Fellow PinoyAU forum readers na nakarating na sa AU, pa-share naman ng experience nyo with phone telcos please .
1. Pagdating nyo ba jan may mabibiling sim card na sa airport?
2. Or wag bumili sa airport dahil mahal? Dun nalang sa 7-11 sa kanto para mas mura? May 7-11 ba jan? Cheers? Alfamart?
3. Magkano ang sim card? Magkano ang load?
4. Suggestions ko anong sim ang bibilihin. Similar ba sa Pinas na merong parang Globe/Smart/Sun?
5. Aling telco ang malawak ang coverage at malakas ang signal?
6. Syempre ang unang hahanpin ng mga Pinoy na bagong salta eh yung maraming data na kasama. Malamang first month eh puro video call sa Pinas ang gagawin. Ano ang normal na usage sa isang buwan?

Pa-add na rin ng question: sa pagre-charge ng sim, plan talaga 'to na may duration? 'Di tulad satin na if pre-paid sim ka, pwede ka magload and kahit nakatengga lang sya dyan as long as 'di mo gamitin, it doesn't expire?

Side note lang na nakakatuwa sa signature mo yung "Drunkenly booked IELTS"

Buti nalang talaga. Dala lang din yan ng kwento nung isang tropa (nasa CA na ngayon) habang nagiinom kami: "Pre, yung IELTS sa huli yun ha. Ipunin mo muna mga docs mo.".

Yun, pag gising ko kinabukasan akala ko nanaginip lang ako na nagbook ng IELTS. Aba't patingin ko'y meron nga, pinili ko pa talaga yung soonest available date which was a week after .

4. Suggestions ko anong sim ang bibilihin. Similar ba sa Pinas na merong parang Globe/Smart/Sun? many networks here, so you decide which one, boost yong saken, later on transition to Vodafone mas mura bigayan sa mobile plans
5. Aling telco ang malawak ang coverage at malakas ang signal? Telstra, depende sa area, but most areas supports 5G na, depende din sa phone if it supports 5G, you can look it up online..
6. Syempre ang unang hahanpin ng mga Pinoy na bagong salta eh yung maraming data na kasama. Malamang first month eh puro video call sa Pinas ang gagawin. Ano ang normal na usage sa isang buwan?

If may kakilala kang uuwi ng Pinas po, pwedi naman makisuyo or yong mga papunta dito. Ganyan ginawa ng friend ko.

Anong status sa *143# ?
Ganyan nga din sakin nun. Naka auto-roam naman sya and with load, as in biglang No Service. Wala akong nagawa, 1month no OTPs.
First 2days meron then biglang nawala. Sa Au ko lang naexperience 'to.

Pwedeng bumili sa mga grocery like ALDI, Coles, etc. Ang binili sa kin muna ng tito ko ALDI Sim 5 dollars lang. Tamang magka-Au number lang at makahanap work at maka-apply mga government accounts (TFN, Medicare, etc)

Magkano ang sim card? Magkano ang load?

Merong 5 dollars. Load - depende sa network. Pero usually, monthly ang bayad.

Aling telco ang malawak ang coverage at malakas ang signal?

As far as I observed, Telstra saka mga affiliated networks niya.

Add'l:
Kuha ka lang kahit anong murang sim. Kasi pwede ka namang magpalit ng network anytime kung gusto mo ng upgrade WITHOUT CHANGING YOU EXISTING NUMBER. Nakaka 6 months na ko, naka 4 sims na rin for trial and error at magandang plan. Hahah. Hope it helps po!

Naresolve na? Hoping you can share, besides kasi sa bank (which I plan on notifying para sa AU number pumunta OTP) may other services na sa PH number ko direkta yung OTP.

Hi guys any update on anong best option to do with bank otp’s with PH number. Will be moving to perth in a couple of weeks. Haven’t prepared this part of the move yet. Anyone can chime in kung ano yung best option for them i’m a globe user dn pla.

If you're on postpaid, try to check with Globe if they can switch you to Plan zero

If may AU number ka na, as far as I know you can update your bank details para diretso na dun. If not maybe roaming could work?

If may time ka rin, you can also try asking your bank directly about your options. May nadaanan akong post about this, try ko ‘tong balikan.

So long as the PH number is in roaming mode, then it should be able to receive OTPs from PH banks. I can confirm this, since I myself use a prepaid SIM card from PH. I just activated it to roam hours before my flight, back in March 2023. It is a simple SMS activation.

I am using Smart, though. One can always inquire and arrange everything with the telco for any assistance.

P.S. For Smart, the prepaid SIM card is set to expire within a year after the last load top-up. So, I have a yearly reminder to reload and to keep it active.

Aw, yun lang. Yung sakin kasi magiging maagap ako sa pag reload, kahit yung lowest amount. Hassle nga kasi pag biglang nangyari yan. Meron naman indicator kailan mag-expire yung SIM sa app ng Smart. Meron rin yata sa Globe, kasi si misis Globe e. Active pa naman yung sa kanya.

Pero pagbalik ko sa sg, may signal na sya at nakakareceive na ng otp considering ubos na load. Wala naman akong ginawa or nireload haha. Napacompute ako nun, P100/day roaming kapag prepaid. 🥲 Or baka may promo roam hindi ko lang naiayos din.

Mas okay talaga bago umalis kausapin na yung staff sa physical store para prepared.

Yung 100/day is when you use data. Pero the roaming mode itself walang bayad yun para maka-receive ng SMS. Need mo lang talaga keep active yung sim card by reloading once in a while.

Ohh this is news to me. Same here, prepaid Globe and have been out of PH for 5+ years, wala namang problem sa pag receive ng OTP sa Europe, Japan, and America. Never na ko nag top up (well except for some instances na need ko tumawag sa bank sa PH). Weird naman kung di gumana sa AU, hassle ah. haha

Ohh this is news to me. Same here, prepaid Globe and have been out of PH for 5+ years, wala namang problem sa pag receive ng OTP sa Europe, Japan, and America. Never na ko nag top up (well except for some instances na need ko tumawag sa bank sa PH). Weird naman kung di gumana sa AU, hassle ah. haha

Baka pag old SIM card, erratic na? Meron rin kasing recommended lifespan ang mga chips ng SIM card. I've read before as early as 3-4yrs dapat nire-replace na, baka nagbago na ngayon. But oh, well. Sobrang hassle lang nga yan lalo't may bank accounts pa sa PH.

Sorry naman hahaha. 10years+ na po yung SIM kong ito. Very 0916 you know old globe 😂 Napapaghalataan tuloy. I asked globe store to convert to micro sim around 2016 yata.

Ayun nga plan accordingly, ang hassle kasi may isa akong napast due na bayarin because of this.

Hahahah. Ang saya nung old number. Wala e, nasira na yung pinaka una ko before. Papalit palit na ko number since then. Nung nagka postpaid naman ako around 2013, dun lang ako napirmi. Pero nawala na rin yun last year. Kaya napabili na ako ng new prepaid. Lol.

But, given the chance, I would have kept my very first number, too. Good job sayo!!!!
