    @adamwarlock depende sya sa realestate agents at landlord. Nung kami ung ngrent tumawag tlga sa landlord namin in SG ska nagprovide pa kami ng lease agreement s past 3 residence nmin s SG bukod pa s proof of funds. Siguro may mga realestate agent na di nman masyado mahigpit.

    I'm glad this thread is so active! I just have a question to everyone that have settled na sa Melb, preferrably yung fam of 3. I'm a bit anxious na kasi we're moving na in 3 weeks (we have a 2yo). How much po roughly ang expenses per month with bills? Of course tipid mode and excluding the house. Pls help.

    @newBeg19 hello! fam of 3 din kami. we moved almost 3 yrs ago..we were lucky na may friend kami na nkabili ng 3bed house and where shes renting out the two rooms samin (shes single and hardly at home- so prang kami lg din sa bahaY).

    our MONTHLY expenses are as follows;

    1.rent $825 bec she split d normal rent of $380 in to 2)
    2.mobile-$45 hubby and $15 for me (i used to be on post paid, pro na s stress ako kaya nag prep ulit ako haha), marami nmn promos dito mdali lng lumipat ng providers pag prep ka so nka lock in $15 ako sa 6mnths promo, after nito hanap nmn ako ng ibang provider na below $20 nway i only need 10gb a mnth max
    3.elec/gas/water bills-$100 a month
    4.insurances -$160 (2cars)+ $60 (my life ins w critic cover) - ung super ann dito may default nmn na insurance cover so we stopped hubbys extra cover and increased d coverage sa life ins nia thru his super
    5.childcare-$700 (2 days childcare/3 days family care)
    6. carloan -$660 (2cars)
    7. myki card (hubby commutes)-$148
    8. Gas-$200 (hubby drives to train station only and i work 15mins from home)
    9. school-$100 (1200/year kindy 3 - year 2018 govt school)
    10. groceries-$600
    11. WIFI- $56

    other expenses is 'random' clothing/shoes shopping (due to change of weather narin), pharmacy expenses, eating out ( we make sure we dont spend more than 200 amonth- there are months that its below 100) and unlucky days na may fine sa vicroads :D:D

    childcare is a big chunk- our daughter is 4yrs old this year, so nxt year when she goes to primary, that means no more childcare and fam care that around $8500 a year!

    so if ur renting an average of of 3 bedroom here alot $400 a week, if u get something lesser good, if u live a bit far , then watever u save will also go on transpo.
    if may ma convince kau na parent to look after ur child at least until 4yrs old mas mkakatipid kau.

    Goodluck to everyone who will migrate soon! Hope to meet more pinoyau friends 'in person' :D

    @jkk32w wow thank you for the detailed info!

    This is very helpful. Appreciate your time writing this. May question ako though:

    - When you arrived both naba kayo may work? And what industry kayo? (My hubby po is sa IT - Software Eng and I'm a nurse by profession but my experience is sa HR/Admin)

    -We both don't know how to drive kaya hindi kame bbili ng car haha. Malamang jan nakame magaaral. Madali lang ba ang process and pagkuha ng license as newbies? We are hoping talaga na makakakuha kame ng work and house na accessible ng transpo.

    - Childcare is mahal pala talaga haha! No parent to look after the baby. Plan ko nga di muna ako magwwork until magschool sha but I guess sa laki ng expenses kailangan haha.

    - What po ang okay na mobile provider so far? I believe ganyan din ang magiging plan namin ni hubby. Postpaid and pre paid for me.

    -Hoping we can rent a house when we arrive kasi both kame walang work and we're looking at a 2BR lang naman. Wala kame kakilala jan hehe. Suggestion sa suburb? Di naman kalayuan sa cbd di rin super lapit. San bakayo banda sis?

    @jkk32w Thanks sa info, this is very helpful kasi kami kakilala dyan. You have any advise kung aling suburb mas okay(interms of rent and distance sa CBD).

