medical just incase o sa australia na? pero thanks ate atleast less worries na ako.

God bless to all.ako po ay hepatitis b carrier,ngayon nag aaply po ako sa australia.hinde ko sinabi sa agency na may hepa b ako.kung sakali po bang makalusot ako at makapunt ng australia pag dating ba dun may medical exam uli upon arrival?although hinde pako nag papa medical dito sa pinas.sabi kc ng iba wala daw hepa b screening pag sa australia ang apply, lalo na daw sa mga welder,mechanic at contruction.totoo ba ito?salamat sa sasagot.nawawalan na kc ako ng pag asa.ilang beses na kc ako hinde natatanggap dahil sa pesteng hepa na to.sana may makatulong,.hinde kc biro ang sakripisyo sa pag aapply,lalo na ang gastos.almost 200kpesos ang hinihinge ng agency.kaya ang iniisip ko baka pag natuloy ako at pag dating ko dun bigla din akong mapauwi sayang baka d ko kayanin ang depress kung mag ka ganon.

@hope14344 Hi! Only medical related occupation Lang ang kailangan Ng Hep B screening.

I also have Hep B inactive state with fatty Liver pero was able to pass the medical test naman. Ang principal applicant is my husband and dependent Ako. I personally declared it para Lang Walang maging problem. Before the medical nagpa lab test Ako and nagpaultrasound ng liver and kidney, liver function test and Hepatitis DNA test.

During my medical mataas ang ALT ko sa liver function test Ko kaya I was asked to have another test after 3 months which was advised by BUPA.

No worries, you will definitely pass sa medical. Marami akong na encounter with my same case na nasa Australia na rin like me. Hope this help. God bless.

Salamat sa thread na Ito. Matagal na akong aspiring mag migrate sa AU kaya lang mejo hesitant ako. I found out I was hepa reactive on my first pregnancy back in 2006. This 2016 bumalik yung desire ko na mag try ulit. I underwent s lahat ng test for hepa b. Ultrasound, LFT at Hepa DNA test. Awa ng Diyos ok nman lahat ng test ko at di na kailangan mag gamot. Inactive carrier ako. Kaka lodge ko lang ng ACS assessment ko at ngayon basa basa about sa PTE Academic exam. Update ko kayo sa journey ko. Never loose hope. God knows what is best for each and every one of us. Walang impossible sa kanya.

@ mariem, thanks for sharing your experience. Im also a hepa b non-reactive and previously have a fatty liver. Kakacreate ko lang ng EOI under production/plant engineer. May I know if you have known someone na principal applicant and having a hepa b na nakapasa sa medical? also yung mga lab test mo prior the required medical ng immigration, nagamit mo ba ang mga result nun as additional docs for your visa application? thanks
