@caiomhe10 me offer letter na ko cambridge intl college aged care 3 and 4 pero til now pinag iisipan ko pa kc xmpre mas mganda ung BN kc me post study vis ka after and kung habol mu tlga ung PR after. plan ko dn ung bridging sana kya lng d pasok ung ielts ko kapos ng konti hehe pero ko din retake un. mahal dn kc ung BN ms mganda kung bridging since mor dan 7 years nmn exp ko. as of now isip2 pa dn continue muna work since ok pa dn nmn ako dito sa doha ipon pa konti pero nsa stage na q ng final decision.

Mas pinili ko magbsn kc at least pwde mgpart tym job st bka swertihin mkhanap agad ng sponsor after mktapos..

@dft mas maigi talaga kung all 7 ielts score mo para pwde dretso na sa mgamit mo un result mo sa aphra application. sa bridging program all 7 required, for 1 yr conversion program depende sa requirement ng school.. mron wlang bababa ng 6.5..

hello! i just received offer letter from deakin one year BN feb 2014 intake yun nga lang merun ako english course na 12 weeks pero inaantay ko pa ung offer ng curtin. san po ba mas mura ung tuition fee na univ? tnx!

Registration of nurses with limited experience

Can a Filipino registered nurse with one year work experience in the Philippines apply for registration as a nurse in Australia? Theoretically not. The framework for assessment for recognition of nurses set by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) requires, among others, that the nurse must have practiced within the past five years.

Normally, nursing graduates from the Philippines with limited experience will study Bachelor of Nursing to become a nurse in Australia. But recently, two nurses from Bacolod with less than a year of working experience applied for assessment with AHPRA with the aim of getting a referral to take the assessment of competence program instead of studying nursing again in Australia.

At the first instance, AHPRA denied the application of the two nurses on the following grounds:

a. The degree of the nurses is not an approved qualification as it was obtained overseas; and

b. The applicants’ degrees are not substantially equivalent to an approved qualification set by the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW).

AHPRA’s stand is for the applicants to take an Australian bachelor degree and apply for credits of subjects taken in the Philippines.

The two nurses appealed on their own to the Nursing and Midwifery Tribunal and in February 2013, I volunteered to assist them with their submissions to the Tribunal.

My contention to the Tribunal is that in assessing the nursing qualification of the nurses, the Board will be guided by the qualification assessment undertaken by the Australian International (AEI)-NOOSR Country Education Profile for the Philippines. I also asserted that the assessment guidelines of AEI-NOOSR on the alma mater of the nurses, indicated that their Bachelor Degree in Nursing is comparable to a Bachelor Degree in Australia provided it is a four or five years of full time study and they have evidence of passing the Nursing Board examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission.

The case was adjourned for a month for the Board to consider our contention as a new assessment application. In April 2013, the Board considered our contention and agreed to refer the nurses to an approved bridging course. This saved the nurses thousands of dollars in tuition fees.

The ramification of this recent case is that it would be possible now for nursing graduates from the Philippines who passed the Nursing Board examination with less than five years experience to seek registration and be given referral to undergo approved bridging course. In New South Wales, the College of Nursing in Burwood conducts bridging course which consists of 150 hours of lecture session and clinical skills practice and 160 hours of clinical placements at the cost of $10,000.00.

Another important requirement for the assessment with AHPRA and competence bridging program assessment is satisfactory completion of the International English Language Testing (IELTS), academic module with a minimum score of 7.0 in all four components of or Occupation English Test (OET) with grades of A or B only in each of the four components.

so may pag-asa pala ang may mga less than 5 yr work exp na nurse sa pinas..
but based on the article, pwde lang yun kung comparable ang BSN PH degree nila sa BSN Au degree, which based on some theories na dapat graduate from a section 1 school? or section 2+ PRC license?

Hi, everyone. Currently doing BN at Deakin University. I'm on my last term and hopefully will make it to the end. Hehe. I am pretty sure all of you guys will make it din. Pinoy pa! Independent learning dito, medyo nakakabigla sa umpisa but you'll get the hang of it. Sa atin kasi kulang na lang isubo syo lahat. Re: assessment konti ang quizzes pero ang daming essays. Type ng exam situational or prioritization, parang NCLEX type sa atin kasi objective more on principles ganun dito clinical practice talaga like what to look for, priority nursing action and others. Ang objective na tipong identification blah blah mga 1-2 item lang. Ang final exam modified na multiple choice and defend mo sagot after. So in short may essay ulit pero not naman yung mahaba. Placement gaya sa atin din, strict nga lang dito and madami paper works tapos magaling talaga sa assessment. Ang mahirap lang yung morning care kasi dyan di ka naman nagpapaligo at may kamag anak or bantay na gumagawa dito asa lahat sa nurse kahit may kamag anak iuutos pa din syo. Based yan sa experience ko when i had my placement last term. Makakasurvive kayo. Focus lang talaga ang kailangan and dont compromise yung studies. May mangilan ngilan din tumagilid ang grades kasi mas nawili sa part time jobs and yung iba dahil nga di ganun katight sched lagi nagbibeat ng deadline ayun hindi quality ang individual assessment medyo mababa bigay. Oo nga pala barat sila magbigay ng grades. Hahaha. Basta kaya nyo yan. And dont forget to PRAY!

I heard about that the payment in Curtin uni would be 31k total cost as international student but i wasn't sure for the fees as PR holder already. Pwde nga mgstart sa curtin ng 6.5 all category sa IELTS for 1yr conversion program but the thing is after you finished the course you need to have 7 all category for registration sa ahpra.

@doug bridging program is apply ka muna sa aphra pra bgyan ka ng eligibility to take d bridging program. It is 10-12 weeks program only lesser tuition fee and ang visa is business short stay. While ang conversion program is 1 yr bs nursing course pwde na dretso apply s school no need aphra muna then on student visa at pwde ka mg part time 40hrs fortnight. With extension of 3 months s visa mo after ng course mo so may mgagamit kang time maghanap ng employer mo..
