Best and Cheap Accomodation/ Hotel in Sydney

Me and my family plans to make a short trip to Sydney from last week of December until New Year (to see fireworks in Opera House!). Do you know any good/ cheap hotel near CBD or Opera House. Any recommendations on best place to visit to if we only spend like 4-5 days in Sydney?

Apr 2016 - Got a contract consultancy role in Melbourne
May 2016 - Got permanent role and moved to Toowooba, Queensland