    @newBeg19 hello!!

    - Wen we arrived, we stayed in a friends house where they lent us one room for $130 a week. Though d kami nag resign ni hubby at d same time, pinag settle ko muna sia and waited until he finds a job. He got a job after 2 weeks thankfully. He started as IT support kc aim namin na mka hanap tlaga sia full time, pra d kami magka prob sa papers if we choose to rent on our own. Bumalik kami sa AU ng daughter twice sa melbourne before nag permanently settle. i used to work for an airline so mura lng pamasahe. after 6mnths ni hubby on his own, nka hanap ako ng work by applying online/skype interview so wen we flew in, may work nko agad. We did not want na both kami maghhnap ng work dito, nway kaya nman ang long distance and indi nman permanent. much better parin may inflow ng money and not totally giveup everything and hope for the best. May konting investments and savings kami pro wla kaming stable passive income during that time. and ayw din namin na susugal fully and all in sa savings :) so we thought na mauna muna sia mag settle. we were blessed smooth transition namin. and withn 2months since we all settled, ayun nkahanap kami to rent as mentioned above na sobrang affordable.

    -If newbie kau and wla kau drivers license sa pinas, medjo mahaba ang process kc dadaan kapa as holder of learners permit, then P plate, bfore being granted a full license. it involves minimum hours to drive w someone na may license, may exams as well in between. pde nman mauna muna isa sa n u pra d rin masyado malaki gastos and for a start isa lng nmn tlaga car need. nag decide kami na dlawa na car namin later on nung stable na kami. and we need not buy a new car nman , mrami second hand dito na murapa. aftr all ang purpose lg nmn ng sskyan is to get u from point a to b :) ayw rin nmin ng malaking car loan.

    - yes childcare on avergae is $110-130 a day less govt rebate where rebate is dependent on u and ur hubbys combined income. kami 2 days lng muna kami nag childcare and 3days fam care kc may kakilala kami na friend na resident mom nia and walking dist sa bahay. so we pay $25 a day for that and childcare is around 50 or $55 a day. nkakamura parin kaisa one week mag childcare.

    - mrami nmn phone providers dito, major ones are telstra and optus. pro mraming small telcos nag o offer ng occasional promos. budget nio nlng 30 each per month thats an average.

    -were in northern suburbs, its 35mins drive to d city, 40mins train and 25mins sa airport.
    message me pag malapit na kau punta bka maging neighbors tau hehe. i would suggest na mag rent muna kau room when u get here and while u look for a 2br house to rent, mrami nmn pinoi nag s share. while u process ur ID's and papers wen u get here room muna and while u settle first few weeks and see how u go in terms of groceries. bka within a month or 2 months na paghnap nio work need nio rin maghanap san mas malapit na haus or accesible sa transport. i have other friends who lives in the east 1.5hrs from airport or 1hr from the city kc dun malapit work nila. others nman are in the west kc d masyado malau sa city , airport and work. so most of d time mag ma mmater san ka mag work. if city ka lng mag work magnda nman ang public transpo ng vic , may trains and trams. most suburbs have stations.

    @jkk32w thanks for this. In our case sis sabay2 kame ppnta and we'll see how it goes. I know it's not easy but it's going to be worth it ika nga. Yes, I'll take your advise, maghhouse share muna kame habang naghahanap ng work si hubby. Need to be practical.

    May mga nakausap nako na inooffer spare room nila na pinoy for the mean time na wala pa work then kapag may full time na dun nakame hanap ng bahay close to work. I totally agree with you on that! :) first 2 weeks namin when we arrive is airbnb so we'll see.

    Ah really nagwork ka sa airline? Ung brother ko crew sha sa isang airline din dito kaya nakaless din sa pamasahe ko. Malaking bagay hehe.

    Thank you sa update mo sis! Yup, update ako baka sakaling neighbors at kita kita
